A huge thank you to Sample Sale City for reviewing the sample sale for us! She gave the sale a 7 out 10 review. 8 out of 10 for pricing, 5 out of 10 for service, 10 out of 10 for line because there was no line. There was a large selection of merchandise but most of it was very old and could be dated a few seasons back. Photos and price lists from first and last day below. Enjoy!

We went to meet with the people running the C&C showroom for kids. After explaining about ShopDrop and our users, the owners offered our users early access ahead of the sale start date to anyone with the shopdrop app. The ADD DOWN goose feather coats were selling for $100-$180 depending on size and style. Given the $400-$600 retail tag – the price is truly wholesale. Other brands included AI riders on a storm, Babe & Tess. Check it out now or next week & enjoy!

Another day, another line at 260 Sample Sale. The Versace sample sale had some good prices, but who knows what your’re going to find once you FINALLY get in there? We interviewed people waiting on line. Turns out, people were waiting for 3+ hours!! The line went down a whole city block and wrapped around part of another. One plus is that they offer men’s clothing and accessories. One gentleman we spoke with on line said, “Versace is lit right now.” So is Versace making a comeback? Whether they are or aren’t, the time you spend standing on line isn’t worth it. Go home, binge watch American Crime Story: The Assassination of Giannini Versace, and go back at a later date.
Details and pictures below. A very special thank you to Madison Avenue Spy for the photos.

Good news – the Dennis Basso sample sale is opening to the public tomorrow, April 12th.
If you are looking to score some upscale goodies at a price you cannot resist, this sale is for you! Since this sample sale was by appointment only today, there were no lines. We found awesome furs, gowns and clutches for up to 70 percent off.
Original pricing was well over $10,000 and came down to the $600-$2500 range. The kids stuff was TO DIE FOR!!!
The Rent the Runway sample sale was unpleasant from start to finish. When I got there, I was greeted by a line that wrapped around the corner! After waiting 30 minutes, I finally got past the doors ready to shop. Unfortunately, the space was way too crowded! On top of having to practically climb over people to just look at the clothing, most of the merchandise was dirty or damaged. Some of it was downright disgusting!
The only positives of the Rent the Runway sample sale were: 1. Everything is organized by size, which makes it easier to narrow your search . You don’t have to scour the store to find your size. Also, sizes ranged from 0 – 22, so there really was something for everyone here. 2. The prices were pretty decent. Non-big-name gowns and dresses were below $100, and big name gowns and dresses were below $200.
We are giving the Rent the Runway sample sale a 3 out of 10. It is NOT worth the wait nor the crowds to go on an endless hunt to find something that is not so obviously worn.
My personal advice: I went to this sale last year, but on one of the last days. I didn’t have to wait in a huge line for damaged clothing, and they had price reductions. I left with 2 really great dresses. If it’s worth anything… save your time and go at the end if you are really in need for some dresses.
Hope we could help! Details and photos below.

We were quite relieved to discover that Prabal Gurung is selling items for under $200 at the sample sale.
The sale took place in the Prabal Gurung showroom in the fashion district of NY. Over 6 racks of clothes ranging in price from $25 to $250. Most items I liked were priced at $125. Some items were overstock and available in numerous sizes, while others were true samples and were held together with safety pins. You’d probably want to get that fixed before dashing into a party.
There were plenty of high-heeled shoes for $65/$90/$110 and even Manolo Blahniks but almost all shoes were in size 40. There were also $25 boxes of tees which you could dive into for some AMAZING finds. All prices are color-coded.

We hit up the Loro Piana sample sale yesterday and loved the merchandise. But we can’t lie – we cried when we saw the prices. While the prices drop every day, they were still extremely high. So basically, if you have $800 to dish out for a beautiful cashmere sweater, definitely go to the sale. If not, wait it out and maybe check out the sale on the last day. Since images weren’t allowed, we took similar items from the web to serve as a reference. All info below – enjoy!

Head over to the Scotch and Soda sample sale, if not for the great deals, but for the eye candy! Since this sale had mostly men’s clothing, there were a quite a few cuties shopping. Anyway… back to the sale. I was very impressed with the Scotch and Soda sample sale. There were a ton of great pieces for both men and women, and for both Summer and Winter. The Scotch and Soda sample sale is being held in their showroom, so the place is rather small and can get kinda hot (no pun intended). There are no formal dressing rooms. You kinda just try stuff on whereever. That’s not so bad when you’re standing around a bunch of shirtless men, but if you are the shy type, wear a bodysuit under your clothing.
The Scotch and Soda sample sale got a 7 out of 10 on the ShopDrop scale. The prices were good (most stuff under $40!) and the selection was great! I docked some points for a disappointing accessories section. They had two plastic bins with a few belts and super random items. Their showroom is also fairly large, but they only sectioned off a small area for the sale. They had the space and could have put more items on sale. That being said, the Scotch and Soda Sample sale is totally worth checking out. Head over to Union Square tomorrow, and maybe you will catch the farmer’s market too! Deets below!

Spring and Summer are right around the corner, even though it may not feel like it in New York. We can’t wait to shed off all our layers and show off what we are actually wearing under all these coats. Although the spring season allows for the streets to be our runway, we are not so excited to see some of these current trends. They are here to stay, but hopefully not for long.
Dad sneakers, who came up with this?! We personally just don’t understand this trend. There are so many cute sneakers out there. Even Balenciaga can’t tempt us to surrender to this trend. Why are people giving into this trend? Who really wants to dress like their Dad?
This is another trend we really don’t understand. Plastic was once seen as a “cheap” alternative, but somehow it has evolved from or Diet Coke bottles to designer fashion. We understood the plastic handbag trend. (Guilty of owning the Ted Baker plastic toat.) Why incoporate plastic into your clothes? Doesn’t that make you hot?! (No punn intended)
Plastic? Maybe not so fantastic…
Okay, okay, we were guilty of following this trend as well when it was popular in the early 2000s. However, we don’t want to see it resurface. It is exhusting to have to find the perfect undergarment to make your sheer look “appropriate.” We don’t have time to find the perfect cardigan, or shop for camisoles in 100 colors. No thank you. We just want to wear one piece of clothing and go about our day.
