Today we got a preview of the Sergio Rossi Sample Sale located in their showroom. Whatever you are doing tomorrow, you need to change your plans. This sale is insane.
To start off, the showroom is organized by size then further by style so it is super easy to shop. Let’s talk about the pricing (more like scream and dance around). It is seriously great. Starting at $99 (can you eat Sergio Rossi’s for dinner?) and ranging up to $299. These are great prices for shoes that usually retail from $995 to $1,295. There is a great selection of pumps, sandals, wedges, sneakers and booties! There is everything you can imagine, from glittery high heeled sandals (wedding SZN) to lace up boots (Winter is coming). Don’t worry! There is a decent selection of shoes available in every size. The notable mermaid style pumps are available (we are looking at you people who have weddings coming up).
Overall we gave this sale a 9.5 out of 10 (yes, you are reading this correctly). The Sergio Rossi Sample Sale was such a pleasure to shop, the staff was super helpful and there is an amazing selection of shoes available for cheap.
So last week the ShopDrop team headed all the way to the Woodbury Premium Outlets to check out all the designers digs. So settle down in the air conditioning because we will be sharing all the secrets (going outside in this heat is NOT an option).
First off, if you are not familiar with the Woodbury Premium Outlet, it is a shopping center located roughly an hour of NYC. Itfeatures outlets for designers like Gucci, Saint Laurent, Valentino, Prada and more.It is an oasis for a sale shopper since essentially everything is discounted from original retail prices, while a majority of the merchandise is past season (designer is still designer – right?). I know most of you are thinking, if everything is already discounted when is the best time to shop? The real key to shopping at Woodbury Premium Outlets is to go when stores put an additional discount on their merchandise. These extra markdowns include anything from an additional 20% to 50% off select merchandise. We spoke with several Sales Assistants at different designer boutiques to discover when the additional markdowns will take place. The most common answer we received was around Holiday season (literally just missed Fourth of July RIP). But do not worry! A lot of the designer boutiques mentioned that they would be offering a similar promotion for Labor Day. As well most boutiques mentioned Black Friday holiday deals. Additionally, a lot of Sales Assistants will ship merchandise directly to you (best news ever) and send you alerts when the additional markdowns are taking place. Last off, while the designer boutiques boasted some excellent deals, they couldn’t compare to Barney’s Warehouse which had shoes for 70% off with an additional 50% on top (cue us screaming). The clothes didn’t disappoint either. Shopdrop was also shocked to find that everybody’s favorite it girl brand Zimmerman has an outlet store!
So here are the key takeaways for shopping at the Woodbury Premium Outlets and check out some of the merchandise we spotted (advise we are not responsible for your next credit card bill)
Remember everything is already discounted so don’t justify your purchases because “it was on sale” – get what you really need!
The additional markdowns (anywhere between an additional 20% to 50%) are only on certain items and happen around Holiday season
A lot of sales assistants (but not all) will send pictures if you request them and ship the items directly to you!
This morning we had the chance to stop by the Vita Fede Sample Sale in midtown. The sale featured a limited selection of archive pieces but a majority of the sale was dedicated to current season merchandise. The current season merchandise was only discounted 30% off (something we don’t love to see). While the archive bins featured tons of rings and bracelets for anywhere between $20 to $50 (something we love to see). The sale is extremely organized and the staff is very attentive!
Overall we rated this sale a 6 out of 10. While we did love the archive pieces, the current season merchandise was expensive. If you love the brand, we recommend you stop by.
Today we had the opportunity to check out the Matta NY Sample Sale in Soho. The sale features tons of fun and funky summer staples at affordable prices! If you are not familiar with the brand, Matta NY makes tons of Indian inspired clothing. The sale has tons of embroidered tunics in a variety of colors. As well the sale features tons of maxi dresses, perfect to dress down for the beach or dress up for a night on the town. These maxis will also keep you effortlessly chic and cool during this heatwave. Matta NY Sample Sale had a limited selection of shoes and bags, but a plethora of scarves, pashminas and dupattas (remember winter is coming)!
Overall we rated this sale an 8 out of 10! There are some amazing summer staples that can be found at affordable prices.
Today we had the opportunity to head all the way downtown to check out the Altuzarra Sample Sale. While Altuzarra hosts the sample sale themself, so the discounts go as high as 90% off (we are drooling).
The sale featured tons of current season merchandise as well as past season merchandise. The Altuzarra sale was very organized and separated by the current versus old season merchandise. The pricing on the past seasons were amazing, nearing to 90% off retail. They had a lot of availability in terms of stock and sizing. While the current season merchandise was on the pricier side, there was a nice selection. There were tons of shoes available, including boots, lace up heels and funky pumps. The Altuzarra Sample Sale also featured a decent selection of bags and accessories.
Overall, we rated this sale an 8 out of 10. Altuzarra is one of the remaining brands that hosts their sample sale in house (and we are so happy about it). We recommend you stop by and check it out!
Frst off, our followers are literally CIA/FBI/Law & Order SVU spies. We had some of our amazing informants catch wind of an Alexander McQueen Sample Sale. Yes, you just read that right, an Alexander McQueen Sample Sale. Just to clear the air, the sale is private (hence invitation required). Here is everything they told us so we could tell you!
There is no other way to say this, but the pricing was literally insane. We heard that there was a good selection of bags this morning but it was cleared out extremely fast. They had the classic skull clutch in a couple of different varieties. The bags ranged from $75 to $300. The shoes were priced all under $100 and that includes boots (excuse me while I cry myself to sleep tonight). Here is the real kicker, tops and bottoms were priced at $50 dollars! While dresses and gowns ranged from $100 to $500 (yup, even runway). We also heard that there was a decent selection of costume jewelry, belts and other accessories. Time to phone a friend and get that invite to the McQueen Sale.
The APL sample sale started today, but all of the most generic sizes are already sold out. Unless you wear a 5-5.5 or 9.5-11 it is very unlikely that you’ll find anything. I only saw one size 7, and it was the ugliest sneaker I’ve ever seen. The staff members told me that they’re not restocking either, which is a total bummer.
All of the sneakers are $75, unless you’re buying a cashmere pair; those will cost you $95. There are a ton of options as far as colors go, but if you’re looking for neutrals and dark colors they’re few and far in between. But most importantly, I’m disappointed in the discounts. A sample sale price of $75 for a $140 pair of sneakers is just not good enough. I’m not surprised though given that 260 is hosting the sale. Overall I rated the sale a 5/10, and I’m sure you can understand why.
The Theory and Helmut Lang Sample Sale has a lot to offer in terms of clothes and shoes! There was definitely more Theory merchandise than Helmut Lang but there was still a good amount to make the trip worth it. Theory ranged from $50-$155 while Helmut Lang ranged from $60-$155. They had a variety of clothes including tees, bottoms and outerwear and a lot of sizes available. Tees were around $50-$60 while dresses were $70-$80. Suede and leather pieces for both brands were the same price, ranging from $109-$199 and $399 for fur.
They both had a lot of shoes available, but Theory had a larger selection. For Theory, shoes and sandals were $60 while boots were $95, and for Helmut Lang, $100 for shoes, sandals and sneakers and and $145 for boots. They had a lot of sizes, ranging from 35-41.
Overall, I gave this sale a 7/10. A lot available in a lot of different sizes and decent discounts.
Everyone remembers the annual Rebecca Minkoff Sample Sale that happened only a short while ago at 260, so when I heard that there was ANOTHER one at Rebecca Minkoff Soho location happening this week, you bet I rushed over there on day 1 to see what it was all about, and trust me, I was not disappointed. Bags ranged from $50-$175, with most being around $100-$125, including the newest addition to my ever growing collection of bags. Everything was neatly laid out by style with a separate table for sample bags, ranging from $30-$75, with most being $50.
They also had a nice selection of clothes, including ready to wear and some sample pieces, as well as shoes. They also had a lot of sizes available which I did not expect but was very happy to see. Ready to wear ranged from $30 for tees to $225 for leather pieces. They also had some Uri Minkoff pieces available as well as small leather goods.
Overall, I gave this sale a 9/10. Rebecca Minkoff hasn’t disappointed me yet with a sample sale and I always walk away with a new bag!

The Jill Stuart Sample Salehad really amazing dresses and a huge selection for all occasions at some heavily discounted prices. Prices for dresses ranged from $55-$125, with most being either $55 (short dresses) or $75 (long dresses). Other dresses included samples for $95 and stock dresses for $125. They also had some bathing suits and pajama sets but honestly not a lot. They had some nice ready to wear pieces as well as great shoes, not a lot though but what they had was really good.
Jill Stuart also had a seemingly random assortment of watches and beauty, and by beauty I mean some lipstick for $10, not super exciting but very cute as a last minute something to pick up on your way out. Overall, I gave this sale a 8/10, lots available for really good prices and everything was in really good condition.
