On Saturday, my mother was in the city visiting me, so of course the first thing I did with her was check out a sample sale. We looked up sales using the map feature on the ShopDrop app, when she mentioned how much she loves Wolford, so we decided to head over to 260 Sample Sale’s Fifth Avenue location to find some tight tights.
Since it was at the end of the week, the stock was a little picked over, but there were still plenty of hosiery, teddies, and ready-to-wear options to chose from.
Personally, my favorite aspect of the sale was the jewelry; towards the back of the room, there’s a table set up with the most beautiful bejeweled chokers and necklaces. Paired with a silk nightie and some heels, and you’re on your way to looking like Bella Hadid stepping out of Tao and into a sea of photographers.
If you’re looking for a chill sale with some amazing markdowns, make sure to head over to the Wolford Sample Sale at 260 Sample Sale. Head over fast, though; the sale ends tonight (Saturday, 10/21) at 7pm!
It’s a Monday in October, which means it is prime time to check out the Reiss London sample sale taking place over on 260 Fifth Ave. The place is crowded but not overcrowded, which is good, because standing outside in the rain would have been absolutely brutal. The shelves are lined 2/3 with women’s items, and 1/3 with mens. There is a rack of jumpsuits, three racks of jackets and coats, two of dresses, two of skirts and two of tops. Sizes range from small to large.
Original price tags are on the clothes, so you know exactly what your discount is when heading to check out. A number of pieces that stood out in my mind: a white and black long jacket in Kate Middleton style (originally $540, here $275), a greyish-turquiose dress that was $420 and is now $120. There were also a few bags and belts on the side. Overall, the sale was great and I definitely recommend you check it out. As always, pricing and images below. Enjoy!
What: Reiss London sample sale
Where: 260 Fifth Ave (between 28th and 29th St)
When: Mon, Oct 9 – Sat, Oct 14
It happens sometimes, there’s a sample sale that you really want to go to, but for whatever reason you’re just too busy and just can’t make it. However, there’s still a little hope that you can still snag a deal on that designer clothing.
On my way to a different sample sale in SoHo, I wasn’t paying attention and walked into what I thought was the sample sale I was planning on going to, but boy was I wrong. I ended up at what I like to call the 260 Sample Sale warehouse of past sales. There, they had the leftovers from various of their most recent sample sales, with a pretty full size run, at the price point the sample sales usually get discounted to on the last day, and what I found to be the best thing was that I was alone. This specific location that they have doesn’t get any mention on their social media nor is it even listen on their website, but it is there and a true hidden gem for those who know about it.
When I went they had pieces from Bonobos, Scotch & Soda, Brian Atwood, Ben Sherman, Maiyet, Velvet, Peuterey, Barbara Bui, Elle Sasson, Nest Candles, along with many other brands. So whether you’re a man or woman into fashion, or you’re into the home goods and accessories side of sample sales, this location is perfect for you.
Y-7’s first ever warehouse sale? I couldn’t believe it either, because it was executed to perfection! You can visit the Y-7 warehouse sample sale located at the original Hip-Hop Yoga Studio (Y7 HQ, 262 Bowery, 4th Floor, NY, NY) starting today Tuesday August 15th- Wednesday August 16th; and trust me when I say this, you feel the “namast-ay fly” aesthetic as soon as you walk in. Need I mention their too-good-to-be-true negotiation with the weather? I mean, the temptation to purchase a sweater on a rainy day like today from a vast selection of all-black comfy Y-7 sweatshirts/hoodies with trendy slogan designs?! Y-7 for the win!
But, lets back it up a bit, trekking 4 stair flights up to the warehouse; Y-7 definitely knows its customers, getting everyone to kick a sweat before the goods and glory sales. Ice-cold tea samples (RUNA) served right before the race to the racks is most definitely a well-thought-out refresher of choice, another check for Y-7. As you head inside, the atmosphere gets you bumping and flowing to the most popular genre of music in the U.S right now, Hip-Hop!! Yep, its pretty damn ideal.
I walked in with a mission, to get all the information on site on behalf of the ShopDrop team, and completely got distracted when I saw this Kanye sweater “inspo.” It was Kanye West in pretzel position, hell yeah!! Y-7 is definitely onto something, unique and genius! Lucky for me, there was only 1 small left, so I dropped everything and called grabs! Don’t worry, I took tons of pictures, just for you to see! I mean 40% off today? 50% off tomorrow? I couldn’t resist.
For the rest of the apparel, sizes range from XS-XL in most styles including the hoodies/sweatshirts/tour-style t-shirts, sweats, leggings and sports bras. The prices have taken a steep downfall from $250 retail to $16 or less in apparel and accessories (headbands, face towels, bookbags, candles, phone cases, beanie hats, pins). ShopDrop has you covered ! You definitely want to yoga, sleep, study, eat, netflix in this gear!
P.S. The best part of this sample sale is getting to know the brand! Y-7 established itself in 2013, opening studios all over NYC and LA and has been featured in all the best magazines, (Cosmo, Forbes, InStyle), including Vogue, quoting ” Yoga For People Who Put On Gangsta Rap and Handle It.” It truly cant get better than a recommendation from Vogue, you’ll be surprised how much of a spirit animal this brand can be for you when you shop their gear! Happy Shopping friends!
Descending to the basement of the Katya Dobryakova store on Broome street, we were greeted by a large room, which held the multi-designer sample sale. One thing united all the stands: each one had one-of-a-kind merchandise.
We first chatted with Ariana Boussard-Reifel, who designed the bangles Beyonce wore to the Grammys. Aside from being extremely friendly, her jewelry is stunning! She sells bangles, earrings and rings all made out of metal. Each item is raw and sharp in its design. I couldn’t help myself and bought a pair of gorgeous silver earrings: long oval hoops that instantly made me feel extremely dressed up. All of her items were sold at a steep 80% discount! Yes, that means that items which typically sell for $500 were now selling for $125.
After that we headed to the podium at the back of the showroom, where we discovered the most stunning collection of designer sweatshirts. We had the opportunity to chat with the founder and designer, Katya Dobryakova, about her brand. Unlike most designers, Katya didn’t start her career in fashion, rather, she started in graphic design. Her dream was to transplant the detail of graphics into clothing. And her brand is exactly that. This year’s collection is themed around the circus and her sweatshirts have the most exquisite circus-themed designs. They are all machine-washable, easy to take care of and create a gorgeous effortless look. At the sample sale, they were sold at an 80% discount. So at $100, they were a steal. If you have the time to get to Broome street, do it. You will have no regrets.
For the vintage lovers out there, Marteau was selling some awesome pieces from the 40s in America, Ethiopia and the Middle East. From beads to pearls to knits, there are items for every taste and every budget. There are awesome finds for $25 dollars each! In addition to those designers, there were other items from Alyssa Less, KZ_K, Meredith Marks, Les Savage, Raul Penaranda.
This morning, we woke up at dawn with a mission: see what’s in store at 260SAMPLESALE. They are currently running the Parker event at their 150 Greene Street location in Soho. First, we all met up at Starbucks to power up with some coffee, chat about sample sales, and talk about our plan of action. Ghila gathered all her photo equipment while Goldie made sure Val was runway ready with hair and makeup. Fueled by coffee and anticipation, we plowed through the rain to find what treasures await us!
Laura and Courtney greeted us at the door and the clothing inside blew us away! It was a challenge to decide on only four looks – but we truly believe we’re showing you an excellent selection of all this sample sale has to offer. Clear your schedule and head over to the Parker sample sale at 150 Greene Street. You will not regret it. The sale closes Sunday, April 9th at 5pm.
See the posted price list below, plus imagery of all the clothes we had the pleasure of playing dress up in! You’ll find before and after prices for each piece tagged on the photo.
Be sure to take pictures of all your treasures and tag @ShopDropApp + @260Samplesale See you at the next sale! xx
My first time using the ShopDrop app, I wanted to find a Sample sale that was exclusive and elite, one I could only have access to via the app. So, I decided to check out the J Mendel Sample Sale! You had to register beforehand the day and time you wanted to come, which I loved because sample sales can be very hectic so having an organized system really impressed me.
I loved how much information that app gave me about how to register, the season they were selling, and the discount amount! It made it easier for me to shop and plan beforehand.
When I arrived, I first checked in, they had people in the front making sure everyone was registered. I registered myself and a plus one, which was great because who likes shopping alone? They then had a friendly coat check person who took my coat & bag but let me keep my camera. The next thing I saw were racks full of faux fur shawls, racks full of immaculate dresses, and a corner full of pristine shoes with a sign overhead that read “All $100.” I felt like I walked into my dream walk in closet, one owned by a Kardashian. All the racks were organized by size, making shopping easier. I had to go up a dress size from my usual size, so I would recommend the same for anyone buying designer dresses. I immediately fell in love with every dress I tried on, feeling nothing less than a princess. The showroom provided people to help us like an actual retail store, which was very helpful. They set a spot in the fitting room for me, zipped me in all the dresses, gave me practical advice and assisted me towards other dresses I might have overlooked. The staff there was amazing and extremely helpful. Since there was a registration beforehand, the atmosphere wasn’t at all chaotic. It was very laid back and sophisticated. I felt I like I was in the actual retail store, as I saw stylist work privately with clients and other associates assisting others with purchases, I felt totally comfortably and at ease shopping!
Overall, I had an amazing experience at the J Mendel Sample Sale. If you have an event coming up and you need to buy an extravagant dress, defiantly check out a sample sale first! The design and quality of the clothing was incredible compared to the price it was reduced to. I would even recommend getting your wedding dress at a sample sale if you’re on a budget! I tried on a beautiful couture wedding gown that was 60% off the original price!!! I definitely will be using the ShopDrop app for all my future shopping endeavors!
