Bags Galore at the Rebecca Minkoff Sample Sale

By: Riva Neumann

In the three months that I’ve been shopping sample sales, the Rebecca Minkoff Sample Sale has been by far my favorite one. The discounts were really great, so great that I bought myself not 1, not 2, but 3 (!!) bags that I truly could not live without. The sale itself was super-crowded and the line wrapped around the block (as per usual with 260 Sample Sale) but that did not stop my enthusiasm for this sale. If one could imagine what heaven looks like, trust me, it looks like the Rebecca Minkoff sample sale minus all of the crowds.

The discounts at this sale were something amazing. I bought 3 bags and my total was only $163!!! that’s INSANE and I (almost) don’t feel bad about it. There was a table with bags that ranged from $15-$75 and although the $15 bags sold out really quickly, there were still plenty of $30, $50 and $75 bags that were a real steal. The other bags were a but pricier but were still discounted enough to make it worth your while.

There were some clothes available, but honestly, it was only a few racks with bags taking up most of the sale. There was a small section of shoes as well, but they did not have a lot of sizes available by the time I got there, which was a total bummer.

Overall, I gave this sale a 9.5/10. Go for the bags and you will not be disappointed but RIP your bank account.

Vince is the Highlight of the Prive Sample Sale

prive sample sale chelsea market nyprive sample sale chelsea market ny

We gave the Prive sample sale a 6 out of 10. Here’s why. We loved that they had modern collection Vince shoes and tops, that they had stuff for men and women, that the space was pleasant as it always is in Chelsea Market. We weren’t thrilled about the pricing or the other items at the sale.

Setting and Merchandise: The layout was the usual for Chelsea Market. The right side of the room was filled with men’s merchandise. Shoes were on tables against the walls, and racks had clothing from Onia, Vince, Frame denim. There was a rack of swim shorts as well. The women’s side had the same brands. Shoes were organized by style, there were fifteen styles to choose from. Some of the white slides were current season.

Pricing: To be honest, I didn’t see a single item that was over $100 at the sale. For items from Frame and Vince, that could be impressive. There was a rack with some indie brands, where all items were $15. That being said, I wasn’t able to find anything I couldn’t leave without. The vince tank tops were soft and yummy, but they were $29 each and I just couldn’t justify such a price tag on an undershirt.

And so, I left empty-handed. For those who love Vince and Frame & would be willing to pay full price this sale would be a treasure hunt. For others – a hard pass.

Kokun Cashmere Sample Sale – Only 3 Racks of Sweaters

kokun cashmere sample sale ny

This Kokun cashmere sample sale was not one of the best. We love the sample sale at the beginning of winter, when we’re excited for sweater weather and to buy some fresh pieces for the new season. It’s tough to excite people about a sweater sample sale in May, let alone one with few items.

Setup and Merchandise: There were only 3 racks of clothing at the sale – so not too many to choose from. There were a few $10 boxes as well, but a lot of the merchandise there was damaged. The sweaters themselves were nice as well.

Pricing: Pricing started at $10, most non-damaged sweaters ranged between $35 and $75. At retail, the prices for the sweaters are between $180 and $220.

Overall, this sale is good for conservative sweaters to have to throw on for a rainy day.

The Nancy Gonzalez Sample Sale has Stunning Merchandise

By: Jacqueline Munro

The handbags at the Nancy Gonzalez sample sale are outrageously beautiful, but also outrageously priced. Given that the bags are all made of 100% genuine crocodile, I understand why they are so expensive, but the price tags still hurt my heart a little bit.

At this sample sale, the bags range from 55% to 70% off, which is good. But considering the fact that it is a sample sale, I was hoping for even higher discounts. Maybe I’m being greedy, but a $4,000 bag for 60% off is still way too expensive for me. Overall though, the merchandise is absolutely stunning… literally drool-worthy. There are bags of all shapes, sizes, and colors, and for every occasion, you could imagine. Lots of the styles are amazing for summer, so if you’re looking for a cute (but pricey) bag to carry once the warm weather holds, this is the place to be! They also had adorable shoes including sandals, mules, and pumps, all for good prices! If I had a fat wallet, I would have left with everything.

Overall I’m giving this sale a 7 out of 10. If the prices weren’t so high I would definitely bump it up to an 8 or 9, but I’m not willing to spend so much money at a sample sale. If you’re willing to pay though, and you’re looking for a fancy new bag, definitely head over to this Nancy Gonzalez sample sale.

Riflessi Sample Sale: Pricey but Very High Quality

riflessi sample sale 2019

If you shop for your man at high-end Italian boutiques and are used to the price tags, this sample sale will be your heaven. If you are looking for $20 shirts, pass on this one and go to a more indie sample sale.

Setup: the setup was gorgeous – it was in the regular store, with glass boxes, amazing lighting. The shirts hung beautifully on the racks, and were organized by brand and then by size. Staff was helpful.

Merchandise: There were shoes from Latanzza ($495 down from $5,000) for more than 90% off, Lanvin shoes for $195, Max Vera for $450 and Kiton for $650. Shirts were from Kiton and Isaia. There were bags and accessories as well.

Pricing: Prices were between 70% and 95% off. Given the original price labels of the brands, the final prices still weren’t cheap. But if you need to wear designer clothes, this sample sale definitely made that goal more attainable.

Be Prepared to Spend at the Wolford Sample Sale

By: Riva Neumann

The Wolford Sample Sale is your typical 260 sample sale, minus the long line to get in and the crowds. When I went at around 4:30pm, there was no line to get in and the crowd was minimal, making shopping much easier. The sale was a bit pricey ( $75 for a scarf?) but the selection of product was really good .

I loved that there was a pretty big range of sizes , especially with bras! The sale was neat and organized which made it much easier to shop. The best deals though were at the clearance rack so I suggest you head there first since prices range from about $15 to $50 and the stuff there is super cute!

Overall, I gave this sale a 7/10. Go on out there and shop your heart out!

Karen Millen Sample Sale is Disappointing As Usual

The Karen Millen sample sale at Clothingline is one we think of as a recurring sale – we literally haven’t seen a month pass without Clothingline announcing yet another Karen Millen sample sale. As one would expect, there isn’t enough fresh merchandise to go around so frequently. As a result, the shopper ends up with the same old merchandise that has been packed and unpacked a few dozen times, has lost its crisp, and hasn’t lost quite enough in price to make it worth your while.

Setting: The setting was a typical Clothingline layout. Half the hall was closed off, probably set up for the next sale they have. The racks were organized by merchandise. And the circle racks in the middle of the room organized by category first and size second. The staff was relatively sweet, or at least didn’t bother you to shop.

Prices: For this type of merchandise that has already been discounted so many times – not amazing. Dresses were selling for $45, skirts for $30, tops for $25 – and that’s on the 2nd day of the sale and 1st day of markdowns.

Merchandise: Lots of furry coats selling for $129. I don’t know who in New York would have room in her closet or in her mind for a heavy winter item when it’s already May, but whatever. There were some cute dresses for $45, the same ribbed metallic skirt that was there every other time we went to the Karen Millen sample sale. Other than that, not much.

We’re being generous when we give this sale a 4 out of 10. Save your energy and stay home.

Cushnie Sample Sale is Perfect if You Want to Look Like You Walked Out of Vogue

cushnie sample sale may 2019

This Cushnie sample sale was a success – extremely cutting-edge fashion items for very reasonable prices. Cushnie sample sale gets a solid 8 out of 10. Here’s why.

Merchandise: There were plenty of racks to choose from – and they were filled with jackets, blazers, dresses, jumpsuits, tops, athleisure, furs and bottoms. There was a section with pointy shoes and shelves with clutches as well.

Pricing: All RTW was between 85% and 95% off – for a high-end brand, that is something we will not complain about. Samples were just as beautiful and high-quality and were selling for peanuts (figuratively speaking.) Shoes for $40, Blazers for $70 and evening gowns that retail for thousands sold here for $175

Set-up: The brand showroom hosted the sale, it is nice and spacious so no complaints there. The staff was sweet and acommodating as well.

This sale is a winner. If you still have cash left, head on over to Cushnie sample sale and get yourself a crop top with some color and flair.

Veronica Beard’s Big Debut at 260 Sample Sale

veronica beard sample sale april 2019

By: Angelica – @TheArtOfTheDealHunter

260 Sample Sales is hosting the Veronica Beard sample sale for the first time right now at its 5th Ave location.  This had many people on edge because as history shows, when 260 works with a brand, prices typically rise. Until today, Veronica Beard used to host its own sample sale in its showroom spaces with affordable prices on samples and stock. Once we saw prices for this sale, I noticed they went up from last sale, but they are still reasonable and fair! I spent nearly two hours in the sale this morning and it was so worth it. My knee jerk reaction is that it was well stocked with a big variety of merchandise.  As someone who LOVES blazers, and the Veronica Beard brand (I have even paid retail for it *shhh) this sale was well worth the wait and the madness. I rate it a 7 out of 10! Let me break this down below.

I knew I wanted to be early to this because the samples are usually pretty good.  I got there at 7:45 and was the 8th person in line, call me crazy, but it was the smartest move.  When the sale opened at 9 am, I went straight back to the samples and had first pick at everything. Everyone else was swarmed around the stock blazers. The samples included pants, skirts, dresses, tops, blouses, sweaters, and blazers. I grabbed this yellow check blazer that is on their website now on sale for $452 and retails for $645. I paid $115. Great deal. The sample shoes didn’t wow me and I didn’t see any sample dickies. That shocked me! I asked the staff and they said they had no more and they only had stock dickies. At that point I was willing to forgo because I picked up a couple good ones at the last sale.

On to the stock, I went to the blazers. I love, love their blazers. I wear a lot of color and was dying to find a red one. I went down the blazer rack and grabbed six or seven blazers I liked and figured I would edit later. They had plenty of leather blazers this morning, but they were going fast.  I ended up with a beautiful, black leather blazer with gold buttons. When I got home I realized they charged me only $175 when the price list had leather at $250. SCORE! The retail tag on the blazer says $1,295. Double SCORE! I didn’t end up getting a red one, but the black leather was a great find. I also ended up with a leopard blazer. Thanks to the most helpful saleswoman, who went to the basement and got me my size and carried it up to me. That was so unexpected and really nice. They had some really cute shoes all priced at $100. That was sort of odd, because leather boots were the same price as a flat sandal with one leather strap.

At this point, about an hour in, the sale was starting to get really crowded and the dressing room line was about ten minutes long. Simultaneously, the line to check out was growing and the amount of people shoulder to shoulder lead to some short tempers. Stock was also all unorganized by now. I was standing in line, but so close to a rack, people had to jump between people to look at clothes on the rack.  Organization could have been better as well as the fitting room situation.

They didn’t restock any samples when I was there, but they were continually bringing armfuls of stock blazers to put on the racks. Blazers were aplenty and, in my opinion, the best bang for your buck.  They retail $500 and up, some as much as $845, so for $175 or $115, that’s still a deal for me.  The quality of clothes is stellar and the prices match the quality. I liked this sale because the shoppers knew what they wanted and were there for business. There was no one fluttering around casually. You could tell the shoppers knew the stock and were there to buy.  That makes a big difference! The help was really great at this sale too. I totally recommend stopping by if you’re a Veronica Beard fan. I am also really curious about markdowns and if they’ll come in the next couple days. If so, I might go back! The only downside to 260 hosting this sale is now more people will learn about it.

The Kooples Sample Sale is Worth the Trip for their Dresses and Leather

By: Riva Neumann

The Kooples Sample Sale is definitely worth the trip to the city to snag some great deals on some great clothes. The racks were full of high quality clothes just waiting to be purchased! Prices ranged from $45 for a T-shirt (a bit pricey for my liking) to $360 for a leather jacket (a STEAL). I found the nicer pieces, like the dresses and leather items to be the best bang for your buck. Dresses and jumpsuits were around $115 while leather items were $150. The shoes were all $120 which made me happy.

I found some items to be very overpriced, like cowboy hats for $60 ( I mean seriously, who even wears those anymore) and $100 for a poncho. For the most part, anything worth getting was seriously worth it.

Overall, 7.5/10. Most of the product available was good and there was lots of it, but it was pretty crowded and some pieces were way overpriced. Happy Shopping!
