The Helmut Lang Sample Sale had a lot of product available for both men and women. They had a good selection of previous seasons’ sweatshirts but not a lot of sizes (mainly larges). Even though they were discounted, this sale was still pretty expensive. Sweatshirts were $99 and dresses were $129 which I think is a lot for a sample sale.
They had a nice selection of menswear and womenswear as well as accessories. They had some shoes, but not a lot, for $149 and a good selection of bags and belts, bags being $99 and belts being $20. They also had a lot of leather goods available, all for $349. Skirts were a bit expensive for $120 but they were cute and they had a lot available.
Overall, I gave this sale an 8/10, overall the sale had a lot available and there were good discounts, but I felt they could have been better for a sample sale.

The Theory and Helmut Lang Sample Sale has a lot to offer in terms of clothes and shoes! There was definitely more Theory merchandise than Helmut Lang but there was still a good amount to make the trip worth it. Theory ranged from $50-$155 while Helmut Lang ranged from $60-$155. They had a variety of clothes including tees, bottoms and outerwear and a lot of sizes available. Tees were around $50-$60 while dresses were $70-$80. Suede and leather pieces for both brands were the same price, ranging from $109-$199 and $399 for fur.
They both had a lot of shoes available, but Theory had a larger selection. For Theory, shoes and sandals were $60 while boots were $95, and for Helmut Lang, $100 for shoes, sandals and sneakers and and $145 for boots. They had a lot of sizes, ranging from 35-41.
Overall, I gave this sale a 7/10. A lot available in a lot of different sizes and decent discounts.
The Theory and Helmut Lang at Clothingline was a solid 6 out of 10. The brands are relatively popular. We’re happy to have them hanging in our closets, but no one ever died for those brands either.
The racks are filled with merchandise, a lot of it is relatively recent merchandise (and not items from some warehouse from 30 years ago), and the prices reflect that as well. In comparison to retail, the prices are a good 70% off, but you still have to shell out $155 for a coat and $65 for a sweater.
Since the sale is at Clothingline, reductions take place as well. Thursday prices drop 25%, and we bet that by Friday, prices will drop another 15%-25%. If you’re looking for staple items to fill your wardrobe, don’t miss this one. As always, detailed photos (and pricing) below.

The selection available at the Helmut Lange sample sale was impressive, featuring a mixture of both really unique and very simple pieces. The showroom was filled with sequin dresses, grey metallic jackets, pink fuzzy skirts, and silver tipped cowboy boots. The sample sale was organized by style, not size. The sale featured both men’s and women’s clothing styles, but only women’s shoes, which were kept downstairs in their own room. In addition to clothes, there was a small selection of purses which were shaped as bras!
We decided to give the Helmut Lang sample sale a 6.5 out of 10 due to their large and varied inventory. We were disappointed by the prices but have our fingers crossed for prices adjustments!

Theory has been having sales left and right the past six months. I guess it took them leaving 260 Sample Sales to finally becoming a decent sale. This time Theory partnered up with Helmut Lang and found a new home at Clothing Line. We are finally seeing actual sample sale prices at this Theory x Helmut Lang sample sale. Discounts were between 40% – 80% off. Traditionally at Theory sales, prices are still through the roof. All shoes were usually over $100, but this time the most expensive shoe was $75.
The selection was excellent! They even had a small men’s section. Although Clothing Line’s space is a little dingy, you definitely have space to shop comfortably. There is enough stock for both summer and winter shopping. Even though you don’t want to think about coats in the middle of July, it doesn’t hurt to grab one now at these prices. Unfortunately, the Theory x Helmut Lang sample sale is a few day, it’s deff worth checking out. Let us know what you think. Happy shopping!

This week at the Clothingline space are the Theory & Helmut Lang Sample Sales. These two brands often share sample sale dates at Clothingline, evenly distributed on the sales floor. There is a range of sale items including apparel, shoes and accessories mostly for Women. They made a space for the Men’s apparel in the back with two rounders and two full wall racks of items. The sizes were well represented for both genders however the majority of the items were in smaller sizes including shoes (largest size that were spotted was size 39) in both stock and true samples. The price range is from $25 to $155 which isn’t terrible considering that most of these items retail well over $500, so the savings is massive!
Full price list is as follows for both brands:
Tees & Tops $50
Skirts/ Shorts/ Pants $55
Dresses/ Jumpsuits $70
Blazers/ Zip Up Sweatshirts $100
Boots/ Booties $125
Vests & Outerwear $155

Whether you are looking for casual pieces or work wear, there is so much to choose from at this sale. I would recommend adding this sale to your places to shop list this week. You might get lucky if you go on the last days of the sales to score even more deals as they tend to reduce prices towards the end of the sale. You risk not having a large selection to choose from but if you’re not looking for anything in particular, I would suggest going then. You will definitely make out big!

This year at the Golden Globes award, most stars wore black gowns to support theTimes Up Now and #MeToo campaigns to end sexual harassment. Whether you’re looking for that perfect LBD or long gown for your next big event, you can shop the same brands worn at the Golden Globes at sample sales in NY. Our fav was Alexis Bledel in an Oscar de la Renta romper (sample sales 2x year), Jimmy Choo heels (sample sales 2x year). A list of sample sales and looks below. Enjoy!

If you’re wondering how the Helmut Lang sample sale went over, this post is for you. I spent the weekend hitting up the Helmut Lang sample sale at Chelsea Market and here are my three takeaways. First, great merchandise. Second, love the layout of Chelsea Market. Finally, the discount was significant but not significant enough for many.
So the merchandise. We’ve been to a number of ‘fake’ sample sales where you show up to find two and a half items hanging limply in the closet. That wasn’t the case here. The showroom at Chelsea Market was filled with all the merchandise you can imagine: men, women, shoes, dresses, pantsuits, jackets, outwer-wear, tops, lingerie… you name it. Everything was sorted by category and size, so finding your ideal size and item wasn’t difficult at all.
Second, we love the layout and feel of Chelsea Market. It’s located on the ground level and feels like any other store. They don’t make you check your bag in at the beginning, although they do check your bag when you exit, and there are dressing rooms at the back. That being said, you get what you paid for. Which brings us to point three.
Prices: although the discount was 60% for most items, the items were still quite pricey, and if you chose two items at random, chances are you would be spending more than $500 on your purchase. The funny thing is that the nicer showrooms (like Chelsea Market) charge the brands to run the sample sales, which makes the ultimate price more expensive. If what you’re after is the best deal, then look out for the sales happening in the offices of the brands (i.e. 25th floor or Suite 1608). These are usually marked super low because the brand just wants to get rid of excess merchandise – the last sale I was at had everything marked at $20, when the retail prices were over $300. It was crazy. Okay, okay, back to Helmut Lang. The signs indicated that if the retail price was between X & Y, price would be Z. So for example, at the jacket section, if a jacket was between $595 and $795 at retail, at the sale it would be $295. There were some adorable furry shoes for $189 down from (!!) $595.
