When we got started with ShopDrop, our dream was to bring the world of sample sales to a larger audience. Our research showed that only the very fashion conscious and fashion-connected members of society were privy to this secret club of individuals who somehow manage to snag $1,000 items for a fraction of the price. One of our dream initiatives was creating a traveling sample sale. The idea was simple – instead of asking people to drag through the cold to get to sample sales, we would bring the sample sales to them. This seemed to be especially relevant for winter months when sample sale season is considered to be in a lull.
After a number of conversations we reached out to WeWork with the idea. We were welcomed with open hands. The next few weeks were filled with cold calls to brands and former partners telling them about the initiative and getting merchandise for the event. Marketing and getting the word out was part three. All that being said, my heart fills with trepidation today, as it is our first run of this concept. Fingers crossed & off to work.
