The Kiton Sample Sale is For Fancy Folks

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Kiton sample sale severely lacks in options for women, but for men, there is a huge selection of fancy clothing (mostly suits) waiting to be purchased. Ladies, I wouldn’t recommend going to this sale, but guys, if you love Kiton but hate the price tags, head on over!

Everything at this sale is 65% off retail. Shoes, accessories (such as hats, ties, cufflinks), suits, shirts, jeans, and outerwear are neatly organized throughout the space. All of the items are smartly separated by size and category which makes it easier to shop. The suits at this sample sale are gorgeous. The styles range from business chic to funky dad and I obsessed over most of them. Unfortunately, though the selection of shirts is kind of lame and some of the more intricate pieces with sensitive materials (such as suede) are damaged.

Ladies, there isn’t really much to say here. There is one long rack with different kinds of merchandise mixed throughout. A lot of the items are damaged or in poor condition which is really disappointing. There are some really cute pieces though, and everything 65% off retail. The most impressive items are outerwear but there were a couple of cute blouses.

Overall I am going to give this sale a 6/10. I think 65% off retail for Kiton is good, but not on par with typical sample sale deals. Even though it is a top-notch designer, they could do better. I mean look at the Roberto Cavalli sample sale prices! That’s what all sample sale discounts should be like. But I digress; the staff members at this sale were friendly and helpful, and for men, they had a nice range of options. I think if you’re a guy looking for a fancy new suit, you should go; otherwise, stay home.

Lilla P Sample Sale has us Yearning for Summer

Lilla P Sample SaleLilla P Sample SaleLilla P Sample Sale

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Lilla P sample sale is giving off serious summer vibes. There is a ton of merchandise as well as a variety of sizes in order to accommodate your transition from winter to summer bod. If you like Lilla P or Leo and Sage, or just need to prep your wardrobe for spring, you might be interested in checking out this sale.

At the Lilla P sample sale, there are lots of cute pieces. They have plenty of stylish t-shirts, darling matching sets, cozy cashmere sweaters, and various kinds of dresses. They offer a wide range of sizes and the racks are littered with color for those who embrace the beauty of the rainbow.  This sale is perfect for the preppy girl who loves summer. The only downfall is that the prices are a little steep. I feel like $30 for t-shirts at a sample sale is too much.

Overall, I’m going to give this sale a 7 out of 10The location of the sale was lovely, there was a nice array of products, and the staff members were both friendly and helpful. Despite the fact that the prices weren’t jaw-dropping, I felt that this sale still had a lot to offer. If you’re a Lilla P or Leo and Sage fan and feel like you would be satisfied with 60% off, I’d say check this one out.

Bogner Sample Sale Round Two: Meh.

By: Jacqueline Munro

Alright, I’m going to be completely honest here: I was not impressed with the second round of the Bogner sample sale. Unless you’re totally bored or in absolute dire need of some fancy new ski gear, I’d say skip this one.

At the Bogner sample sale, there is a lot of merchandise for both men and women; ski jackets, pants, boots, helmets, and more. There is a nice variety of colors and styles, and even two small racks for children’s items. You’re probably reading this and thinking, “well this all sounds good to me!” But the rest of it is downhill from here.

The markdowns at this sample sale were lame. It felt more like a semi-annual sale than a sample sale. Sample sales usually offer anywhere from 70%-90% off retail, but most of the items at the Bogner sale were marked down to about 50% or less. This really disappointed me; 50% off isn’t that great when you’re buying very expensive items.

Overall I’m going to give this sale a 6/10. I considered giving it a 5 due to the mediocre discounts, but they did have a lot of options and it was really well organized. The staff members were friendly and helpful, and not having to check my coat was kind of nice. But honestly, If I were you, I would sit this one out. Unless you’re ready to drop a lot of cash, this sale is a slippery slope.

Opening Ceremony Sample Sale: To Die For

By: Jacqueline Munro

There is one word to describe the Opening Ceremony sample sale: epic. Whether you’re a girl or guy, looking for edgy streetwear or chic designer labels, there are endless options. For Manhattan natives, it’s a little bit of a pain to get to Williamsburg, but it is definitely worth hitting up this sample sale.

Boys, get excited; this sale is legit. If you like Opening Ceremony, Raf Simons, Adidas, or Kappa you’re in luck. There is an extremely wide range of t-shirts, hoodies, jackets, and pants—all for good prices. The only issue is that most of the sizes are small/medium; there aren’t many large or extra large options. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the shoes! There are lots of different choices; when I spotted the limited edition Adidas collaborations I was shook! Guys, the line might be long but it will be worth the wait.

Alright ladies, your turn! The merchandise they have at this Opening Ceremony sample sale is to die for. Frills, feathers, faux leather oh my! Seriously though, you have to go. There are classy accessories, gorgeous jackets, tons of sweaters, super cute dresses, funky pants, sexy crop tops, and dope t-shirts and sweatshirts. If you are looking to spice up your wardrobe and add some spunk to your life, this sale is just the way. With brands varying from Alyx to Moschino Couture, there is no shortage of sickening style at this exuberant warehouse. And don’t even get me started about the shoes. The Opening Ceremony shoes are awesome; colorful and good quality. You’ll also be able to cop brands like Giuseppe Zanotti, Proenza Schouler, MM6 Maison Margiela and this year’s favorite: Buffalo London. Girls, get your wallets ready cause this one is gonna hurt.

Overall I’m giving this sale an 8/10. The merchandise was awesome and plentiful, the warehouse was super cool, and the prices were impressive. If only Williamsburg wasn’t so far (or should I say if only I wasn’t so lazy). If you’re in need of some cool new clothes at good prices, this is the perfect place for you. Just try to get there ASAP because stuff is going to sell fast. We love you Opening Ceremony sample sale!

Fashion J Mendel Review Sample Sale Sample Sale Review

Good Morning Upper East Siders, I have J Mendel Sample Sale Secret

J Mendel Sample SaleJ Mendel Sample SaleJ Mendel Sample SaleJ Mendel Sample SaleJ Mendel Sample SaleJ Mendel Sample SaleJ Mendel Sample SaleJ Mendel Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

Traveling to the J Mendel sample sale is like a scene out of Gossip Girl. Their showroom is nestled on Madison Avenue on the Upper East Side. This isn’t just any showroom… This location is closing down amidst their recent financial issues. So what’s the next logical step? Yes, you guessed, sample sale.

The first floor was filled with fur. This is a brilliant move considering the freezing New York temperatures. However, we don’t know if it sparked many impulse purchases, due to the insanely high pricing. There was one coat for $8,000. That may be sample sale pricing for the Upper East Side, but not for the rest of us. Moving upstairs to the second floor you can find a plethora of floor-length gowns, and a few racks of cocktail dresses. There were very few actual samples. Those will cost you in the $900 range. Everything else will run you $1,700 – $3,000+

J Mendel usually has all beautiful pieces. However, there was nothing we felt like were WOW pieces. Especially for those astronomical prices. There wasn’t a shortage of merchandise, and it was very well organized. If you can afford it, check out the J Mendel sample sale before they join Dan Humphry in Brooklyn.

Xoxo, Happy shopping!

G-Star RAW Sample Sale: Where Men Will Shine

By: Jacqueline Munro

The G-Star RAW sample sale is filled with deals for men, but the options for women are much more limited. With that said, the space (at 260) is very well organized, clean, and the floor has no shortage of helpful employees.

If you’re a guy who likes G-Star RAW, there is no doubt you will find something at this sample sale. It’s going to take you a while to sift through all of the merchandise they have for you; there’s no shortage of jackets, jeans, shirts, or even shoes. But girls, I wouldn’t get your hopes up too high. Try not to feel offended by the little back corner devoted to you. For women, they have a small offering of clothing including (but not limited to) jackets, shirts, sweatshirts, and shorts. For a brand that is known for its denim, I felt like their jeans section was a bit underwhelming; this disappointed me.

Most importantly though, the markdowns at this sample sale were not jaw-dropping. G-Star RAW is currently having a large online sale that might be worth checking out before you leave your comfy apartment and head over to 260. Overall, I’m going to give this sale a 6 out of 10; if they had more options for women and lower prices I’d reconsider.

Beautiful Building, Uneventful Sale: The ALTUZARRA Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

The Altuzarra sample sale was held on the 14th floor of the Woolworth building down by City Hall. If you’re an NYC architecture nerd like me, you will really appreciate the beautiful interior as you pass through the lobby. Other than that the Altuzarra sample sale was uneventful. The sale felt more like a regular retail boutique rather than a sample sale. The clothing was very pretty as that brand always delivers nice designs. This sale is perfect if you are going for that urban chic look.

We rated the Altuzarra sample sale a 7 out of 10. Pricing was really confusing, and still quite high. There were only a few racks of clothing and a long table with knits and accessories. The best part of the sale was the shoes. They had a large variety of numerous sizes. If you’re a huge fan of the brand, then check it out. (or if you just want an excuse to go inside the Woolworth building) Happy shopping!

It’s a Thirty Seven Heaven at the Paul Andrew Sample Sale

paul andrew sample sale

By: Cristina Martin

We had the opportunity to check out the Paul Andrew sample sale a day before it opened. Let me tell you, If you are a size 37, (roughly 7 in a U.S.) you hit the jackpot! Paul Andrew had a mix of samples, shoes from previous seasons, and shoes that never went to production. You are super lucky if you got to snag a one of a kind pair of Paul Andrew shoes. Prices started at $25 and went up to $250. However, there weren’t many in the $25 price point. We found only two damaged pairs for $25. Boots were mostly at the $250. Flats and heels were between $50 and $150. If you have an extra special event coming up, then you can browse through two tables of beautiful jeweled evening shoes. Men, we didn’t forget about you! (But Paul Andrew is) They are no longer making men’s shoes. Men can grab most shoes for $100!

We also loved the Paul Andrew showroom.  It is tucked away on 58th St. between Columbus Circle and the Plaza in a residential building. Very Gossip Girl-esque! In conclusion, you have two days to shop the Paul Andrew sample sale. We recommend you go the first day because inventory is limited, and they are not restocking. Happy shopping!

Give Your House a Makeover for a Change at the Mascioni Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

We spend the day shopping for ourselves and neglect other responsibilities like our home. Well, the Mascioni sample sale takes care of that. Mascioni is known for their linen and towels. You can find Mascioni bedding in major hotels around the world. Talk about a vacation at home! Now your home can be as chic as you!

This is the first time we’ve heard of a Mascioni sample sale. The space was tiny and everything was packed away in cardboard boxes. You actually had to ask a sales associate to retrieve an item. That is so uncomfortable. If you’re one of those shoppers that wants to look at everything before you make your final decision, this may be a really awkward sale for you. Prices were good. You can scoop up a king set for $150 – $200.  However, we think it’s worth checking out if you can take out 20 minuets of your day. Happy shopping!

Unique and Funky Pieces at the Helmut Lang Sample Sale

By Melanie Capruso

The selection available at the Helmut Lange sample sale was impressive, featuring a mixture of both really unique and very simple pieces. The showroom was filled with sequin dresses, grey metallic jackets, pink fuzzy skirts, and silver tipped cowboy boots. The sample sale was organized by style, not size. The sale featured both men’s and women’s clothing styles, but only women’s shoes, which were kept downstairs in their own room. In addition to clothes, there was a small selection of purses which were shaped as bras!

We decided to give the Helmut Lang sample sale a 6.5 out of 10 due to their large and varied inventory. We were disappointed by the prices but have our fingers crossed for prices adjustments!
