The Dolce and Gabbana Sample Sale is Amazeballs

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Dolce and Gabbana sample sale is currently being hosted by the third party retailer Luxe Market in the heart of Soho. We got a sneak peek of the sale at our VIP hours this morning, and we were NOT disappointed. If you (foolishly) didn’t buy a VIP pass you might have missed out on some of the best pieces given that there is a small selection, but don’t fret, the sale is continuing through tomorrow night.

At this D&G sample sale, the ready to wear items range from 50%-85% off and the retail prices are listed on the tags so you’re able to see what kind of deals you’re getting. As far as merchandise goes there are several stunning jackets, blouses, bottoms, and a couple of gorgeous dresses. There was also a decent offering of accessories including handbags, backpacks, wallets, and scarves, but the shoe selection is nearly nonexistent. There was only one pair of D&G sneakers, and they were far too eccentric for my wardrobe. Guys don’t worry, you’re included in this sale too. There are lots of cool tops and outerwear options for you as well, but most of the styles have old western designs on them.

Overall I rated this sale an 8/10. Despite the fact that the quantity of the merchandise was somewhat limited, the pieces they did have were awesome. Furthermore, the pricing was good, it was well organized, and the staff members were beyond kind. Happy shopping, friends!

Ironically No Lines at The Line Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

Since everyone and their mother flocked to the LXR and Co sample sale, The Line sample sale had… no line. The Line had absolutely beautiful pieces from various designers. You can shop from Calvin Klein to Dolce & Gabbana. If you were a big Protagonist fan, then you were in luck. Protagonist filled the racks. You can also shop home, accessories, books, and shoes.

We rated The Line sample sale a 7.5 out of 10. The selection was magnificent and the space wasn’t that crowded. Prices were a bit high, but with good markdowns from 70% – 75%. The Line sample sale scored most of their points in the fantastic selection of merchandise. Opening day of The Line sample sale was the same day that NYC got hurricane Florance rain. The 260 staff had the nerve to kick people out in the pouring rain. Shoppers just wanted to wait a little bit until it passed. The 260 staff, instead of asking everyone nicely to not block the door, decided to yell at everyone to leave because they have umbrellas. In that monsoon, an umbrella will not help much. However, as usual, that’s 260 being their usual rude selves. Happy shopping!

The Cure to Met Gala FOMO: Rating The Night’s Looks, and How to Shop Them

By: Cristina Martin

Versace stole the show at this year’s Met Gala. The brand dressed numerous celebrities in Versace’s chicest Sunday School evening wear, fitting the theme, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” The Met Gala, dubbed the “Super Bowl of Fashion,” is the perfect (and usually the only) excuse to go completely extra with your outfit. I always praise those who commit to the theme and give it 110%.

Below are the best and not so best looks from fashion’s most famous evening. If you were sitting on your sofa last night wishing you were there, or lusting to own a fabulous piece from one of these designers, I’ll let you know which Met Gala designer runs sample sales. You’re welcome.

The Kings and Queens of Met Gala 2018:
Met Gala Royalty that committed to the Catholic theme.

Best Dressed Queen: Blake Lively in Versace and Christian Louboutin.
There was a huge Versace sale this year, and we are keeping our fingers crossed for another one next year. Christian Louboutin has sample sales, but they are almost impossible to get in to unless you work for the company or know someone who does.

Best Couple: Jeremy Scott and Cardi B wearing Moschino
Global Fashions hosted a Moschino sample sale recently, with mixed reviews.

Best Dressed King: Chadwick Boseman wearing Versace

Honorable Mentions:

Sarah Jessica Parker: This Met Gala Queen NEVER disappoints. Dolce & Gabbana and Jennifer Fisher dressed her this year. We are still praying for a D&G sale… Hopefully our prayers will be answered soon.

Nicki Minaj dressed as the devil by Oscar de la Renta and Tiffany & Co. The Oscar de la Renta sample sale just passed, and happens every year.

Jennifer Lopez: New York’s “Jenny from the Block,” is strutting down the red carpet with a Balmain dress and Jimmy Choo accessories. The cross on Jlo’s dress can be found on Anna Wintour’s first Vogue cover. Nice touch!  A Balmain sample sale is also in our prayers, but you can shop the divine Jimmy Choo sample sale every spring.

Sinful Looks That Had Me Asleep at the Altar:
These celebs did not follow the theme and were just plain BORING!

Worst Dressed: Jaden Smith in Louis Vuitton
Jaden, I guess thinks he’s too cool to to wear something crazy. Not only did he not follow the theme, he looks like he’s going to grab some lunch on his way to  his next meeting. You’re also that self-absorbed that you have to carry around your gold record? This is the ultimate Met Gala sin.

Worst Couple: The Olsen twins. These two are always a packaged deal. They have the same over-sized look every… singe… year… I think I would die and resurrect if they wore something different. The Elizabeth & James sample sale is their brand, and it’s is opening tomorrow.

Honorable Mentions:

Cara Delevingne: Wearing Dior and looking more like a dominatrix rather than a Catholic school girl.

Claire Danes: Her dress contributed absolutely nothing to the theme. She added three colors together and added a feather. I’m hitting snooze button on this one.

The Jenner Clan: Kris (in Tommy Hilfiger), Kendall (in Off-White), and Kylie (in Alexander Wang) were all SO boring! Not to mention that Travis Scott looks like a World War II German soldier. I guess Kim K. was the only one allowed to slay the red carpet that night. (P.S. Alexander Wang has sample sales.)
