I’m saying “Boooo” to the Jimmy Choo Sample Sale

By: Jacqueline Munro

Overall I was not impressed by the Jimmy Choo sample sale. The sale is taking place at 123 West 18th St. in the Metropolitan Pavilion. If you’re having trouble finding it, just look for the insanely long line of people standing on the sidewalk.

At this sale there were TONS of shoes; I was shocked by the amount of merchandise when I walked in. All of the shoes were organized by size. Each size ranging from 34.5-41 had its own section of racks/tables that were overflowing with shoes. The prices for women started at $200 and went up to $375 plus an additional $200 for any exotics. There were lots of pumps and wedges but sadly there were not as many boots/booties, sneakers, or flats. The sneaker selection that they did have was pretty underwhelming and the flats weren’t great either. There were a few hot pairs of booties, though! Additionally, there were lots of sandals, which is quite unfortunate given that were almost in the month of November. But for all of you snow birds out there, this sale is the perfect place to start prepping your s-winter shoe-drobe. In addition to all of the shoes, there was also a small selection of bags ranging from clutches to large totes, and they’re selling fast! The mens section was decent and all shoes were $150 which is great! How come women’s shoes couldn’t be priced like that!?

Overall I rated this sale a 6.5/10. Although there were approximately a gazillion pairs of shoes, a lot of them were outdated and just down-right ugly. The pricing was okay, but not amazing and the line was absurdly long. I’d say go if you’re a huge Jimmy Choo fan, but don’t expect to be wow-ed by anything.

The second Jimmy Choo Sample Sale of the season had me looking forward to some amazing deals and long lines to get in . Fortunately, only the first half was true in that there was absolutely no line to get into the sale. Prices ranged from $150 to $650 which is a STEAL for Jimmy Choo. The seemingly endless array of discounted Jimmy Choo shoes and bags was absolute heaven.

Though I loved all of the discounted bags and shoes available, they were thrown haphazardly around the showroom. The racks of shoes were messy and mismatched. Though the racks were available for the shoes to be displayed, many of the shoes were lying on the ground. Also, some of the pieces were  damaged and dirty which is not something I want to see from a brand like Jimmy Choo.

Overall, I gave this sale a 7/10. Loved the product, but wish it was a bit neater. Happy shopping!

Twice in One Year: The Jimmy Choo Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

We can’t believe it either. The Jimmy Choo sample sale usually rolls around at the start of every spring. We are already mentally prepared for scoring an invitation, waiting in line, competing with other shoppers, and waiting for those last day reductions. However, we were not ready for the Jimmy Choo sample sale to pop up this week as well! There’s not much of a difference between the spring sale and this sale, except for the selection. This time around the selection was much better. I remember back in the spring being disappointed with the selection and only leaving with one pair of boots. There were also repeat shoes from previous sales.

Pricing was almost the same as last time. Women’s shoes started at $250 instead of $200. Men’s shoes obnoxiously started at $150. Bags also started at $250. They had a lot of merchandise out, especially in size 37. It was also very well organized by size. The line to get in (even with an invitation) was extremely long. It went down 18th St. and wrapped around 6th Ave. When shoppers finally entered, boy were they shopping! Shoppers had multiple bags filled to the rim! I guess all that waiting makes you crazy! Don’t you worry! They will be restocking all week. Even on the first day, staff members were bringing out new boxes. Happy shopping!

We will be updating this post on Friday to report on reductions. Check back here for more information. Watch our Instagram (@shopdropapp) for live reporting.

The Most Coveted Sale of the Year: Jimmy Choo Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

People began to line up early for the Jimmy Choo sample sale. Luckily, we were able to get inside an hour early with a press pass to bring you the scoop. This sample sale is one of the most coveted sales because of the excellent condition of their samples, large selection, and low prices. The Jimmy Choo sample sale also not only restocks, but prices are slashed in half on the last day.

We gave the Jimmy Choo sample sale a 6 out of 10 ShopDrop rating. They had an abundance of men shoes, women’s shoes, bags, and other accessories. I docked some points because although they had a large inventory, I wasn’t impressed with the styles of shoes. The styles were either super extra or basic. For $200 + a shoe, I need to love them. It’s also unfair that they price ALL their men’s shoes at $150 flat. Yet the women’s shoes, their core business, were priced between $200 – $375.

We will be keeping an eye on this sale throughout the week. Stay tuned for an update on the last day, Friday. For now, details and photos are below.

UPDATE: 5/11/18 – Prices went down at 1:30 p.m. The selection was so so, and it went quickly.  I guess the word about last day prices got out quickly.

The Cure to Met Gala FOMO: Rating The Night’s Looks, and How to Shop Them

By: Cristina Martin

Versace stole the show at this year’s Met Gala. The brand dressed numerous celebrities in Versace’s chicest Sunday School evening wear, fitting the theme, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” The Met Gala, dubbed the “Super Bowl of Fashion,” is the perfect (and usually the only) excuse to go completely extra with your outfit. I always praise those who commit to the theme and give it 110%.

Below are the best and not so best looks from fashion’s most famous evening. If you were sitting on your sofa last night wishing you were there, or lusting to own a fabulous piece from one of these designers, I’ll let you know which Met Gala designer runs sample sales. You’re welcome.

The Kings and Queens of Met Gala 2018:
Met Gala Royalty that committed to the Catholic theme.

Best Dressed Queen: Blake Lively in Versace and Christian Louboutin.
There was a huge Versace sale this year, and we are keeping our fingers crossed for another one next year. Christian Louboutin has sample sales, but they are almost impossible to get in to unless you work for the company or know someone who does.

Best Couple: Jeremy Scott and Cardi B wearing Moschino
Global Fashions hosted a Moschino sample sale recently, with mixed reviews.

Best Dressed King: Chadwick Boseman wearing Versace

Honorable Mentions:

Sarah Jessica Parker: This Met Gala Queen NEVER disappoints. Dolce & Gabbana and Jennifer Fisher dressed her this year. We are still praying for a D&G sale… Hopefully our prayers will be answered soon.

Nicki Minaj dressed as the devil by Oscar de la Renta and Tiffany & Co. The Oscar de la Renta sample sale just passed, and happens every year.

Jennifer Lopez: New York’s “Jenny from the Block,” is strutting down the red carpet with a Balmain dress and Jimmy Choo accessories. The cross on Jlo’s dress can be found on Anna Wintour’s first Vogue cover. Nice touch!  A Balmain sample sale is also in our prayers, but you can shop the divine Jimmy Choo sample sale every spring.

Sinful Looks That Had Me Asleep at the Altar:
These celebs did not follow the theme and were just plain BORING!

Worst Dressed: Jaden Smith in Louis Vuitton
Jaden, I guess thinks he’s too cool to to wear something crazy. Not only did he not follow the theme, he looks like he’s going to grab some lunch on his way to  his next meeting. You’re also that self-absorbed that you have to carry around your gold record? This is the ultimate Met Gala sin.

Worst Couple: The Olsen twins. These two are always a packaged deal. They have the same over-sized look every… singe… year… I think I would die and resurrect if they wore something different. The Elizabeth & James sample sale is their brand, and it’s is opening tomorrow.

Honorable Mentions:

Cara Delevingne: Wearing Dior and looking more like a dominatrix rather than a Catholic school girl.

Claire Danes: Her dress contributed absolutely nothing to the theme. She added three colors together and added a feather. I’m hitting snooze button on this one.

The Jenner Clan: Kris (in Tommy Hilfiger), Kendall (in Off-White), and Kylie (in Alexander Wang) were all SO boring! Not to mention that Travis Scott looks like a World War II German soldier. I guess Kim K. was the only one allowed to slay the red carpet that night. (P.S. Alexander Wang has sample sales.)

5 Things To Know Before Heading to the Jimmy Choo Sample Sale

Jimmy Choo Sample Sale Update

The Jimmy Choo sample sale is really one of the most meaningful moments in sample sale history. And we are extremely excited for the sale to start next week. Below are five tips we collected from pros to ensure that you have the best experience while buying $1,500 shoes for $200.

    1. Plan for a line & RSVP in advance  – if you’re heading to the sale on one of the first two days, give yourself a good three hours to stand in line and search for items without pressure. On the bright side, that’s a good time to catch up on emails, make new sample sale friends and like our posts on Instagram! If you haven’t RSVPd yet, do so now by clicking here and entering the code LANCER.
    2. It’s a man’s world. The women’s shoes start at $200 at the sample sale, while the men’s sell for $150, and if you buy two, you get each one for $100.
    3. For the best prices – go back on the last day! (or just go on the last day – this tip is from @lehoarder). There is still plenty of merchandise – yes, even in sizes 37 & 38 and in the last few hours shoes drop as low as $100 per pair. At the Fall sale there was no line on the last day, still plenty of merchandise in every size.
    4. Don’t expect a VIP experience. This is a sample sale and it doesn’t feel like the shoe floor at Bloomingdales or anything like that. Expect to check in your bag, stand in line to get in, in another line to check in your bag, and in another line to check out. The shoes are sorted on tables by size – and are held together by rubber bands.
    5. Dress smart. You will have to check your bag in, so make sure you have pockets to keep your phone & wallet and something that you could try shoes on quickly and easily without hating the way you look.

Invitation Only – Jimmy Choo Sample Sale Review

By: Amanda Fontana

The Jimmy Choo invitation-only sample sale took place at the Met Pavillion two weeks ago. The enormous showroom was completely filled with a massive stock ranging from women’s shoes, boots, purses, scarves, sunglasses, belts, and even a selection of men’s shoes. Prices started at $50 and ranged to $450, a massive discount considering Jimmy Choo pieces often retail for upwards of $1,000.

Most accessories were one size, but the shoes had a massive range of sizing. There was also a variety in purse sizing as well, so smaller evening purses were much cheaper. Check out the photos to see a small range of all the products!

The sale was exclusive and required a pass to enter, and the line to get in went around the block– even for press. That said, the wait was definitely worth it; the sale was extraordinarily busy, but the products were all amazing and worth browsing through.

The event only lasted for two days– three, if you include VIP early access– so if you’re interested in attending private sales like this one, be sure to RSVP and follow the instructions on the app! They come and go very quickly, and invitations can be hard to come by if you wait too long. To stay up to date on more exclusive and invitation-only sample sales, be sure to download the ShopDrop App, follow us on Instagram, and add us on Snapchat @shopdropapp!

Jimmy Choo Sample Sale Review

Jimmy_Choo_Pumps

By: Maura McNulty

Well, it happened. As I sit here writing this, I am still in disbelief that not one, but two pairs of Jimmy Choos are in my closet; not the banged up stuff thats unfortunately a risk for high end brand sales, either, but shoes that are practically in mint condition.

I was fortunate enough to score a VIP press pass (I love my job!), so on a cold Wednesday morning, I was huddled in line outside of the sale, with the other “VIPs”, ready to score some sweet kicks.

To be honest, its a mixed bag when it comes to name brand sample sales; they tend to be too crowded, its only basic pieces, or the prices are still astronomically high. Yet, the Jimmy Choo sale was well stocked, the prices are amazing, and the space is huge.

There was also a great selection of purses clutches. It seemed like that had enough boots for an army as well, but the table was too cluttered to get a good enough look.Jimmy_Choo_Prices

All in all, its a sale that’s definitely worth checking out, especially if you love labels. The shoes are gorgeous, and the prices are low enough for a few good splurges; everything at this sale is worth the splurge. Check it out- todays the last day!

Sample Sale Review: Jimmy Choo

How appropriate is it that the first truly warm day this month coincided with the Jimmy Choo sample sale opening? I showed up near the Met Pavilion at the early hours of dawn to reserve my rightful place in the line of anxious bargain hunters and fashionistas! Okay, maybe it was 11AM and I really didn’t feel like rolling out of bed that early. Whatever, still felt like dawn to me. So I stood there for a good hour staring at my phone and feeling the sun beat down mercilessly on my sweltering head. Observing those in line was fun: the girl who nearly pulled off her shirt in genuine frustration, the man who was saying something quite passionately into his headphone in a different language to someone who must have been thrilled to be on the receiving end and the girls who looked like they walked off the runway to grab some Jimmy Choos. All in all, the line moved relatively quickly, and I made the trek up four flights of stairs to learn that I now earned the right to stand in yet another line, where I would receive a ticket in exchange for my bag and then voila! I entered paradise.

The wait was completely worth it – the white room was filled with people scurrying from table to table. The crowds were managed nicely, there was enough room to approach each table, check out the merchandise, try on a few shoes and move on. The tables were organized by size – so if you are a size 8, you would walk over to the few 8 tables and try on shoes until you were content. The selection was awesome: flats, heels, booties, boots, sandals – you name it. There was also a table with accessories, which included awesome purses, hard-cased clutches and handbags. Prices ranged between $200 and $350 for all items. Considering the fact that at retail, Jimmy Choo shoes cost between $625 and $4,425 (I kid you not), the shoes at the sale are practically free. Well, at least you would think they are by the huge bags of shoes people were walking out with! Anyhow, I’ll stop bogging you down with details and will let you enjoy the pictures from the sale. These are from my iphone but I will try to have more professional photos down the road.

If you want to hit up the sale, you will need a special code so email me at estee@shopdrop.app and I will send you all the gory details.
