Today we had a chance to preview the Sies Marjan Sample Sale which opens to the public at 12 PM today. The sale features tons of shoes, dresses and jackets from their collection.
If you are unaware of Sies Marjan, the brand is upcoming and sells at retailers like Barney’s, Net a Porter and Moda Operandi. The clothing is extremely chic and comes in stylish colors (cough cough mint – biggest color of the fall people). Beware because lots of the merchandise are true samples, hence they have pins, odd stitches and stains (always check before you buy). The pricing is incredible having tops/knits for $50 and pants/skits for $60! While there are tons of mules for fall and they are only $50 (everybody loves a good pair of mules).
Overall we have this sale an 8 out of 10. We are telling you, this brand is gonna be big (just you wait). Better to buy now than see it on an influencer and regret it later.
Today we had a chance to preview the Bottega Veneta Sample Sale. Similar to last years sale, there were tons of knot bags, leather accessories, and clothes to chose from,
The Bottega Veneta Sample obviously had stellar pricing, runway dresses for $200 (deep breaths) and shoes ranging from $100 – $150 (take a sip of water/wine). While the pricing is clearly amazing, the merchandise was disappointing. A ton of the separates and jackets were spotted at the Summer 2018 sale. While you shouldn’t worry, there are tons of leather goodies available for purchase at + 80% off retail price. What about the knot clutch? (because we know everybody is gonna ask). There is a decent selection of the knot clutches available. They ranged in price from $250 (mostly satin) to $750 (special collection/exotics). Accessories like belts, scarves, jewelry and sunglasses ranged from $50 to $200 dollars.
Overall we rated the sale a 7.5 out of 10. While we really had our hopes us for this sale, we left empty handed. The duplicate pieces from 2018 really didn’t sit well with us but the pricing was just too good. If you love the brand, we recommend you stop by. Beware there will be big lines throughout tomorrow and the next day, and phones are strictly not allowed.
This morning we had the chance to stop by the Vita Fede Sample Sale in midtown. The sale featured a limited selection of archive pieces but a majority of the sale was dedicated to current season merchandise. The current season merchandise was only discounted 30% off (something we don’t love to see). While the archive bins featured tons of rings and bracelets for anywhere between $20 to $50 (something we love to see). The sale is extremely organized and the staff is very attentive!
Overall we rated this sale a 6 out of 10. While we did love the archive pieces, the current season merchandise was expensive. If you love the brand, we recommend you stop by.
The APL sample sale started today, but all of the most generic sizes are already sold out. Unless you wear a 5-5.5 or 9.5-11 it is very unlikely that you’ll find anything. I only saw one size 7, and it was the ugliest sneaker I’ve ever seen. The staff members told me that they’re not restocking either, which is a total bummer.
All of the sneakers are $75, unless you’re buying a cashmere pair; those will cost you $95. There are a ton of options as far as colors go, but if you’re looking for neutrals and dark colors they’re few and far in between. But most importantly, I’m disappointed in the discounts. A sample sale price of $75 for a $140 pair of sneakers is just not good enough. I’m not surprised though given that 260 is hosting the sale. Overall I rated the sale a 5/10, and I’m sure you can understand why.
Hello and welcome back to our Sales Styles Series! We are back and this time we interviewed New York based fashionista @the.sales.girl!Sales Girl is a fellow devoted member of the sample sale community in New York City as well as searching every corner of the internet for the best designer deals. If you were to check out her Instagram on any regular day, you would find tons of screenshots of deals online as well as live photos taken from the best sales in NYC.
@the.sales.girl told us she has been shopping at sample sales since college (I mean it’s never too early to get a good deal). While she started her Instagram based on the fact that the only media outlet providing insight on the merchandise was ShopDrop! She felt like there needed to be more coverage on the products at sample sales. Regarding her screenshots of the online deals, she just wants to help out her sale sisters/brothers! Sales Girls said she devotes around a half hour to an hour each day online searching for designer goodies. She said uses a lot of filters for specific designers and said that Barney’s was her favorite (they save your favorite designers – making it that much easier). She also mentioned Cettire having great finds but it is a pain to search through. Her favorite place to shop in-stores is Barney’s Warehouse and she swears by it. @the.sales.girl described herself as “thrifty as f*ck” and we really couldn’t agree more! Check out below to see her answer from quick questions.

Calling all the fashionistas in the New York Tri-State Area! If you haven’t heard, Hermes will be hosting a Sample Sale in two weeks! So you better start saving now or apologizing to your significant other regarding your next credit card bill.
We gathered past intel from some amazing sale ladies to give you a picture of what to expect at the sale. Last Fall, Hermes hosted a Sample Sale at the Americana in Long Island. One of our team members attended the sale and said Hermes began giving out tickets at midnight. Apparently the early bird gets Hermes Twill Scarves and Oran Sandals (I mean you can sleep when you’re dead – at least you will be wearing Hermes).
Past Hermes Sales have had shoes, including the coveted Oran and Thalassa Sandals. While we heard from HolyinMundane that there will be Ready to Wear, but there will be no enamel bracelets or silk scarves (we are literally praying to the sales gods that this isn’t true). Also, the sale does not usually feature bags and home. The question everybody is pondering, what are the discounts like? Generally in the past, shoes and accessories were 50% off and other items ranged from 50% to 70%. Another thing about the Hermes Sale, you do not receive the highly notable orange box. Rather, the merchandise is given to you in plastic/clear bags.
What we remembered most, was the strict no photo policy. At the entrance to the sale, the clerks taped your phone. If you lifted as much as the edge of the tape, there was void printed all over it and security swiftly escorted you out of the sale.
No one timed you, which was great while you were shopping, but sucked while you waited in line. They restocked the merchandise every day.
Will you be attending the sale? If so, then stop by and come say hi to us! ShopDrop will be providing coverage on the Hermes Sample Sale so make sure you check Instagram to get live updates!
Today we had the chance to checkout the Philosophy Designer Outlet Sale in midtown. The sale had a variety of designers including Philosophy, T TAHARI and Catherine Malandrino.
The sale is extremely organized and run by an amazing staff which are ready to help you right when you walk in the door! While we expected the sale to feature lots of merchandise from Philosophy we were disappointed to find out that there was a limited selection. There was tons of T TAHARI dresses and tops as well as a variety of pieces from Catherine Malandrino. There is a large selection of work appropriate clothing at a discounted price.
Overall we rated the sale a 5 out of 10. While there was a huge variety of clothing, the pricing was not great. If you are in need of any work chic clothing that will both be appropriate and impress the office, you should stop by!
Today we had a chance to checkout the PRIVE Mens and Women’s Sample Sale downtown inside Chelsea Market. The sale featured a ton of both mens and women’s brands such as Onia, Derek Lam, Vince, and Toms. The Vince shoes were priced at $75 dollars and there were some great finds. The ready to wear pieces from Derek Lam were limited but there were some gems. The greatest find was Onia X WeWoreWhat collaboration pieces for $25 dollars when they are still full priced online. Whether you are lounging on the beach this upcoming holiday or going out to brunch with your besties, a new outfit never hurt anyone. There is also a ton of stuff for the men in your life!
Overall we rated the sale a 7 out of 10. There is a huge variety of brands down at Prive for some good prices. If you haven’t escaped the NYC swamp for the week, we recommend you stop by!
I checked out the Funky Soul sample sale today and everything was so cheap! Although there was not a huge selection, the prices were too good to pass up! Furthermore, the staff members could not have been more helpful.
At this sale, the majority of the merchandise was made up of jeans. There were lots of different styles, but most of the sizes were on the smaller end of the spectrum. Some of the tops were really cute and there were even a few denim jackets, but the best part of this sale was the kind staff. Normally when I review a sale, I can feel the employees stalking me while I take pictures of the merchandise. But these girls were more than happy to set up clothing for photos, and when I wanted to try something on they were beyond helpful with their recommendations!
Overall I rated this sale a 7/10. The prices were great and the employees could not possibly have been nicer. These two things completely distracted me from the fact that the selection was a bit underwhelming.
Today we had the chance to stop by the Chuckies Liquidation Sale located on 74th and Lexington Avenue. Chuckies is a boutique shoe store with multiple locations across NYC! They carry a variety of designer brands such as Repetto, Alexander Wang, Dior and more!
The sale is organized into different sizing and pricing options. Spotted on these racks were tons of Loeffler Randall sandals from $49 to $129 dollars. There are some drool worthy Alexander McQueen boots for $329 as well as a ton of Repetto ballet flats for $129. While if you have small feet (think size 5.5 & 6) or big feet (think 10 +), you are in luck because there are a lot of options in those sizes. We also spotted some Les Petits Joueurs bags at 80% off!
Overall we rated the liquidation sale a 7 out of 10. While the room is very organized there aren’t that many options for people with size 7 through 9.5. If you are in the area, we recommend you check it out!
