Reiss London is having it’s Spring sample sale and the doors open this morning. There is a generous selection of items for both men and women and prices are under $200 for most items. Women could shop shoes, dresses, tops, bottoms and bags. Men – jackets, shoes, square pockets and blazers. Nice selection of coats and shearling fur too.
LFStores, a community of vintage hippies is hosting a blowout sale at their SoHo location. At first, we weren’t particularly excited, but once we took a look at the markdowns, that changed. Items that retail for $100-$300 are selling for mostly $8 and $24 bucks: yup, that includes tees, shorts, skirts, dresses, trousers and even booties. The sale is lasting for over a week, so get yourself to the SoHo area and check it out – you won’t regret it.

Yesterday I stepped into JKNLEE K sample sale and was pleasantly surprised. LKNLEE K scored a 9 out of 10 ShopDrop rating. The entire store was on sale. Many of the items were being sold as a bundle. So you can get 3 items for $3, or 2 for $5 for example. This is one one of the few sample sales where you can leave with a whole bunch of items for almost nothing!
JKNLEE K is a fun, young brand from Korea. They can be considered the NARS of Korea. Take a trip downtown, grab some brunch with your girls, and hit up the JKNLEE K sample sale. The details are below.
For expensive shoe-lovers, the Paul Andrew sample sale is an absolute haven. The Paul Andrew shoes retail at an average of $650, so you can imagine how thrilled we were to discover that at the sample sale no shoe was over $250. All the shoes were segmented by size & gender (sizes 39 & 37 had the largest collection), and prices were either $50, $100, $150, $200 and $250 with the price being marked by the color of the sticker on the shoe. There were three pairs I really wanted to get but given my ‘spend no more than $50 rule’ I walked out with one beautiful pair of neutral stilettos. All men’s shoes were $100 or 3 pairs for $250.
We give this one a 9 out of 10 – outstanding showroom with great lighting, great collection and variety, staff is extremely nice and helpful. Definitely worth checking out. Photos and prices below.
Parker NY is having yet another sample sale at 260, and this time Bauble Bar is joining the display of the famed sequin dresses. There is a large collection of separates and dresses in various sizes. Most items fall into the $70-$150 range. We recommend being smart about pricing: since all items are priced by category, some dresses come at a $300 discount, while some tops are only $20 off retail. If the price range is within your reach, and you like the Parker NY style, you are bound to walk out with a few pieces you love. On the Bauble Bar side, the jewelry is all under $25, and the selection allows for some playful statement making. As always, photos and prices below.

Yesterday was the first time I went to check out the Clever Alice Pop-Up, even though the concept store has been around since 2008. Tammie, the owner, collects items from over 5 indie designers, and sells their items for 70% off retail. Among the racks, I found HEARTLOOM – extremely cute jumpers, tops, skirts and dresses – most of them selling for $20. Porto is a clothing designer that takes material from Italy, produces clothes in San Francisco and then sells them. That collection is targeted towards therapists, architects and interior designers. The loose, clean designs sell for over $200 at retail and around $100 at the Clever Alice Pop-up (most items were $90, $110 or $120). Other brands include Chicago-based Suki+Sollaine, Allison, and 2 innovative leather brands.
This is what we call a discovery sale with amazing items for low prices. If you are in the area of West 25th, definitely check it out.

The high-end brand sample sales are harder to come by than contemporary ones. Therefore, the vintage Chanel & Hermes sale hosted by Shelly & Renee is probably the closest you could get to an actual Chanel sample sale. There was only one table of handbags ranging in the $1K-$5K price points, a rack of Chanel jackets (in the $1,500 range), dresses, 4 or 5 pairs of shoes in random sizes. What the sale had more of was fur coats (in the $2,700 range), dresses from designers that include Oscar de la Renta, Marchesa and more. Many of the gowns were under $500, even though there were plenty of clothing items selling for thousands of dollars. If you are looking for very high-end couture, you have until the end of the week to check it out.

The Theory Sample Sale for Men received a 5 out of 10. While the merchandise was fresh-looking and plentiful, prices were barely 60% off retail. Most pants still cost $99, coats $299, and shoes $169. Compared to the Hugo Boss sample sale, where you could find shoes for $100, this is an expensive alternative. If you are used to buying Theory at full-price then this sale is perfect for you.

Since my engagement dress came from Carmen Marc Valvo, I was excited to see that the brand was hosting a sample sale. Considering the fact that I got married way before I knew about the existence of sample sales, I spent a hefty $1,200 on the dress. At the sample sale all cocktail dresses retailed for $100, and all evening gowns sold for $200. Most styles came in numerous sizes ranging from 0-10. Items were from past collections and were mixed between stock and sample.

It’s the J Mendel private sample sale again, and that means days of planning, appointment setting, building up of expectations. We went last night to check the sale out before opening. The good news is that the sale is in a large retail area with plenty of room to browse and try on items. The bad news is that dresses still cost quite a bit.
We awarded the sale a 7.5 out of 10 because the items were beautiful, but the prices were still high. A nice selection of gowns, furs, Manolo shoes (the ones I picked up were a size 9) and a few handbags. The cheapest items were separates (skirts & blouses) for $100-$150. We found a few cute short dresses in the $300-$600 range. Everything else was in the $1,000-$3,000 range. This sale is extended till Friday and is by appointment only. You can set yours up by RSVPing here. Photos and prices below. Enjoy!
