BS Stands for Belgian Shoes

By: Eve Orbach

To put it lightly, the Belgian Shoes sale was overpriced and a waste of time. After an already disappointing discount of just 50%, you think the good people of Belgian Shoes would try a little harder to make their sale worth attending. But alas, I waited on line for almost an hour… that’s right folks… almost an hour. I do not understand what type of person could rationalize the decision to wait that amount of time for LOAFERS that were $200+, but the world is really filled with some interesting people.

Belgian Shoes is the type of company that sells “crests” on their website. As astutely pointed out by one of our loyal followers, the majority of people attending the sale “looked like attorneys”. The type of customer there is the person who loves to complain about how busy their work life is, and then continue to suffer an ungodly waiting period to buy shoes…for work. Seriously, everyone around me was wearing loafers. If everyone on line protested and just made their own sale of the shoes they were already wearing they would have had many better styles, price points, and a bigger stock. Inside there really wasn’t that many options to chose from, and the space was off putting and honestly smelled like an old age home.

This whole experience was pretty bizarre. I decided to give this sale a 1/10 because I knew that I was going to say some pretty harsh things in this review and giving them that extra 1 point made me feel better. Please, do yourself a favor and skip this one! Legit— still reeling from the whole experience. I feel like I was punked.

TIS’ the season for luxury for less… I got myself to the LES to scout out what the fuss was at the 375 showroom sale… if your budget is high enough it’s definitely something to write home about. Moncler at 30% off. Dior at 35% off. Off white, Moose Knuckles and Louboutin all at a discounted price. Well ladies and gents here’s what’s I think: A) I need a sugar daddy. B) if you’re looking for those brands this was definitely the place to be! I haven’t seen Louboutin this cheap since the dinosaurs. Zadig & Voltaire? More like Overpriced, Beware!

By: Eve Orbach

Parisian luxury brand Zadig & Voltaire’s sale features many cool pieces for both men and women, but the reductions aren’t that great for a sample sale. Since this one is being hosted by 260, as per usual you’re better off waiting for their last-day price markdowns.

The t-shirts ($30), sweatshirts ($60), and denim ($60-$75) are the best deals of the sale. Leather jackets, blazers, shearling, and various other outerwear are priced from $150-$550.

This one is all the way up at 2151 Broadway. Maybe it’s worth stopping by if you’re in the area but I would definitely not recommend trekking too far for this one.

The sale is split into a women’s and men’s section. Clothes are neatly organized by item. There is a wide range of sizes for the pieces, which are all edgy and trendy.

The lines for checkout was really long when I was there, so proceed with caution.

I give this sale a 6/10. There’s a great accessories section and some cool options. This is a sale that requires a keen eye and a little bit of effort, but you might be able to walk away with a stand-out piece.

Rosie Assoulin: 75% off, yet still too expensive

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: The Rosie Assoulin sample sale was very expensive, and therefore not worth a trip. They had gorgeous pieces, but still not affordable. There were casual beach dresses that were now $395- at first glance I thought I had accidentally mistaken it for the original retail price…not the sample sale price! The sale had a lot of merchandise. There were a ton of racks filled with clothing, and everything was very organized (there were multiple pieces and sizes of each item). The sale had a small and messy table in the back that was filled with bags; The bags looked as if they were made of straw and would fall apart the next day.

Merchandise/ pricing: The space had different racks throughout the room that were labeled $195, $295, $395, $495+. There were 3 hats left, and 10-15 bags left ($175 each). I saw really pretty blue high low dresses, and a ton of plaid dresses as well. The plaid dresses were great because they had a dual purpose: they could be cute for work and for dinner afterwards (plaid dresses were $295). Rosie Assoulin sample sale had a ton of stripes throughout the strore; there were striped dresses, stripped shirts, and stripped pants. There was a table in the middle of the room with a lot of “I love NY” hoodies which looked both comfortable and cozy. In terms of accessories, there were a bunch of shoes left (went from around $100-$195)- in shades blue, red, nude, and black.

Rate: 4/10 Great pieces, but too expensive and just simply not worth it.

GREAT DEALS at the Halston sample sale!

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: The Halston sample sale was very organized and spacious! Right when you enter, there were two racks filled with winter coats. The coats were very nice and gorgeous, and looked like they were all in excellent shape. All of the coats were organized very well. There were also a lot of racks of long dresses, short dresses, and pants. Everything was categorized by item, which made it easy to shop. There were 3-4 sections for short dresses; the dresses were both fancy and casual. Most of the dresses looked like they were in great shape, but others- not so much. There were also only two pairs of white shorts left. The accessories were in the back corner; there were a lot of cute winter hats, scarves, and ear muffs. Each item had multiple color options too.

Merchandise/ pricing: The Halston sample sale had excellent deals and prices. The coats were priced according to their style. There was a list on top of the coat rack which made it easy to find the item’s price. The coat prices were originally around $600-$2,000, and now ranged from $180-$360. All of the merchendise had amazing prices: tops now $20, bottoms $20, short dresses $30, rompers $30, long dresses $40, jumpsuits $40, blazers $50, outerwear $75. There were a ton of merchandise and sizes. There were gorgeous fancy dresses that were originally $445 and now were $30! There were also chic pants that were originally $345 and were now $20- WHAT A STEAL! Now onto accessories: all of the styles with real fur were now $20, and the rest were now $15. There were a lot of warm winter hats and all different kinds of colored earmuffs.

Rate: 8/10 The Halston sample sale had AMAZING deals and a lot of cute items. However, not ALL of the merchandise looked like it was in the best shape. This sample sale had excellent quality winter coats that had stunning prints and details. There were cute short dresses and great winter accessories. This sample sale is worth it to go to!

The Schutz Sample Sale is the S*it

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Schutz sample sale is being hosted by Eclipse New York down in Chelsea. So although it was a hike for me to get there, I knew it was going to be well worth it. I love Eclipse because their sales are always super organized, and their staff members are the sweetest.

At this sale, there were tons of shoes… and I mean TONS. It was like a sea of white boxes over a horizon that was made up of tables of shoes. Most of the shoes were sandals (an even mix of flat and heels) and pumps, but there was also a nice selection of boots and booties, mules, and espadrilles. Prices ranged from $50-$135 which I felt was fair. The sample shoes were sizes 6.5 and were going for 50 bucks (I was really happy about that because that’s my size).

Overall I rated this sale a 9/10. There were tons of shoes ranging in sizes 5-11. They had styles and color combos to satisfy any woman’s shoe needs and everything was so well organized. This sale opens to the public tomorrow morning, October 2nd. So get ready to hit it up because you won’t want to miss it!

Sales Styles Series – Interview with @Luxe_Hunt

By: Ashley Randall

Hello and welcome to our new Sales Style Series! Here we will be interviewing some of your favorite fashionistas and sales shopping experts! This past week we had the opportunity to speak with @Luxe_Hunt. If you are not familiar with the user @Luxe_Hunt, she scours every online retailer for the designer deals of the century and links them on her instagram stories. She literally “hunts” for designer goods from Neiman’s to Barneys and everything in-between. If you were to check out her page on any regular day, you would find Balenciaga shoes, Burberry scarves and Prada wallets – all at a steep discount – linked to her Instagram stories. We had the opportunity to ask her some questions regarding her Instagram, how much time she devotes, the sale community and some of her favorite finds!

Luxe_hunt told us that her instagram merely started out as a way to share her great finds with her friends and family. Instead of showcasing her finds, she decided to link the items so others could buy (lucky us)! While Luxe_hunt did not reveal her methods to how she finds all these amazing products, she did disclose that she spends roughly 3 hours a day scouring different sites. The question we were dying to have answered was Luxe_hunt’s thoughts on who has the best sale merchandise. While she explained that sale merchandise goes through different phases. For example, right now in department stores (think Barneys & Nordstroms) they are having discounts as high as 70% off – which is the best you can get. While in the next coming weeks, there will be great discounts at the outlets (think Saks Off Fifth & Nordstrom Rack). Luxe_Hunt also discussed the importance of a Sales Associate and getting them to message you when designer merchandise goes on sale.

The Staud Sample Sale is not for the Faint of Heart

staud sample sale 2019

By: Jacqueline Munro

I have never felt so unwelcome at a sample sale before; it’s as if the employees (well one in particular) forgot that I was a paying customer looking to spend money at their sale. It was disgusting the way I was heckled and embarrassed at the door regarding my ability to enter the sale. I am extremely disappointed in 260 for hiring someone like this to manage the special entry hours.

Aside from that dreadful experience though, the discounts were inconsistent. By that I mean some pieces were priced very well and others were a total rip off. They had lots of funky clothing items as well as a few bathing suits. The bags though were my favorite (and only redeeming) part of the sale. They had all of their classics including the Shirley and Moreau. Usually, if brands have their classic pieces at their sample sale, they are weird colors or sizes, but they had a great variety of neutrals and brights, and large vs. small. I was satisfied by the selection, but it was really hard to figure out the prices of the bags which was super annoying.

Overall I rated the Staud sample sale5/10. I was completely disgusted with the way I was treated upon entering the sale, and I was not happy with the organization of the showroom either; It was a complete madhouse. If they didn’t have the nice bags I would have given it a 1, but I’d like to consider myself a generous person.

They Totally Nailed it at the Rails Sample Sale

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Rails sample sale has some of the most impressive discounts I’ve seen at a 260 sale in a while. And not only are the prices on point, but the merchandise is also super cute! I’m really happy that I went to this sale especially because the clothing is in season! There’s nothing worse than going to a sample sale and buying clothing that you cant wear for three months.

There are plenty of current Rails pieces at this sample sale. Some of the shirts selling for $45 at the sale are on their website for $148 right now. There are tons of cute, soft tops, an abundance of adorable dresses, as well as some super fun jackets and bottoms. All of the items are perfect for the current weather situation. I had to restrain myself from spending every dollar on me. In addition to the plentiful amount of women’s clothing, there is a small section for men and children. The kid’s clothes are so cute that I bought my little cousin two shirts that she won’t even fit in for two years (oopsie).

Overall I’m giving this sale an 8/10. The discounts are great and the huge selection of clothing is more than satisfying. Definitely head over to this sale if you’re looking to enhance your summer wardrobe!

The Isaia and Eidos Joint Sample Sale is Filled with Luxurious Menswear

isaia sample sale 2019

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Isaia and Eidos sample sale has an abundance of stunning merchandise. While some people felt that the pricing was disappointing, I was at least satisfied with the Isaia deals. Given that the brand rarely goes on sale, I felt that the discounts were good enough! As far as Eidos goes, the deals definitely weren’t as good, but they were still alright.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Isaia merchandise that they had at this sale. I was expecting all of the suits to be bright colors or funky patterns but there was a great variety! There were lots of classic styles as well as some more modern ones. They also had a nice selection of shoes, dress shirts, sweaters, outerwear, and pants. The Eidos selection was much smaller but still nice. There were a lot of cool jackets and sweaters, but not as many nice shirts. Some of their merchandise was dirty too which was very disappointing. There was a gorgeous suit covered in dust; that to me is a sign of lazy employees. It wouldn’t have been hard to clean it off before putting it on the rack.

Overall I rated this sale an 8/10. I was definitely more drawn to the Isaia section of the sale given the better pricing and merchandise, but the Eidos section was okay. If you like designer suits but hate the price tags, head over to this sale and stock up!
