Sand by Saya: Filled with Flip Flops & Jewelry!

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: The Sand by Saya sale was in a small and crowded space. Jewelry, hair clips, headbands, and rings, were everywhere in sight. The display of the merchandise was a fail- everything looked poor in quality. The room had flip flops on one side, and it took over the entire wall. It was rather easy to find the exact size that you wanted. This sale is only worthwhile to go to if you are interested in purchasing a random piece of jewelry- other than that, it was not a hit.

Merchandise/ pricing: The pricing of the sale was as follows: jewelry $15-30, flip flops $25-$35, hair clips/ hair ties $15, and sneakers $59. There was not a lot of shoes left in stock, and there was only one of each piece of jewelry as well. I saw some gorgeous earrings and necklaces, and one cute rainbow ring. There were also some hair clips that were all different colors. This sale had some great finds but was very hit or miss at the end of the day. I would recommend stopping by if you are nearby.

Rate: 4.5/10 Some pretty rings and necklaces, but mostly not such a great sale

Even the great bags at James Chan don’t make it worth it to go

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: This sample sale was extremely small but there were some great bags and heels. The sale was set up with a few clothing racks in the far back, and in the front were shoes, bags, and hats. Everything at the store was organized and laid out very nicely. The staff was not sweet- they all sat in the back of the room when I walked in and did not even get up. Overall, this sale had some great finds but it still is not worthwhile to attend.

Merchandise/pricing: The pricing of this sale was still very high: most bags were $80, dresses $70, cardigans $198, dresses $125, and cotton dresses $98. The shoes were the best part of this sale, however. ALL shoes were $40, which was a great price. There were around 10 shoes left- all fancy heels. The sizes for shoes ranged from size 6-10, and there were tons in stock. As far as clothing goes, there was one of each item (very hit or miss!) The cardigans were mostly made out of wool and alpaca, which made it a harsh texture and the opposite of a cozy soft winter piece. This sale was not worth the travel, unless you live close by.

Rate: 4.5/10 Great bags and heels, the rest is EH.

Buscemi sale: cool shoes, yet pricey.

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: The Buscemi sample sale was overwhelming and crowded. The mens shoes and women’s were on opposite sides of the room, and there were a few clothing racks in the far back of the room. The set up of the shoes was quite organized, and the way they portrayed the shoes looked nice. The space was pact with customers, and it looked like the shoes were selling fast. This sale is worthwhile to attend if you are looking for a new pair of high top sneakers or a casual pair of slides (that was what the sale had the most of).

Merchandise/pricing: The prices of this sale still remained high. I still think that it is quite expensive to pay $175 for a pair of casual sneakers. The prices of this sale went as follows: shoes (samples $100, non-samples $175), coats around $300, pants around $100, and bags around $150. There were a lot of shoes, but the mens had double the amount of the women. Customers were piling in fast; I think the shoes won’t last until Sunday! This sale also had mostly high-top sneakers and slides- if you are not interested in either of those I don’t suggest you go.

Rate: 5.5/10 Cool shoes, yet pricey still.

Halston sample sale: AMAZING!

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: The Halston sample sale was extremely organized and an enjoyable shopping experience. The space had The Arrivals coats in the front entrance, and the rest of the room was dedicated to everything Halston. All of The Arrivals coats were hung nicely, and all grouped according to style. The Halston clothing was also categorized by clothing type; there were pants racks, dress racks, shirt racks, and gown racks. The staff was also very sweet and was able to grab additional sizes in the back room.

Merchandise/ pricing: The Arrivals coats ranged from $99-$800, and on average the Halston clothing was $30. Halston had a bunch of clothing in stock, with multiple colors as well. They had great fancy bubble dresses that one could wear to an event: those were retail for $455 and were now selling for $25. I went on the website to see the dress, and it is on sale there for $275… people most probably think that is a good sale as well! Halston also had the cutest skirts for both the winter and summer. There were unlimited sizes of everything (and even more in the back.) Most of the merchandise was still in plastic bags from the factories- which means it was never worn by anyone! This sale was great, and worthwhile to go. No one can beat these excellent deals!

Rate: 8/10 Great deals, unlimited merchandise, fun experience. Worth it to go.

ShopShops: Just, NO.

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: The set up of this sale was on the peculiar side; it was right next (and rather on top of) an open office space with multiple people working. In terms of this sale, the merchandise was also messy. All of the racks were not categorized by item, besides for the pants/skirts rack. The rest of the racks had a bunch of different occasion and style dresses, sweaters, coats, and more. It was not easy finding what you specifically wanted, and the staff was also super quiet/ not helpful. The accessories and shoes were placed in the back of the room, and there was tons of merchandise.

Pricing/ merchandise: All of the items were each individually marked with colored stickers; the prices ranged from $10-$100 (so I’ve thought…). Despite the fact that the pricing sheets had the color-coded stickers with prices beside them, tons of the items were “exceptions.” I found it rather disappointing when I picked up a Moose Knuckle coat and seeing the blue tag on it, thinking it was $100, to later discover that this was an exception piece- bummer! As far as the rest of the clothing, there were tons of scarves, (not worth the travel if you want just a scarf..) and sweaters. I was pleasantly surprised to see a few Alice and Olivia sweaters fro $50. Lastly, there were some great shoes (channel slides) however it was very hit or miss: the chances that the pair you liked happened to be your exact size were slim to none. There was mostly one of each shoe. Honestly, this sample sale made me feel that I was at a thrift shop. Defiantly not worth the travel, unless you live in the same apartment building.

Rate: 3.5/10 Some good finds, but mostly the entire sale was hit or totally miss.

Pippa and Julie- GORGEOUS children’s dresses for occasions!

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: The Pippa and Julie set up was organized and totally spacious- It was actually completely empty when I went! The sale had accessories right when you walk in, and the first two racks were all things Disney. Throughout the room were racks of gorgeous fancy dresses for girls to wear to weddings and special events. There were tons of options and multiple styles: this sale is worthwhile to go to if you are in need of a nice dress (there was nothing else besides for dresses).

Merchandise/ pricing: The pricing of this sale was as follows: dresses $20, legging sets $15, separates $10, and accessories up to $30. There were tons of dresses at this sale- I saw gorgeous high/low dresses, and very cute Disney three-piece sets. There was also only one small section for boys, due to the fact that this brand is mostly a girl’s line. In addition, the staff was very sweet. They were more than happy to show me all of the dresses and styles, and where I can find additional sizes. This sale was fantastic and the prices were unbeatable!!

Rate: 6/10– great dresses, one section for boys, worthwhile if you need a nice children’s dress !

ROLLER Rabbit is a ROLLER coaster of all things flannel!

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: The set up of this sample sale was not the most organized. There were boxes of accessories, bedding, and children clothing all scattered throughout the space. From the second you walk in, you may get a minor headache! Roller Rabbit had accessories on the left-hand side of the room, kids racks in the far back, and the rest of the clothing throughout. There were tons of racks, and it was quite chaotic to say the least. This sale is worthwhile if you are looking for flannel pajamas!

Merchandise/ set up: The pricing of the merchandise was as follows: HOME merchandise ranged from prices $3-$80, mens clothing ranged from $2-$40, kids from $5-$20, and women’s $2-$70. Prices were low, but the brand itself is not so expensive to begin with. There were tons of merchandise in stock, ranging from basic denim jeans to cute winter sweaters. However, there was only one men’s rack and about two children’s.

Rate: 6/10, low prices, lots of accessories, and only one men’s rack.

Let’s pray it snows after buying all things cashmere at THE ARRIVALS sample sale!

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: The Arrivals sample sale was extremely impressive. They had ample amounts of all things cashmere, and tons of The Arrivals coats to top it all off. The space was not crowded and very organized; The Arrivals coats were hung in the front entrance, and the cashmere was then throughout the room. In the center of the room, there were boxes filled with cashmere accessories: scarves, gloves, shawls, and more. It was very organized and easy to find exactly what you are looking for. The staff was helpful, and it was a fun shopping experience. This sale is worthwhile to attend.

Merchandise/ pricing: The pricing of this sale was excellent. For starters, The Arrivals merchandise ranged from $25-$500. Next, the cashmere pricing was as follows: gloves $30, scarves $40, reversible wraps $100, pajamas $30, robes $70, hoodies $60, zip-up sweatshirts $70, and sweatpants $50. It was fascinating to me, personally, that I saw some scarves were originally in the $400’s, and were now being sold for just $40! There was also tons in stock; I saw around 3-4 boxes for each item. There were warm and soft scarves, cute “XO” labeled gloves, and fuzzy slippers as well. This sale was mostly women, but there was one rack for the men. That rack’s pricing was as follows: pants $50, and sweaters $60.

Rate: 7.5/10 Amazing deals, unlimited merchandise, and a great experience. Only one men’s rack.

REMARKABLE deals at Ramy Brook and J Slides

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: The Ramy Brook and J Slides sample sale was a huge hit. In the front of the space, the sale had two racks filled with Snowman New York coats. Throughout the rest of the store, there were other brands such as Generation Love, Ramy Brook, and more. There were a few bag accessories (both fancy and casual) placed behind the counter, and there was also a fairly large shoe selection as well. This sale was exceptionally organized, and had a ton of inventory.

Merchandise/ pricing: The pricing of the sale was as follows: Snowman NY ranged from $160-$330, Ramy Brook $50-150, and Generation Love $20-$60. By the looks of it, there was a lot of merchandise in stock. I noticed an exceptional amount of jackets, from all different brands. There were cute hot pink, black, gray, faux leather, and other jackets and puffers. Snowman NY had a bunch of cute red and black vests also. Also, Generation Love had a bunch of great black, gray, pink, and white sweaters that were only $35 each. This sale was really great.
