260 Sample Sale Current/Elliot Equipment Fashion Joie Review Sample Sale Sample Sale Review ShopDrop

Three Brands Under One Roof: Joie, Equipment, and Current/Elliot Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

For the first time in a long time, I had a good experience at a 260 sample sale. Three brands took over the Wooster Street location. The Joie, Equipment, and Current/Elliot sample sale had no lines to get in, the staff was actually nice, and the shopping experience was pleasant overall. I’m in just as much shock as you are. The space and pricing were organized by brand, so I’ll do that here as well.

Equipment:
That’s the first brand you see after you check in your things. Prices were below $100 and the merchandise was SO cute! However, I am slightly biased because I love Equipment. You can shop from a variety of tops, bottoms and PJ sets for both winter and summer. Most of the merch is from spring/summer, but you can also find some cozy winter sweaters. The Equipment section was very wrinkled, and some of the merchandise had safety pins on it.

Joie:
Joie is up next taking up the left side of the room and downstairs. Prices started at $10 for camisoles and went up to $200 for suede, leather, and fur jackets. Joie had mostly spring/summer items. You can stock up on shorts and tees. They even had a rack of one and two-piece bathing suits in this beautiful blue and white pattern. There were also a ton of denim and dresses to choose from. As for fall/winter items, you could browse through a few sweaters and dresses. Shoes were downstairs. This was very limited as they only had what was out and most of the merchandise was a size 37. There was a very small section for 39 and 40.

Current/Elliot:
The smallest section goes to Current/Elliot. However, denim and pants ruled this section. If you’re looking for jeans, go to Current/Elliot, don’t pass go, don’t collect $200. Prices ranged from $10 – $200. They also had a pretty large selection of long sleeve flannels and button downs, shorts, and long denim skirts.

Overall we gave the Joie, Equipment, and Current/Elliot sample sale an 8.5 out of 10. Although most of the merchandise was spring/summer it was all good stuff. You can also snag a few sweaters and flannels if you look. Shoes were a bit disappointing. Prices were pretty good this time around. I also didn’t leave there in a mad mood for once. We recommend you check it out to stock up on casual outfits. Happy shopping!

Denim for Days at the J Brand Sample Sale

J Brand Sample Sale

By Melanie Capruso

If your wardrobe consists of denim on denim on denim, then the J Brand sample sale at 260 is the stop for you! The J Brand sale features racks on racks their denim pants for guys men and women. The jeans are conveniently divided by style of pant and then within the style by color. All RTW pants are $70, which is around a 70% discount off the usual selling point of $248. The sale also has J Brand samples which are stored in bins in the back of the sales floor. All sample pants are $40 and also organized by size.

The sale also has shoes and other pieces from designer Feit. All of the shoes were downstairs and there was a wide range of sizes for most of the shoes.

We rated this sale a five out of ten because while there was a good inventory, the discounts were not enough to achieve a high rank. While $70 jeans are not too outrageous, one could get J Brand jeans at closing Lord and Taylor on 5th ave for a better deal…

By Melanie Capruso

If you’re still in search of the perfect outfit for those holiday and New Year’s Eve parties, then make your way over to the Jil Sander, Brock Collection, Jonathan Simkhai, and Fleur du Mal sample sale at 260! The sale is FILLED with the perfect duds to turn your friends green with envy. The pieces were organized on racks by designer with tables of shoes in the back. Interestingly, the shoes were from See By Chloe, Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, and Rochas. None of the brands were advertised by 260.

While Jil Sander was the headlining designer of this sale, the real gems were from Fleur du Mal and Jonathan Simkhai. The pieces by both brands were beautiful in both style and quality. We gave this sale a 7 out of 10 because of the beautiful inventory and the decent discounts. The rating could have been higher, but 260 was lining people out in the cold even though the sales floor was not full by any means.

The Retrofete Sample Sale: It’s Time to Partaay!

By: Cristina Martin

With NYE right around the corner, you need to start thinking about outfit choices. The Retrofete sample sale is the perfect place to get some inspo since they are known or their fun, glittery style. Shop for the perfect cocktail dress. Many of the dresses had some type of glitter or sequin element to it, so it’s the ideal opportunity to stand out at your NYE party. The Retrofete had an extensive range of sizes, but not a large selection to choose from. You can look through about five racks and defiantly find a lot of repeats.

The staff was lovely and there was no line to get inside. Prices ranged from $50 – $200. So there are definitely options depending on your budget. Retrofete is also an up and coming brand, so you may just be on the cusp of something new. Get a head start on your New Year’s resolutions and try something different. Maybe your outfit making you the center of attention may  land you that midnight kiss. xoxo Happy shopping!

Early Access at the Marchesa and Neem Khan Sample Sales

Marchesa Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

The November VIP program kicked off with the Marchesa and Neem Khan sample sales. Through our VIP program, you pay one price for the entire month and unlock early access to numerous sample sales. It’s a sweet deal if we say so ourselves. The Marchesa sale opens to the public officially on Sunday. Hosted by Shelly&Rene, the sale was filled with dresses from both notte and couture collections. Racks were packed with dresses, so you have to scour through them to find what you’re looking for. Additionally, the dresses are bagged, so that’s an extra barrier to get through.

We noticed that prices were definitely higher at this sale. They’ve gone up from previous seasons. The addition of Neem Khan also adds some more options for you to choose from. The space is rather small, so VIP’ers were lucky to shop with ease. We are predicting madness on opening day. Definitely check out the sale if you have an upscale event coming up. A Marchesa dress will never disappoint. There’s still time to sign up for our VIP program here and keep an eye out for December. Happy shopping!

Smells like the Holidays at the Nest Fragrances and Manduka Sample Sale

Nest Fragrances and Manduka Sample sale

By Melanie Capruso

I love nothing more than a good oil diffuser. They have the fragrant power of a traditional candle, without the house-burning capabilities…

This week 260 hosted the Nest Fragrances and Manduka yoga supplies sample sale. At 6:00pm, during a light rain shower, there was a line down the block and yet barely any people shopping indoors. There were candles, lotions, soaps, reed diffusers, and liquidless diffusers. All of the scents seems to follow a holiday them. There were pine scents, vanilla scents, a warm subtle cinnamon, and a sugar cookie scent. Many of the products, including the Saharan Spice, Birchwood Pine, and Sugar Cookie, can be found online. While the discounts are not astronomical, these products are current.

The Manduka section was much smaller. There were plenty of yoga matts and foam boxes, and four racks with yoga apparel

We gave this sale a 7 out of 10 for the current and seasonally appropriate inventory.

Wrinkles at the Vivienne Westwood Sample Sale

Vivienne Westwood sample sale

By Melanie Capruso

Usually, for a popular brand’s sample sale I can understand the high price points. But at the Vivienne Westwood sample sale, the quality did not match the price points. The sale featured mens and women’s apparel, shoes, and accessories. When walking through the apparel racks, I noticed that a large number of the women’s pieces were wrinkled and misshapen. I could be alone is this, but I would never spend $300 to buy a wrinkled blouse. Hopefully this is not a trend that will be seen in the rest of the inventory.

We gave this sale a 5 out of 10 because of the condition of the clothes, the high prices, and the lack of sizing. Many items were the only ones of their style and appeared to be very old. Shopping this sale reminded me of shopping at a second-hand store, but with way higher prices…

Get Your Dress Game On at the Parker Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

Summer is back at the Parker sample sale.  There are so many casual and evening dresses to choose from in their large, and chic midtown showroom. If you have a bunch of weddings coming up, this is the sale for you. The most expensive dresses were evening gowns at $180! We can’t even believe it. Parker had a mix of samples and regular stock. Dresses weren’t the only thing on the menu; you can also shop tops, bottoms, jumpsuits, rompers, outerwear, and coverups. Most of the sample were in great condition and $50 or under.

We rated this sample sale an 8 out of 10. Merchandise was excellent: plenty of options and very beautiful pieces! Prices were also very fair. Most items are summer pieces, so you do have to wait until next year to sport it. On the other hand, with the holidays coming up you can stock up on dresses. Happy shopping!

Fashion June Jacobs Peter Thomas Roth Review Sample Sale Sample Sale Review ShopDrop

The Journey of the Peter Thomas Roth & June Jacobs Sample Sale

Peter Thomas Roth and June Jacobs Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

The Peter Thomas Roth and June Jacobs sample was a stress fest! Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great sale, but they can’t get it together. Let me take you through my journey.

I walk in, and it’s complete chaos. Staff members were running around, people everywhere, I don’t even know what to do. Unable to find a shopping basket, I shove myself into the already over-stuffed room. It hit me that this is probably a fire hazard. They didn’t follow their own 25 people maximum. There are so many people in the room; your only option is to get online to check out and shop through there. Yes, you read that correctly, now let me break that down for you. There were bins in the center of the room creating an island and bins along the perimeter of the room. You entered the line at the door and went along the walkway that wrapped around the makeshift island. You can add items to your basket while walking. However, the line was at a standstill, so you were a victim of standing in front of the same bins for quite a bit of time. It was so overwhelming I had to step out. I wasn’t getting anywhere, and this was a clear waste of time.

I returned to drastic improvements. The lunchtime rush has died down, and you can appreciate the sale for what it actually is: a really great sale. Prices are at rock bottom with the most expensive items reaching $30. They even had smaller items for as low as $1! What a bargain! Shop a plethora of skin care products for any skin type. There is a $20 credit card minimum and 10 item maximum.

After I improved my mood and I filled up my basket, it was time to check out. Frustration quickly returned and consumed me. There’s one staff member that solely marks down what’s in your basket. Then you take the paper, and your items to the actual check out person to charge you. Now That’s already extremely inefficient, especially with large crowds. Peter Thomas Roth products and June Jacobs products need to be checked out separately. This doesn’t help with the $20 minimum. So, I had to abandon my June Jacobs products. When I checked out the person who filled the product paper became my cashier since the real cashier was cleaning up. She didn’t know how to check me out and didn’t even bag my items. Talk about inefficiency.

We had to give the Peter Thomas Roth and June Jacobs sample sale a 5.5 out of 10. It’s a real shame because it’s a great sale, but it’s a hot mess, and it destroys the shopping experience. We totally recommend you go, just be prepared for chaos. Happy shopping!
