The Paul Smith Sample Sale has Very Limited Options for Women

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Paul Smith sample sale is pretty much just for men. The whole front half of the showroom is filled with men’s clothing and there are about three racks of women’s clothes in the back of the room along one wall. So girls, don’t get your hopes up going to this sale unless you can fit into men’s clothes or you’re buying for your boyfriend/husband.

For the guys, there are tons of sport coats and suit jackets, trousers and jeans, t-shirts and button-downs, and shoes. Prices are a bit high in my opinion, the discounts are mostly about 60%-70% off which is okay, but not amazing. As for the ladies, the best options are the trousers, and the worst are the tops. There were hardly any shirts and the ones that they did have were meh. There were a couple of nice work dresses but they were pricey!

Overall I rated this sale a 6/10. In my opinion, it is just not worth waiting on line for.

The Aquazzura Sample Sale is Ridiculously Over Overpriced

By: Jacqueline Munro

In classic 260 fashion, the Aquazzura sample sale prices are way too high. Prices start at $180 and range all the way up to $485. And while $180 doesn’t sound terrible, the majority of the shoes were between $220 and $275. In my opinion that is just absurd. This is a sample sale people!?? I mean, has that word completely lost its meaning?

Despite the disappointing prices though, the selection of merchandise was quite wonderful. I walked in and felt like I was suddenly swimming in a sea of Aquazzura boxes. Not only was there a nice array of styles, but there were also tons of sizes starting at 34 and going up to 41! I was very pleased with the selection of powder puff shoes. They were stocked with various heel heights and plenty of colors, but I felt like $230 for them was just too much! They also had lots of PVC shoes which are still super in.

Overall I rated this sale a 6.5/10. If you’re an Aquazzura fanatic who always pays full price, you might feel like it is worth it to go. But if you’re someone like me who loves the shoes but can’t afford to pay full price, don’t go because you won’t be able to afford the sample sale prices either!!!!

The Rebecca Minkoff Sample Sale has Bags Galore

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Rebecca Minkoff sample sale is currently taking place at 260 sample sale’s 5th avenue location. Personally, I’m not a Rebecca Minkoff fan, and this sale is always super hectic. So I’d advise you all to check out their online sale, which is currently offering up to 75% off retail prices, before succumbing to the misery of 260.

At the Rebecca Minkoff sample sale, there is a s*it ton of bags and a pretty decent shoe selection (but very limited sizing). I recognized a LOT of bags that were at their last sale back in July which means that there was a huge carryover of overstock. In my opinion, that’s really lame; especially given that the last sale was only a few months ago. At least the prices are the same though, there haven’t been any increases. For handbags, sample prices range from $15 – $75 and for production pieces, they range from $50 – $175. For shoes, sample pairs are $30 and production pairs range from $50 – $80. And finally, RTW samples range from $15 – $50 and production pieces range from $30 – $250. Overall I’m not overly impressed by these prices but I’m not super disappointed either.

Overall we rated this sale a 6.5/10. We recommend waiting until the last day for further markdowns, and you don’t have to worry about not being able to find anything at the end because they have a TON of merchandise. Happy shopping!

You can Stop Holding your Breath, the Alexander Wang Sample Sale is Back!

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Alexander Wang sample sale is back and so far it has been *Drumroll Please* INSANE!!!! We were super excited to hear that this sale was open to the public after years of being invite-only, but now all we feel is anxiety!

If you ever make it into this sample sale (the line was 500 people deep at one point) the main issue you’ll come across is the resellers. 260, how on Earth could you let this happen!? We got pictures of hoarders with mile-high piles of bags, clothes, and shoeboxes, and they were grabbing things off the racks so quickly that not even the employees could keep up with them. So even though 260 started off with a ton of back stock, we’re not sure it’ll last until Sunday. Aside from the resellers, the place was a completely disorganized mess. Shoe boxes were everywhere and the staff could barely navigate their way through the clutter. The prices were decent and the merchandise seemed like it was good if you got there first thing this morning, but apparently, all of the bags are already gone, and they are out of lots of sizes in certain shoes.

Overall we rated this sale a 6/10. 260, you really need to get your sh*t together on this one, we had really high hopes. This sale is not for the faint of heart, so unless you’re ready to wait online for three hours, and throw some elbows once you get inside, avoid this sale at all costs.

The 260 Multi Brand Sale is a hit or miss

By: Jacqueline Munro

260 Sample Sale is currently hosting a multi-brand sale including Derek Lam, Cushnie, and Pierre Hardy at its 151 Wooster location. I love multi-brand sales because if you don’t luck out with one of the brands, there are always others that might offer something you like!

At this sample sale, the Derek Lam selection was by far the largest. The Derek Lam (collection and 10 Crosby) merchandise took up most of the first floor. The discounts were mediocre, to be honest, but the selection was fabulous. The pants ($95 for 10 Crosby and $225 for collection) section was superb and there were a bunch of amazing coats ($250 for 10 Crosby and $300-$400 for Collection) and blouses ($85) as well. Sweaters were $150 which seemed a bit outrageous to me, but there were a lot of cute ones. As for Cushnie, the selection was very small. There were almost no gowns and the activewear selection was more plentiful than the dress selection. The discounts for Cushnie ranged from 70%-80% off and the sample pieces were as marked. The Pierre Hardy selection was downstairs and it was pretty big– in addition to the women’s selection, there were a lot of options for men and a few for children too! There were tons of flats and heels but not as big of a sneaker or boot selection. And as if the small boot selection wasn’t sad enough, all of the sizes were on the larger end. So if you have small feet you’re out of luck. The boots were $250, “dress” shoes were $180, and sneakers were $150. These prices seemed a bit steep to me but at least they had good stuff.

Overall I rated this sale a 6/10. It was not very well organized and the prices were a bit steep, but if you’re willing to splurge on some cute pants for the fall, it might be worth checking out.

The Rent the Runway Sample Sale was Surprising

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Rent the Runway Sample Sale pleasantly surprised me. That’s not to say it was amazing, but I was shocked that it wasn’t completely terrible. I hate giving 260 my money, but I got a super cute Alexis shift dress, a Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini sweatshirt, and a Phillip Lim sweater.

This sale is filled with a lot of merchandise, and I saw racks in the basement which means that they will be restocking. They have every form of clothing imaginable– shirts, dresses, skirts, shorts, jeans, jackets, coats… You name it they’ve got it. Prices are as marked so it is hard to get a sense of the average percentage discount, but two of the things that I purchased were about 86% off of their retail prices. Unfortunately, because this is a Rent the Runway sale, a lot of the items are damaged or just noticeably worn. There was a really cute puffer jacket by The Kooples that I wanted to buy, but it was completely discolored. I also saw several sweaters with holes and stains in them and lots of shirts and dresses with pulls in them.

Overall I gave this sale a 5.5/10. Because while I was surprised by the discounts, it was a complete sh*t show. It was horribly disorganized, the dressing rooms were a wreck, and the line to get in was absurdly long.

Ban.do Sample Sale? More like Band.NO!

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Ban.do sample sale was one of the weirdest, worst experiences of my life. First of all, there was no real price list, all of the items were catagorized by the percantge discount. Now, I’m not dumb or anything,I’m just lazy. And I don’t want to have to do mental math while I’m shopping. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, the discounts weren’t even good! Most of the items ranged from 50%-60% off. I mean that is just disgraceful. Ban.do, we know that this is your first “warehouse” sale, but just some friendly advice here… sample sale pricing is usually around 80% off!

In addition to the crappy deals, the merchandise was just weird. There was hardly any clothing but they had plenty of pool floats and “travel planners”. I mean what is that about? There were ice trays and yoga mats, phone chargers and notebooks, but no shoes! It was also so crowded. The last sale that I went to at 260 5th Ave. that had a line was Rag and Bone. And it wasn’t even as long! I could not believe how packed it was. People were hoarding plastic cups and weird circular bags like it was there job.

Overall I gave this sale a 3/10. I’m so mad that I wasted my time going, and I all I can say is, I hope you don’t make the same mistake I did.

The Y-3 Sample Sale was Utterly Disappointing

By: Jacqueline Munro

Let me start by saying that if you go to the Y-3 sample sale and there is a line, you’re a fool if you wait on it. I’m so angry that I wasted my time standing in the blazing heat just so I could walk into the sale and walk out five minutes later. When you get inside it is going to seem like there might be a good selection of merchandise. This illusion is created by the fact that the entire floor is lined with tables of shoes. But don’t get your hopes up– quantity does NOT mean quality. The prices aren’t good either! The Y-3 high tops are $93, and the low tops are $73 which, if you ask me, is a rip off for old, outdated styles. But hey, at least for guys there are a LOT of crappy options.

For women, there are hardly any shoes, and it’s not like the apparel section is making up for that loss. There are about five styles of athletic shorts and tops, and maybe two different kinds of jackets. I wish I had more to write for you girls but there is literally nothing else to say.

Overall I’m giving this sale a 4/10, which is generous. The only reason I’m giving it above a 0 is that I went on the second day. I can only pray that what I saw was a result of greedy buyers purchasing all of the good merchandise on the first day. Do not go to this sale, shoppers. Avoid it at all costs!

The Gant Sample Sale is Classic 260 – BAD

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Gant sample sale is currently going on at 260’s main location, which is quite a drag. I’m sick of dealing with the consistently rude staff and outrgeous prices. Despite the decent merchandise, the discounts sucked. I do not recommend going to this sale unless you’re in dire need of some Gant (which I doubt you are).

At this sale there are a lot more options for men than women. For men there is a huge offering of suits, outerwear, shirts, pants, and shoes. For women there are a some stylish blazers, a few pairs of funky pants, a couple of pairs of trendy shorts, and a minimal amount of shoes. There were some unisex accessories including sunglasses and scarves, but nothing that blew me away. The most shocking thing I saw at the sale was a Harry’s shave kit.

Overall I rated this sale a 5/10. While the selection of clothing that they had was alright, I cannot stress how lousy the prices were. I mean t-shirts were $30… Not today Satan!!!!

Sparkling Sequins – The Parker Sample Sale

By: Ashley Randall

Today we had the chance to stop by the Parker Sample Sale. While we were hoping to score some amazing sample pieces, there was an extremely limited selection. The pricing was nothing special either. If you need a sequined dress for your next Studio 54, Gatsby themed party or to just wear around the house, look no further. There is a decent selection of gowns as well. Just as a warning, the line to try stuff on is extremely long and will in fact test you patience.

Overall we rated the Parker Sample Sale an 5 out of 10. The selection was nothing crazy, we recommend you stop by if you are in the area. If not, you really shouldn’t lose sleep over this sale.
