John Paul Ataker sample sale review shopdrop app new york

While we’ve seen the John Paul Ataker sample sale on our app for a few months already, we weren’t sure how it worked until we got over there and checked it out for ourselves. The key to the sale being ongoing is that it takes place at the back of the flagship store on Madison Ave. The racks are lined with current season gowns and separates. All sample sale items are in the back of the store. In terms of variety, all items in the store are meant for evening wear, think charity balls, gala dinners, weddings and parties. There are many designs and sizes. An added bonus is that you the store has a ton of its original fabric. If you like a gown and want to alter it, you can get extra material and work on it later. Items on the sample sale rack start at 50% off and drop all the way down to 90% off retail. The full-price gowns sell for $1,300-$8,000. Sample sale items cost between $150 and $780. If you are in need for an eye-stopping evening gown, stop into John Paul Ataker and get yourself one. As always, photos and prices below. Enjoy!

Pop Into the Alice & Trixie and Love Sam Sample Sale

By Melissa Atkinson, The Reasonable Style

No need to plan out your sample sale shopping today when you can shop 2 brands at one sample sale. Alice & Trixie plus Love Sam equal sample sale heaven. With an entry way and an additional room filled with samples and stock items, you wouldn’t even know where to start. Alice & Trixie had more to offer at this sale offering both stock items ($39-$79) and vintage samples that started at $3 for the vintage pieces, yes $3. I was surprised myself when I seen the price tag. Although some of the items were defective, there were other items that were in great condition. You have to take your time and be patient in order to score something good on those racks.

Vintage Dress $5

Vintage Dress $10

Love Sam had more wear now pieces from stock ($25-$75). They even had 2 Shearling Coats available (I’m sure that they will be gone by the time you read this). The prices were not listed, it instructs you to see an associate so you know that the price was similar to retail.

Both brands offered a range of sizes, mostly small sizes. Also available were small accessories like scarves which were 3 for $15 and shoes in ALL sizes. The shoes were gently worn but they all were on sale for $30 from brands like TOPSHOP and Steve Madden to name a few.

This sale came right on time for the holiday season. You can get quite a few items for your loved ones without hurting your pocket. Want to check it out, head over to:

Invitation Only – Jimmy Choo Sample Sale Review

By: Amanda Fontana

The Jimmy Choo invitation-only sample sale took place at the Met Pavillion two weeks ago. The enormous showroom was completely filled with a massive stock ranging from women’s shoes, boots, purses, scarves, sunglasses, belts, and even a selection of men’s shoes. Prices started at $50 and ranged to $450, a massive discount considering Jimmy Choo pieces often retail for upwards of $1,000.

Most accessories were one size, but the shoes had a massive range of sizing. There was also a variety in purse sizing as well, so smaller evening purses were much cheaper. Check out the photos to see a small range of all the products!

The sale was exclusive and required a pass to enter, and the line to get in went around the block– even for press. That said, the wait was definitely worth it; the sale was extraordinarily busy, but the products were all amazing and worth browsing through.

The event only lasted for two days– three, if you include VIP early access– so if you’re interested in attending private sales like this one, be sure to RSVP and follow the instructions on the app! They come and go very quickly, and invitations can be hard to come by if you wait too long. To stay up to date on more exclusive and invitation-only sample sales, be sure to download the ShopDrop App, follow us on Instagram, and add us on Snapchat @shopdropapp!

TRACY REESE sample sale review

Tracy Reese sample sale review

The Tracy Reese sample sale is hosted in the brand showroom in the fashion district. The highest priced items are $80, and they include the embellished coats. All dresses and rompers are $60, bottoms – $50 and tops $40. Most of the items are on the smaller side but there are a few sweaters that would fit larger sizes.

Here are some notes & photos from @GarmentDistrictDiva from the sale:

Beaded evening frocks for $60, are a steal.   As are $40 3D floral beaded tops.  Consider what you might need to layer under or over these pieces for winter soirees. There are a lot of vintage included $80 coats, so if you missed out on a previous season or are looking for a one of a kind look for the holiday season, this sale is your stop.  Also anticipate pieces that may not have made into the production and frocks for all seasons.

There are  some current pieces – spotted the pleated bell sleeve boxy blouse($288)  and the cascade pleat blouse ($248) selling for full retail at department stores.  They are only $40 at the sample sale, on-trend update.  Most garments were size 4, but some felt smaller, like a size 0 or 2.  Some of the tops run roomy. Try everything on.  Squirrel away some of the summer dresses for hot summer days or a resort vacay.

You may walk away with one special  spot-on piece perfect for a wedding  or an armload of dresses.  Be prepared for compliments.
If you still want to hit it up, you have till the end of the week. Photos below. Enjoy.

Harvey Faircloth Sample Sale Review

Harvey Faircloth

By Melissa Atkinson, The Reasonable Style

Fall weather is officially here and so is the Harvey Faircloth Sample Sale filled with Fall 2017 stock items. With a decent portion of the showroom dedicated to the Harvey Faircloth line, there are a variety of product categories to shop for this Fall season. Items include tops, pants, skirts, jackets and many more ranging in sizes 0-10 and small-large. Prices were between $45 and $850 which is a wide range and more than I personally anticipated price wise. The good news is that yesterday they were offering an additional 20% off already up to 60% off prices which was a great incentive. The sales reps did not confirm nor deny if the additional 20% off will be continuing on for the duration of the sale but I recommend heading over to the sale to try your luck.

Check out some of the items and its sale price (excluding the additional 20% off) that were available at the sale below.

The Row Sample Sale Review

The Row is a ready-to-wear fashion line created by the Olsen twins. Their showroom, taking place at the Met Pavilion at 123 W 18th St on the fifth floor, features pieces that can retail for over $1,000.

There’s a huge variety of items to look at; between clothes, outerwear, and shoes, there’s something for every occasion. Sizes vary from 0 to 12 and XS to L, and prices range from $200 to $1,000 for more extravagant pieces. Shoes are in European sizes, so remember to check a conversion chart to find your size.

Some personal favorites of mine were their blazers, silk tops, and trousers. The showroom is enormous, so it’s hard to narrow it down; be sure to check it out for yourself!

This sale is credit card only, and bags are checked, so come prepared!

Fashion Sample Sale

Does the Sample Sale Ever Really End?

It happens sometimes, there’s a sample sale that you really want to go to, but for whatever reason you’re just too busy and just can’t make it. However, there’s still a little hope that you can still snag a deal on that designer clothing.

On my way to a different sample sale in SoHo, I wasn’t paying attention and walked into what I thought was the sample sale I was planning on going to, but boy was I wrong. I ended up at what I like to call the 260 Sample Sale warehouse of past sales. There, they had the leftovers from various of their most recent sample sales, with a pretty full size run, at the price point the sample sales usually get discounted to on the last day, and what I found to be the best thing was that I was alone. This specific location that they have doesn’t get any mention on their social media nor is it even listen on their website, but it is there and a true hidden gem for those who know about it.

When I went they had pieces from Bonobos, Scotch & Soda, Brian Atwood, Ben Sherman, Maiyet, Velvet, Peuterey, Barbara Bui, Elle Sasson, Nest Candles, along with many other brands. So whether you’re a man or woman into fashion, or you’re into the home goods and accessories side of sample sales, this location is perfect for you.
