The J Mendel Sample Sale has Gowns Galore

By: Jacqueline Munro

The J Mendel sample sale is being hosted on the upper east side in the old BCBG building on 66th and Madison. There are plenty of kind staff members throughout the showroom, it is very well organized, and the selection is large.

All of the pieces are about 75% off but some are more heavily discounted and others are discounted less. This is a multi-floor sale; on the first floor you will check-in and drop off your stuff, the second floor is where the clothing, dresses, and gowns are located, and the third floor is where you will find fur coats. The gown selection at this sale is really impressive. There are styles for all age groups and all occasions; there are tons of different colors, materials, and patterns that would go with anyone’s taste.

Overall I’m giving this sale a 7/10. The prices are decent, the selection is good, the location is prime, it is well organized, and the staff is very helpful. If you have $$ to drop on a gown, hit this sale up. Happy shopping ladies!

3.1 Phillip Lim Sample Sale Good, but the Showroom Sale was Better

By:Riva Neumann

The 3.1 Phillip Lim Sample Sale is for sure a sale I would recommend you go to. The discounts are pretty good, but I can’t help comparing them to a previous sample sale in their showroom last fall. I found jackets that at the previous sale were $100 to be $175 and bags that were $100 to be $200 or more. I’m not saying these aren’t good discounts, they are, especially compared to retail. I believe the best deal was on shoes and rumor has it they will be restocking!

The clothes, even though they were a little more expensive, were gorgeous and very much worth the trip! I am obsessed with this plaid bomber that is only $175! (tbh I may go back and get it). The bags are also a great steal but get there soon because they are going QUICK.

Overall, I gave it a 7/10, I think it’s a good sale for the fall so head on over!

A+ for the A.P.C. Sample Sale

By: Jacqueline Munro

The A.P.C. sample sale is being hosted by Eclipse NY down in Chelsea. I love Eclipse because every time I go there the staff members are SO kind and the showroom is beautifully organized. AND, it’s right near the Standard Biergarten so I can go drink my self pity away after I spend a gajillion dollars at their sales.

At this sample sale prices range from about 70%-85% off. T-shirts are $30, shirts are $60, jeans are $60, sweaters are $75, jackets are $100, coats are $175, and shoes range from $80-$130. Overall I am really pleased with these prices. The merchandise includes gorgeous jackets and coats, awesome sweaters, classic APC t-shirts, a s*** ton of jeans, fun skirts and dresses, stylish accessories, and more eccentric pieces like corduroy rompers! For men there are lots of options too — lots of shirts and jackets as well as some cool sweatpants and accessories. I got my boyfriend a stunning wool jacket with a faux shearling collar for $100 down from $690! He told me not to because he has something similar, but I literally couldn’t leave it.

Overall I’m giving this sale a 9/10. Eclipse has been killing the sample sale game lately and I could not be happier about it. Their pricing is spot on, their showroom is neat, their inventory is stocked up, and their employees are a delight. Definitely head over to the A.P.C. sample sale, you won’t regret it.

Rubin Singer Sample Sale is Literally so Great

The Rubin Singer sample sale hasn’t taken place since the Summer of 2018, so we were pretty excited when the brand approached us to help out with liquidating thousands of their units.

The sample sale is on the ground floor in the fashion district in a great space (if we remember correctly, the J Mendel sample sale took place here last year).

The selection of gowns is amazing if you’re a petite person. There are sizes but there aren’t too many of them since most of the items are samples. The pricing is really good. Gowns that retail for $7k on Saks and Farfetch were under a thousand at the sample sale. Separates were between $50 and $475.

Dresses and Gowns are in the $450 – $980 range depending on style and amount of manual labor. The sale has old merchandise and new merchandise.

Most importantly, the staff is AMAZING 😉 (duh, we’re staffing) but in all seriousness if you want to be styled for life ask for John when you come in – you won’t be disappointed.

UPDATE: Starting Wednesday, prices at Rubin Singer will be slashed! Yes, that means dresses for $100!  Get excited and get on over there!! You do NOT want to miss it!

Rebecca Taylor Sample Sale Just OK

By:Riva Neumann

The Rebecca Taylor Sample Sale was nothing too exciting. Racks of perfectly organized clothes filled the space and you will find some nice pieces. Knitted tops are $40 while blouses are $80. Sweaters are $85, which is perfect for fall. They had some cute jeans for $75, as well as dresses for $100. Leather pieces are all $225 and they had some really cute leather jackets I had my eyes on.

To be honest, there wasn’t much else there, which was a disappointment for a sample sale. I gave this sale a 6.5/10. I wasn’t impressed but it was organized, prices were decent and there was some good stuff there.

Steve Madden Sample Sale Voted the Worst Sample Sale

The Steve Madden Sample Sale has hands down been the worst sample sale I have ever been to. First of all, it’s in Queens so it is definitely a shlep from the city. But that isn’t the worst part! The sale is held in this massive warehouse and it is literally crowded to capacity with lines out the door, and for what? the shoes are a mess, you are lucky to find a matching pair in your size in the piles that surround the racks of mismatched shoes. Also, most of the shoes are a size 6, which doesn’t do most of us good (unless you are the lucky size 6). They may be cheap ($10-$20), are you really gonna try to get through this mess?

The bags they had were great, if you could find anything in the million boxes they had. If you found something you liked, you had to grab it right then and there because if you didn’t, it would disappear into the massive blackhole that is the Steve Madden sample sale. Seriously, it would disappear into the massive amounts of stuff that was everywhere. The last time I was there, I waited an HOUR on line to purchase a $15 Betsy Johnson bag and this time was no different.

I rated this a 0/10, don’t go, not worth it.

Rachel Roy Sample Sale Not Worth the Time

By: Riva Neumann

The Rachel Roy Sample Sale was one that was not worth the effort to go. By the time I got there, there were only about 4 half racks of clothes available and lots of mannequins. All of the clothes were $5 which is great but you had to look really hard to find anything. I found some cute dresses and a lot of children’s clothes but honestly not much else. They had a bunch of mannequins for sale for $150 but other than that, you were out of luck.

I gave this sale a 3/10, definitely not worth the time or energy, but if you go check the room they are using as a dressing room, there is a ton of stuff there that may have some gems waiting to be discovered.

The New York Multi-Brand Sample Sale is one for the Books

By: Jacqueline Munro

Simply put, the New York Multi-Brand Sale was great. There was a wide variety of products ranging from jewelry to coffee mugs to dresses, and there were price points to fit everyone’s budget. There was a $10 rack with some really cool pieces, and a rack with pieces starting as low as $20. But if you’re in the market for something more expensive and luxurious, there was stuff for you too! There were plenty of gorgeous pieces from designers like Dolce and Gabbana, Cushnie, and Chanel. Oh, and in my opinion, the best part was the pair of Jacquemus straw totes in the corner of the room. They had the large size and the mini one. EEP!

In addition to the great merchandise and fabulous pricing, the layout of the sale was really cool. I loved the way everything was organized, and the host was very sweet. She will make you feel very welcomed and she was very accommodating. Overall I gave this sale an 8/10. The products were very diverse and very well priced. What more could you ask for?!

260 Sample Sale Fashion Review Sample Sale Sample Sale Review ShopDrop Sample Sale? More like Band.NO!

By: Jacqueline Munro

The sample sale was one of the weirdest, worst experiences of my life. First of all, there was no real price list, all of the items were catagorized by the percantge discount. Now, I’m not dumb or anything,I’m just lazy. And I don’t want to have to do mental math while I’m shopping. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, the discounts weren’t even good! Most of the items ranged from 50%-60% off. I mean that is just disgraceful., we know that this is your first “warehouse” sale, but just some friendly advice here… sample sale pricing is usually around 80% off!

In addition to the crappy deals, the merchandise was just weird. There was hardly any clothing but they had plenty of pool floats and “travel planners”. I mean what is that about? There were ice trays and yoga mats, phone chargers and notebooks, but no shoes! It was also so crowded. The last sale that I went to at 260 5th Ave. that had a line was Rag and Bone. And it wasn’t even as long! I could not believe how packed it was. People were hoarding plastic cups and weird circular bags like it was there job.

Overall I gave this sale a 3/10. I’m so mad that I wasted my time going, and I all I can say is, I hope you don’t make the same mistake I did.

No Need for Reforms at the Reformation Sample Sale

By: Riva Neumann

The Reformation Sample Sale is honestly such a great sale; nothing is more than $100! The best deals are T-shirts for $20, skirts for $50, short dresses and jumpers for $79, and knit dresses for $40. The long dresses and jumpers are also a great deal at $89. The outerwear, including suede and leather are only $100 and the most expensive clothing items at this sale. They have a lot of everything in all sizes so you will for sure find what you are looking for!

The accessories are also worth a look, handbags and leather accessories are $45 while small, non leather pieces are only $15. Shoes range in price but nothing is more than $100.I found some adorable sandals for $89 that I just loved.

I gave this sale a 7.5, it was pretty good and worth the time to check it out!
