Make it to MACKAGE

By: Eve Orbach

Hello loyal readers! Now this is one I’m sure we were all very excited for: the MACKAGE sale is finally here!

MACKAGE has coats, accessories, and clothing for all. The markdowns for each item vary but overall there are definitely some good deals and steals. Coats are available for women, men, and children come in a wide range of styles from bomber jackets to winter puffers. Accessories include wallets, bags, scarves, gloves, hats, and vests. MACKAGE dresses, pants, shorts, and skirts, are available in addition to SOIA & KYO blazers, cardigans, jackets, and accessories.

The best deals of the sale are definitely the accessories. Wallets start at $10, scarves and hats $40, and bags are going for $70. As for coats, price vary per item but there are some jackets that fell below the $200 price range! (But many, many, MANY, more that surpass $200) For a designer brand, I thought that the clothing was pretty well priced—dresses could be found for $160, pants for $100, and tops for $100. The SOIA & KYO pieces were generally on the pricier side but had still has some affordable priced accessories.

It is organized by gender and style and is hung up neatly on hangers. The people working the sale are very helpful and outgoing.

All sales are final. Cash and credit card accepted.

I give this sale a 6/10. All of the pieces are very fashionable, but for a sample sale I was not very impressed with the prices. However, the accessories were definitely on the more reasonable side and there are even some coats that aren’t priced too high.

Finding outerwear for the winter can be a struggle, but in this case head over to the MACKAGE sample sale to try your luck at finding a warm, reliable, go-to winter coat!

A Theory Regarding the Theory Sale—It’s Meh

This Theory sale was so average that it’s hard for me to find a word to describe it. When I heard that Theory was offering items up to 70% off I was intrigued, but when I got to the sale I thought the prices were too high and the items too boring for me to justify it. Items available at the sale were shirts, sweaters, dresses, jackets (both men’s and women’s), scarves, and hats (and a few pairs of shoes).

Although this sale was kind of underwhelming, I will give props to how well-organized it was. With a wide variety of styles and sizes, everything was hung up neatly on hangers. Men’s on one side, women’s on the other. (260, take note) One thing that I really liked about the room (OCD, much?) was that items and racks were separated by category and price (ie women’s sweaters for $109, men’s outerwear for $299)— this made everything easy to navigate.

The pieces were mostly solid colors and veered on the side of dressy(ish)— in short, if you’re going on an interview, hit this up.

While the prices were notably discounted, for a sample sale they weren’t that great.

I give this sale a 6/10. The pieces were nice but pretty expensive. This sale would definitely appeal to someone who is a big Theory fan. If you don’t have any particular fondness for the brand, though, it’s just slightly above “okay”.

The AV Max Sale Lived Up to Max-imum Expectations

By: Eve Orbach

This AV Max sale was great!! There was a large selection and variety of jewelry at low prices. Prices ranged from $5-$25, while full-priced items on the website go for about $20—$70. Featured were rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings in both gold and silver finishes. Because of the price point, the jewelry is made with mixed metals instead of 100% gold or silver. The pieces ranged from super minimalist everyday styles to more funky fashion jewelry.

The sale was very easy to shop in. Most tables were organized by price and item (ie rings for $5, hoops for $5, etc). The sale venue was small but cozy, and it’s the same place where they keep their materials. This turned out to be a cool feature because they had people crafting the jewelry while we were shopping. The staff working the sale were really friendly and kind. There was Christmas music playing, everyone was chatting with each other and to top it all off there were free mimosas offered!

I give this sale a 10/10. If you’re looking for fun fashion jewelry at low prices then this is the sale for you. Also, because we’re in the holiday season, it’s worth mentioning that you will definitely get some people checked off of your gift list!

PSA: this jewelry would make adorable stocking stuffers.

Zadig & Voltaire Sample Sale – Doesn’t This Stuff Look Familiar?

By: Ashley Randall

Today we had the opportunity to check out the Zadig & Voltaire Sample Sale at Chelsea Market. I know you are all wondering, didn’t Zadig & Voltaire just have a sale? Yes, yes they did. While we were hoping to see some recent merchandise, we were disappointed to find clothing from 2017.

The Zadig and Voltaire Sample Sale featured lots of classic skull t-shirts, embroidered jackets and cashmere sweaters. While the selection was large, a lot of the products were really old (I’m saying we went to a sample sale in 2017 and this stuff was there). We were also shocked to discover that the sale featured only one pair of shoes and barely any accessories. While we usually look forward to the Zadig and Voltaire sale to score some Parisian inspired clothing, we didn’t love anything we saw. If you are a a die hard fan of the brand and looking to score some chic pieces, them you should stop by.

Overall we rated this sale a 5 out of 10. The pricing generally was meh and the merchandise was extremely old. The lack of the shoes, bags and accessories was also disheartening.

The days are getting shorter, colder, and right before you know it, there will be snow on the ground. Their style is more classic and simple. This will match perfectly in any minimalist’s home.

Prices were a bit high at the Sferra sample sale but fair for luxury linen. Bed sheets were between $100 – $350, duvet covers were around $115 – $365, decorative pillows are $75, robes are $30 – $50, and towels are between $5 and $40. Channel You’re Inner Olsen Twin at the Elizabeth and James Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

As always, Chelsea Market never disappoints. The Elizabeth and James sample sale is back once more this year. They first came to us not too long ago, in May. Perhaps, September is too early to have another sale. Don’t get us wrong, the sale wasn’t terrible, but the previous was better. The Elizabeth and James sample sale was definitely well-rounded. You can shop tops, bottoms, denim, jackets, and dresses. The sale lacked in breadth. There wasn’t a giant selection for each category. The brand clearly didn’t have enough merchandise to fill the large Chelsea Market space, because half the store was filled with various men’s wear.

We gave the Elizabeth and James sample sale a 7 out of 10. What they had was great, but they could of had more to choose from. Prices were slightly high on the men’s and Elizabeth James items. When attending a Chelsea Market Sale, you have to brave the Chelsea Market crowds. But, they were doing a great job on crowd control. The room was filled, but you didn’t feel overwhelmed. We definitely recommend you stop by and take a look at the Elizabeth and James sample sale. And some advice to the brand: wait just a little longer in between sales. Happy shopping!

Squeezing Out Every Bit of Summer at the Prive Sample Sale

Prive Sample Sale

Photo Via Diva’s World

By: Cristina Martin

Chelsea Market sample sales never disappoint! The Prive sample sale featured summer clothing and swim for both men and women. Chelsea Market has a huge space, so there was plenty of merchandise form a variety of brands to choose from. There are racks of swim for both men and women in so many colors. This is the perfect opportunity to stock up for next year, or that tropical getaway in January. The Prive sample sale also had a dresses, tops, cute pants, and skirts. For the gentlemen, you can choose from tops, trousers, denim and accessories. Prices were also very reasonable!

We rated the Prive sample sale a 8 out of 10. Pros were of course the fabulous clothing, huge selection, and affordable prices. The only con was the fact that it is mostly summer, you only have a few weeks at best to use them before the items go in storage. Don’t loose all hope, some items can definitely be used for fall/early winter. Happy shopping!

Clothing for All Seasons at the Elizabeth and James Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

Today we had the chance to check out the Elizabeth and James sample sale before it opened to the public. Held in the bustling Chelsea Market, the Elizabeth and James sample sale had a large selection of both samples and regular stock items. Samples were priced as marked and regular stock started at $39. The most expensive items were the regular stock fur coats. However, if you don’t mind a sample piece, you can score a fur coat for $199.

We rated the Elizabeth and James a 8 out of 10. The prices were fair and the selection was good. The space was also brilliantly organized and the dressing rooms were huge! I had the pleasure of meeting some of the lovely Chelsea Market staff. It is a breath of fresh air to encounter such friendly staff at a sample sale.

Check out the Olsen twins’ line, Elizabeth and James, sample sale as you’re passing through Chelsea Market this week. Details and pictures? “You got it, Dude!”

Riedel & Sferra Sample Sale

sferra_riedel_featured_image

By: Maura

Some days, you just need to buy a glass of wine. Other days, you just need to buy glasses for said wine. Wednesday was one of those days, so I decided to upgrade my apartment by going to the Riedel & Sferra sample sale in Chelsea Market.

The sale is a little tricky to find; its right off of the food court that has Li-Lac chocolates. If you get lost, chances are there is a friendly security guard who will point you in the right direction, as much as New Yorkers hate asking for directions.

The space was a little crowded when I walked in, but where there is a crowd, there’s amazing discounts nearby. Half the store was lined with luxury glass wears Riedel is known for; the set up was so impeccable, I kept my distance in fear of knocking over 100 wine glasses with my backpack. There were a lot of items that I wish I could find use for; decanters, wine flight sets, votives, vases, glass ice buckets, so essentially everything on a pinterest-bride’s dream registry. However, there was also plenty of great deals on more mundane, everyday stuff. Four wine glasses for $20? Yes, please!

The items don’t just stop at the kitchen; the other side of the store is dedicated to the soft, Italian bed linens of Sferra. Packages of every type of sheet were nestled in boxes like vinyl records, any and all sheet sizes available. Down duvet inserts are in the back of the room, with bath mats, towels, washcloths, and more lining the far wall. I decided that maybe it wouldn’t be the best idea to take off my shoes and lounge in a pile of towels as soft as clouds, so I mercifully restrained myself.

Prices for the Sferra were more of a mixed bag; each product is individually priced, often around the $100 mark. The throws are nice, but more decorative than comfy; perhaps a good gift for a friend who doesn’t eat bagel bites on her bed at 3 in the morning.

All in all, I was able to buy two owl-shaped whiskey stones, priced at $3 each, and a package of four of the sleekest wine glasses ever, for $20. If you want to play grownup and treat yourself for some nice household items, I really recommend this sale.
