The Most Coveted Sale of the Year: Jimmy Choo Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

People began to line up early for the Jimmy Choo sample sale. Luckily, we were able to get inside an hour early with a press pass to bring you the scoop. This sample sale is one of the most coveted sales because of the excellent condition of their samples, large selection, and low prices. The Jimmy Choo sample sale also not only restocks, but prices are slashed in half on the last day.

We gave the Jimmy Choo sample sale a 6 out of 10 ShopDrop rating. They had an abundance of men shoes, women’s shoes, bags, and other accessories. I docked some points because although they had a large inventory, I wasn’t impressed with the styles of shoes. The styles were either super extra or basic. For $200 + a shoe, I need to love them. It’s also unfair that they price ALL their men’s shoes at $150 flat. Yet the women’s shoes, their core business, were priced between $200 – $375.

We will be keeping an eye on this sale throughout the week. Stay tuned for an update on the last day, Friday. For now, details and photos are below.

UPDATE: 5/11/18 – Prices went down at 1:30 p.m. The selection was so so, and it went quickly.  I guess the word about last day prices got out quickly.

What: Jimmy Choo Sample Sale

Booties, Boots and Major Studs at the Modern Vice Sample Sale

By: Lindsey Castin

I inherited my designer shoe addiction from my mom, which made Modern Vice the perfect sample sale for me to go to. The sample sale had all different kinds of shoes: from boots (that sold at retail for $399 and were marked down to $69), to sandals (originally sold for $150 marked down to $39.99) to platforms – all covered in different colors of glitter. They also had a rack of coats which included silver and black leather jackets (made with a liner in them for women who ride motorcycles so they can look fabulous and not need to layer), bomber jackets as well as sweatshirts. These were all on pre sale and were priced at $360. My favorites were the white sandals with cheetah printed straps–perfect for a winter vacation getaway.

Sara Risigo who is a production consultant for Modern Vice showed us the back room which had a mini factory that they make the shoes in! Overall, such a cute venue as well as a great selection with a variety of sizes at unbeatable prices. The sale is still on until Friday, so you have a full day left to check it out! Pictures below!

What: Modern Vice sample sale

5 Ways To Look Like A Million Bucks For Less

If Monday is as difficult for you as it is for the rest of us, fear not. There are many wonderful sample sales and shopping events taking place this week. There, you’ll be able to stock up on some low-cost designer items in advance of Spring, which just doesn’t want to come. There are five action items that would maximize anyone’s return on invested time. So below are a few, and I’m always interested in hearing more ideas… so ping me, follow me on Instagram @shopdropapp and shoot me your ideas. Yours always, Estee <3

  1. Shop sample sales

Sample sales are the best-kept secret of gorgeous looking fashionistas. Most brands, yes, even Canali, DVF & Hermes hold sample sales in fashion capitals once or twice a year. The merchandise is sold at a whooping 70%-90% discount. Knowing where to find them sales is a key to looking chic without spending chic. There are a few things that can maximize your results though… and they require that you be prepared to shop wisely.

  2.  Do your research

Before you head to a sample sale, find out which brand or brands are being featured. See if you like any of the items. Find out if the sale sells stock or sample sizes (most sample sales now sell stock). I recommend having an app that lists all sample sales installed on your phone. Once or twice a week, check in and put interesting sales on your calendar.

  3. Stay tuned for outliers

If there is something on sale at the end of the season, chances are, there will be more of a selection in non-standard sizes. My mother-in-law has a 10.5 size foot, and sample sales for shoes are her heaven. You could find the most exquisite and exclusive designs for ridiculous prices if your feet are either ‘too big’ or ‘too small’. If you want to see the maximum selection, go on the first day.

  4. Know your budget

If you want to spend $5-$10 on an item, then look out for flea markets, blowout sales, and final markdowns. Oftentimes, the last day of a sample sale will be accompanied with additional mark-offs. If your goal is getting the Hermes scarf, then stand in that line, and get to the sale as early as you can.

  5. Set your expectations

The tradeoff of buying luxury items at sample sales is losing the experience. No one will fuss over you at a sample sale bringing you every item you could dream of. Most probably, you will have to change in a public changing room, will have to be swift in your choices and stand in line to check out. If you ask us, it’s definitely worth the 70%-90% discount you’ll get in the long run. And if you set your expectations correctly, the experience will be fun!
