Sand by Saya: Filled with Flip Flops & Jewelry!

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: The Sand by Saya sale was in a small and crowded space. Jewelry, hair clips, headbands, and rings, were everywhere in sight. The display of the merchandise was a fail- everything looked poor in quality. The room had flip flops on one side, and it took over the entire wall. It was rather easy to find the exact size that you wanted. This sale is only worthwhile to go to if you are interested in purchasing a random piece of jewelry- other than that, it was not a hit.

Merchandise/ pricing: The pricing of the sale was as follows: jewelry $15-30, flip flops $25-$35, hair clips/ hair ties $15, and sneakers $59. There was not a lot of shoes left in stock, and there was only one of each piece of jewelry as well. I saw some gorgeous earrings and necklaces, and one cute rainbow ring. There were also some hair clips that were all different colors. This sale had some great finds but was very hit or miss at the end of the day. I would recommend stopping by if you are nearby.

Rate: 4.5/10 Some pretty rings and necklaces, but mostly not such a great sale

Even the great bags at James Chan don’t make it worth it to go

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: This sample sale was extremely small but there were some great bags and heels. The sale was set up with a few clothing racks in the far back, and in the front were shoes, bags, and hats. Everything at the store was organized and laid out very nicely. The staff was not sweet- they all sat in the back of the room when I walked in and did not even get up. Overall, this sale had some great finds but it still is not worthwhile to attend.

Merchandise/pricing: The pricing of this sale was still very high: most bags were $80, dresses $70, cardigans $198, dresses $125, and cotton dresses $98. The shoes were the best part of this sale, however. ALL shoes were $40, which was a great price. There were around 10 shoes left- all fancy heels. The sizes for shoes ranged from size 6-10, and there were tons in stock. As far as clothing goes, there was one of each item (very hit or miss!) The cardigans were mostly made out of wool and alpaca, which made it a harsh texture and the opposite of a cozy soft winter piece. This sale was not worth the travel, unless you live close by.

Rate: 4.5/10 Great bags and heels, the rest is EH.

You Should Probably Just LeLet This One Go

By: Eve Orbach

Luxury hair accessory brand Lelet NY’s sale includes headbands, jewelry, barrettes and more at prices from $35–$100.

Let’s be real: hair accessories are practically made to be lost. If you somehow manage to keep track of your hair ties and bobby pins, please (and I’m being genuine here) share your secrets with the rest of us! Because of this indisputable fact I found the prices to be pretty ludicrous. I understand that these pieces are handmade and are supposedly high-quality, but I will remain steadfast in my beliefs on matters as dire as hair accessories and pricing. And by the way, I said “supposedly” because our followers have shared that pieces from this brand break easily….

There was only enough merchandise to fill one sad, lonely table. Items were separated by price. The pieces were beautiful, I’m not going to lie. It’s just that you can find practically identical items at better prices. However, if you’re a bride it might be worth checking out their stunning bridal section because trust me, that’s one day worth splurging on! (And on a side note: congrats!)

This sale was a 2/10 in my book due to high prices and a lack of options.

Brics Milano Sample Sale is Boring as a Bric

By: Eve Orbach

This Bric’s sample sale at Soiffer Haskin features luggage and travel bags. The prices were pretty all over the place so with some searching you’ll probably manage to find a good deal or two. On the other hand: who wants to spend effort on getting LUGGAGE? Shoes? I understand. Jewelry? Of course! But a rolly suitcase is not my idea of an outstanding find. (I guess to each their own though)

There was no organization going on with the way the bags were displayed. The bags were mostly solid colors and didn’t really have anything too exciting going on.

The deals varied per item but a lot of the stock seemed overpriced to begin with. The staff was helpful, if not slightly aggressive😬😜.

This sale is a 2/10 in my book. Unless if you’re a suitcase fanatic then this one probably isn’t worth going to.

Credit card sales only.

Narciso Rodriguez – Not Cool

By Ahuva Levy

Hi there, can you see this? This sale is exclusive for senior citizens. Call your access-a-ride because you will find the perfect outfit to wear to your great-granddaughter’s birthday party.

This sale was as good as 6-week-old organic exotic fruit, shriveled up, limited quantities, expensive and BASIC. The sale was downtown, there were about 50 items in the room  and prices were not impresive. $350 for a something super basic is just not me! This is coming from the QUEEN of finding some good LBDs… but this situation was a NO GO. There were current season items as well as previous but they were not priced differently, there was not much of a selection either. It looked like the clientele was full of people who loved the brand itself for a REALLY LONG LONG time.

I say skip, save your uber money for a massage. Spend $350 on something that has a little quality or style to it in my opinion.

Move on Over to Monica Vinader!

By: Eve Orbach

Celebrity fashion favorite jewelry company Monica Vinader is having the chicest sample sale. With a 70% discount, stunning jewelry, and a wide price range this is one sale you can’t afford to miss!

There are rings, bracelets, earrings, charms, and necklaces galore in sterling silver, gold, and rose gold. The pieces are very intricately detailed but also very wearable for every day. Trust me, if it’s good enough for Olivia Palermo, the actual Duchess of Cambridge, and Sophie Turner it’s good enough for us! (Game of Thrones fans—hit me up in the comments). No matter what your budget or style is, there is something here for you.

This sale is hosted in the back of the brand’s adorable showroom in SoHo.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. But honestly the only thing I needed help within that sale was choosing which pieces were my favorites. There was some pretty tough competition here. Monica Vinader, bravo!

Loyal readers: if you love jewelry that is not only beautiful but also affordable than this is the sale for you.

Bogner sample sale: Great winter coats for everyone!

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: This sale had the women’s section in the front of the store, and the men’s was in the far back corner. This sale was very organized, and all of the coats were surprisingly categorized by item and hung extremely neat. It was so easy to find the color and type of coat you were looking for, which made this sale a great experience. There was a small table in the back that had some accessories in it, and there was a small shoe section (5-6 pairs left) as well.

Merchandise/pricing: My favorite aspect of this sale was that each of the items was individually marked on their tags- Yay, I didn’t have to hurt my neck after starring at the pricing board on the top wall this time around. This sale was 60% current season, and 70% off previous seasons. As far as the coats, most were original $1300 and were not around $700-$800. The new prices were not so great and remained pretty high. As far as quantity, there were tons of coats in stock. I only noticed one rack of pants/ shorts, however. Also, the men’s section was smaller than the women’s; they had tons of coats and pants still. This sale Is great if you are overdue for a winter coat, and if not- not necessary to attend.

Rate: 5.5/10 Eh prices, great merchandise, tons in stock.

All things random at the MoMa Design Sale

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: The Moma sample sale had tables in the middle of the room, filled with tons of items. While the room was spacious and organized, this sale was slightly wack. All of the merchandise was so random: from pads of paper to dishes to watches, this sale was very interesting. There were staff members behind each of the tables, and they explained what everything was. All of the items were neatly laid out and displayed, and it was quite easy to find what you are looking for.

Merchandise/ pricing: Most of the merchandise was 60% off, besides for jewelry and watches; Jewelry and watches were 50% off. There were tons in stock of everything, from plates to casual bags. The prices in this sale were great, but retail prices were also not so high. This sale is not worth the trip, unless you need a new clock or notebook. Most of the items were not considered “cute-” the plates were bright red with weird apples on them.

Rate: 4.5/10 Eh merchandise, low prices (but retail prices are not too high either), sweet staff, not worthwhile to attend.
