The Journey of the Peter Thomas Roth & June Jacobs Sample Sale

Peter Thomas Roth and June Jacobs Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

The Peter Thomas Roth and June Jacobs sample was a stress fest! Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great sale, but they can’t get it together. Let me take you through my journey.

I walk in, and it’s complete chaos. Staff members were running around, people everywhere, I don’t even know what to do. Unable to find a shopping basket, I shove myself into the already over-stuffed room. It hit me that this is probably a fire hazard. They didn’t follow their own 25 people maximum. There are so many people in the room; your only option is to get online to check out and shop through there. Yes, you read that correctly, now let me break that down for you. There were bins in the center of the room creating an island and bins along the perimeter of the room. You entered the line at the door and went along the walkway that wrapped around the makeshift island. You can add items to your basket while walking. However, the line was at a standstill, so you were a victim of standing in front of the same bins for quite a bit of time. It was so overwhelming I had to step out. I wasn’t getting anywhere, and this was a clear waste of time.

I returned to drastic improvements. The lunchtime rush has died down, and you can appreciate the sale for what it actually is: a really great sale. Prices are at rock bottom with the most expensive items reaching $30. They even had smaller items for as low as $1! What a bargain! Shop a plethora of skin care products for any skin type. There is a $20 credit card minimum and 10 item maximum.

After I improved my mood and I filled up my basket, it was time to check out. Frustration quickly returned and consumed me. There’s one staff member that solely marks down what’s in your basket. Then you take the paper, and your items to the actual check out person to charge you. Now That’s already extremely inefficient, especially with large crowds. Peter Thomas Roth products and June Jacobs products need to be checked out separately. This doesn’t help with the $20 minimum. So, I had to abandon my June Jacobs products. When I checked out the person who filled the product paper became my cashier since the real cashier was cleaning up. She didn’t know how to check me out and didn’t even bag my items. Talk about inefficiency.

We had to give the Peter Thomas Roth and June Jacobs sample sale a 5.5 out of 10. It’s a real shame because it’s a great sale, but it’s a hot mess, and it destroys the shopping experience. We totally recommend you go, just be prepared for chaos. Happy shopping!

Step Up Your Clutch Game at the Edie Parker Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

With the holidays coming up, you will have more of an excuse to dress up these next few months. Pair a super cute clutch with your party outfit at the Edie Parker sample sale. The sale was held in this tiny little room packed with clutches and accessories. Edie Parker clutches go for over $1,200. Prices at the sale started at $150, and most bags were in the $300 and $500 range. We know that’s pretty steep for a sample sale, but the discount is rather high.

There was a small line to get inside due to the space constraints. Once you got in, you were greeted by a large selection of cute, quirky clutches and accessories. The accessories, including phone cases, key chains, coasters, and trays, were priced a little lower if you’re shopping on a budget. The staff was incredibly sweet and really helpful if you had any pricing questions. So, if you frequent parties then it’s is worth to drop a few hundred bucks on a clutch. Happy shopping!

Twice in One Year: The Jimmy Choo Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

We can’t believe it either. The Jimmy Choo sample sale usually rolls around at the start of every spring. We are already mentally prepared for scoring an invitation, waiting in line, competing with other shoppers, and waiting for those last day reductions. However, we were not ready for the Jimmy Choo sample sale to pop up this week as well! There’s not much of a difference between the spring sale and this sale, except for the selection. This time around the selection was much better. I remember back in the spring being disappointed with the selection and only leaving with one pair of boots. There were also repeat shoes from previous sales.

Pricing was almost the same as last time. Women’s shoes started at $250 instead of $200. Men’s shoes obnoxiously started at $150. Bags also started at $250. They had a lot of merchandise out, especially in size 37. It was also very well organized by size. The line to get in (even with an invitation) was extremely long. It went down 18th St. and wrapped around 6th Ave. When shoppers finally entered, boy were they shopping! Shoppers had multiple bags filled to the rim! I guess all that waiting makes you crazy! Don’t you worry! They will be restocking all week. Even on the first day, staff members were bringing out new boxes. Happy shopping!

We will be updating this post on Friday to report on reductions. Check back here for more information. Watch our Instagram (@shopdropapp) for live reporting.

Just in Time for Fall: The White and Warren Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

We can all agree this fall has been very temperamental. One day you’re in a winter coat, and the next you’re in a tee and a cardigan. Stock up for this crazy fall weather (and probably more to come) at the White and Warren sample sale. The White and Warren sample sale has the coziest cashmere clothing that will keep you warm on the chilly days but won’t suffocate you on the warm days. Their cashmere tees are perfect for layering on those in-between days. My favorite had to be the cashmere shirt and pant set. I swear, I will never leave my sofa with that on!

We rated the White and Warren sample sale a 7.5 out of 10. The merchandise was very cute! It was well stocked, but there wasn’t a ton in there. Two days should be good for this sale. They will be restocking the wraps/blankets, but it is unclear for other items. Additionally, the sale was pretty well priced. It was unclear what was a sample and what was stock, which in turn make the pricing a little hazy. Stock up on cozy cashmere tops, bottoms, sweaters, and accessories this fall! Happy shopping!

The Roberto Cavalli Sample Sale: Take Two

By: Cristina Martin

Two time’s a charm, I guess, for the Roberto Cavalli sample sale. Roberto Cavalli hosted a sample sale just last month at Clothingline. You can read all about how awful that sale was in our full report. This time Soiffer Haskin has taken the Roberto Cavalli burden on and is attempting to rid the merchandise for the brand. Let me tell you, there are clear improvements. Roberto Cavalli is a brand for people who have a flashier taste. (Absolutely nothing wrong with that.) This Roberto Cavalli sample sale had clothing, shoes, and accessories for both the flashy and the subtle dresser. Even some of the flashy items were cute! They had jackets with beautiful beading and patterns. The beautiful beadwork continued onto jeans with unique flower patterns. On the other hand, the horrendous snakeskin outfits were brought from the last sale to haunt us.

We rated the Roberto Cavalli Sample sale a 6 out of 10. They went up three points since the quality and quantity of the merchandise improved.  However, the prices are still very high. I understand that the brand prices in the thousands, but $480 for a Roberto Cavalli jacket is still a bit high in my opinion. Just like the last sale, men make out the best. Men had an array of handsome traditional and non-traditional suits. Men can also browse through sweaters, casual wear, and shoes. There was also a selection of funky pieces, but men’s was definitely tamer. Unfortunately, photos were not allowed at the Roberto Cavalli, but we managed to sneak in some for you all. If you have any questions, please DM us on Instagram (@shopdropapp). Happy shopping!

It’s a Full Moon at the Maje Sample Sale

Maje Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

Don’t get me wrong, the Maje sample sale was actually pretty good, but it was a madhouse in there! Let’s chat about the sale first, and then we will get to the experience.

We rated the Maje sample sale an 8 out of 10. They had a ton of merchandise, and from what it looked like, there was more downstairs. You should have no problem finding your size. The clothing was also very cute. I wanted to leave there with almost everything! You can shop for every season as well. Coats and sweaters for fall/winter, and dresses and skirts for spring/summer. All beautiful! It gets a little tricky when it comes to pricing. The percentage off was actually pretty good! Most items that were retail $300 – $400 were selling for under $100. You can skip the fur coats. Yes, they went from slightly over $1,000 to $495, but you’re paying over $500 (after tax) for fur coats that are just okay. There are better fur sample sales out there, just hold tight. Mini skirts were another thing to skip. They were all SO cute! However, not so well priced. Pants were priced at $55 (more material), and skirts were priced at $75 (less material). You’re not getting the best bang for your buck. Shorts were also priced the same as pants which require less material than pants as well. Some food for thought.

I don’t know what is going on today, but shoppers were C R A Z Y! As usual, there was a line outside. Even though this wasn’t an iconic, insane 260 line, it must have still driven people nuts. Inside shoppers were pushing and shoving, and no one was apologizing to each other. I must have gotten hit several times. Shoppers were very aggressive when going through the clothing. At one point the 260 staff had to make an announcement to the shoppers reminding them that this is luxury fashion, and asking them not to throw things on the floor. They also had to ask shoppers to put items back in their original location. WOW… I don’t know if there’s a full moon coming up or what.

The Maje sample sale is definitely worth checking out. If you’re not dying for Maje right this second, then wait until the crowds die down a bit and for price reductions. Happy shopping, and may the odds ever be in your favor.
