We were a little thrown back at the Elie Tahari sample sale because the prices were quite high. There was a ton of merchandise. However, there was more stock than actual samples. Discounts were at about 65% off. You can find the same or better discounts at department stores.
Shoes were your best bet at $50. You can also look through a ton of coats and jackets. Men, You weren’t left out of this sale! The Elie Tahari sample sale was very well set up and organized. That’s such a relief compared to how messy other sales can be. We are really hoping for further reductions. If you’re a huge fan of the brand then stop by and check it out for yourself. Happy shopping!

One question: Why is size 37 the most popular size at shoe sample sale. I’ve been noticing that recently. Even when I visited the Paul Andrew sample sale, 37 seemed to be the only thing on the menu. It’s Deja vu at the Tabitha Simmons sample sale. There wasn’t really any great styles, high prices, and mostly only size 37.
Prices were incredibly high. With Black Friday and Cyber Monday happening this week, high pricing isn’t the smartest strategy. Samples were really close to $100, and the stock only got worse from there. Everything was well over $100, with boots reaching up to $250. The jewelry pricing was insane. Some earrings went up to $300! There will be better deals later this week, and certainly better sample sales happening this week! Happy shopping!

For the first time in a long time, I had a good experience at a 260 sample sale. Three brands took over the Wooster Street location. The Joie, Equipment, and Current/Elliot sample sale had no lines to get in, the staff was actually nice, and the shopping experience was pleasant overall. I’m in just as much shock as you are. The space and pricing were organized by brand, so I’ll do that here as well.
That’s the first brand you see after you check in your things. Prices were below $100 and the merchandise was SO cute! However, I am slightly biased because I love Equipment. You can shop from a variety of tops, bottoms and PJ sets for both winter and summer. Most of the merch is from spring/summer, but you can also find some cozy winter sweaters. The Equipment section was very wrinkled, and some of the merchandise had safety pins on it.
Joie is up next taking up the left side of the room and downstairs. Prices started at $10 for camisoles and went up to $200 for suede, leather, and fur jackets. Joie had mostly spring/summer items. You can stock up on shorts and tees. They even had a rack of one and two-piece bathing suits in this beautiful blue and white pattern. There were also a ton of denim and dresses to choose from. As for fall/winter items, you could browse through a few sweaters and dresses. Shoes were downstairs. This was very limited as they only had what was out and most of the merchandise was a size 37. There was a very small section for 39 and 40.
The smallest section goes to Current/Elliot. However, denim and pants ruled this section. If you’re looking for jeans, go to Current/Elliot, don’t pass go, don’t collect $200. Prices ranged from $10 – $200. They also had a pretty large selection of long sleeve flannels and button downs, shorts, and long denim skirts.
Overall we gave the Joie, Equipment, and Current/Elliot sample sale an 8.5 out of 10. Although most of the merchandise was spring/summer it was all good stuff. You can also snag a few sweaters and flannels if you look. Shoes were a bit disappointing. Prices were pretty good this time around. I also didn’t leave there in a mad mood for once. We recommend you check it out to stock up on casual outfits. Happy shopping!

The Nicholas Kirkwood sample sale opened to the public today at noon. Some Shopdrop users had the opportunity to get a sneak peek for their 8:00 a.m. early access. Wow, were we impressed! You can shop from a large selection of flats, heels, sneakers, and boots for both men and women. Items from previous seasons had great discounts. You can find most shoes for under $200. If you’re looking for something more contemporary, you can pick up current stock for 60% off. You can even snag their famous pearl boots!
We rated the Nicholas Kirkwood sample sale a 9 out of 10. It is very seldom that we give a rating of nine, so you know this sale really stood out to us. Prices were excellent. To get an idea, their flats usually run at around $400, at the sale you can snag a pair for $90. There was plenty of merchandise ranging from 34 to 42.5. Everything was conveniently organized by size. The staff was also incredibly sweet and helpful. Nicholas Kirkwood doesn’t always go on sale, so head over there fast and grab your own pair to take home. Happy shopping!

Sample Sales are always a great place to get designer items at a major discount, which can help those who can’t always afford to shop designer. These discounts were not to be found at The Row sample sale. Even with an apparent discount of 70% off all Ready to Wear, handbags, and footwear, I could not find anything under $500. The Row is the clothing line of famed twins, Mary Kate and Ashely Olsen. The pair are known for their high fashion taste and their collection does not disappoint in that facet. The sale was organized by size and item. Racks with sizes XS, S, M, and L lined the lines with tables of sweaters, bags, and shoes in the middle and front. The pieces were understated and in muted colors, ranging from blacks, grays, blues, whites, and creams.
We rated this sale a 5 out of 10. While there was a wide selection, the pieces were still extremely expensive and nothing stood out as exceptional. It was also interesting to note that the sale was empty, which hopefully goes as a sign that the prices were not good enough to attempt major crowds. The sale also did not allow photos, which might have made it difficult to shop for someone else.

We can’t believe it either. The Jimmy Choo sample sale usually rolls around at the start of every spring. We are already mentally prepared for scoring an invitation, waiting in line, competing with other shoppers, and waiting for those last day reductions. However, we were not ready for the Jimmy Choo sample sale to pop up this week as well! There’s not much of a difference between the spring sale and this sale, except for the selection. This time around the selection was much better. I remember back in the spring being disappointed with the selection and only leaving with one pair of boots. There were also repeat shoes from previous sales.
Pricing was almost the same as last time. Women’s shoes started at $250 instead of $200. Men’s shoes obnoxiously started at $150. Bags also started at $250. They had a lot of merchandise out, especially in size 37. It was also very well organized by size. The line to get in (even with an invitation) was extremely long. It went down 18th St. and wrapped around 6th Ave. When shoppers finally entered, boy were they shopping! Shoppers had multiple bags filled to the rim! I guess all that waiting makes you crazy! Don’t you worry! They will be restocking all week. Even on the first day, staff members were bringing out new boxes. Happy shopping!
We will be updating this post on Friday to report on reductions. Check back here for more information. Watch our Instagram (@shopdropapp) for live reporting.

The private Lanvin sample sale officially kicked off on Sunday. Since it is a private sample sale you need an invitation to attend. Luckily, we made it inside to report back to you.
The Lanvin sample sale is held in a tiny space, packed with women’s and men’s clothing, accessories, shoes, and people. Prices were incredible! Everything was 80% off with the exception of the gowns which were at 90% off. That is incredible for Lanvin. I loved the women’s jackets and blazers. They were gorgeous! Men’s suits were also stunning. They even received archival pieces directly from France! Accessories consisted mostly of scarves for women and bow ties for men. They also had a pretty large selection of shoes. However, size 38 was going fast! People were inquiring about handbags. According to the sales associate they all went the first day, and they will be expecting a new shipment later this week. So… open to the public any time soon??? We don’t know just yet, but when we do, you will be the first to know. Happy shopping!
We had the opportunity to check out the Paul Andrew sample sale a day before it opened. Let me tell you, If you are a size 37, (roughly 7 in a U.S.) you hit the jackpot! Paul Andrew had a mix of samples, shoes from previous seasons, and shoes that never went to production. You are super lucky if you got to snag a one of a kind pair of Paul Andrew shoes. Prices started at $25 and went up to $250. However, there weren’t many in the $25 price point. We found only two damaged pairs for $25. Boots were mostly at the $250. Flats and heels were between $50 and $150. If you have an extra special event coming up, then you can browse through two tables of beautiful jeweled evening shoes. Men, we didn’t forget about you! (But Paul Andrew is) They are no longer making men’s shoes. Men can grab most shoes for $100!
We also loved the Paul Andrew showroom. It is tucked away on 58th St. between Columbus Circle and the Plaza in a residential building. Very Gossip Girl-esque! In conclusion, you have two days to shop the Paul Andrew sample sale. We recommend you go the first day because inventory is limited, and they are not restocking. Happy shopping!

The Butter shoe sample sale was… okay, I guess. There was debate on how current merchandise was and on pricing. Their samples were from the current season and regular stock was taken from last year. Most of the items in the store were samples and a U.S. women’s size 7. We had the pleasure of meeting a loyal ShopDrop shopper. She told us that prices really could have been lower. She also noticed seeing the same merchandise for 3 years now. So when are the samples and sock from again?
We rated the the Butter shoe sample sale a 5 out of 10. Like we said, mixed feelings. In addition to the mystery merch., we were a bit sketched out on pricing. So we tried on a pair of booties, and the sales associate told us it was $50. At check out the shoes were all of the sudden $75. Um what… How do your workers not know pricing. The check out girl wouldn’t even budge on pricing. We won’t be going back, but you can decide for yourself. Happy shopping!

The selection available at the Helmut Lange sample sale was impressive, featuring a mixture of both really unique and very simple pieces. The showroom was filled with sequin dresses, grey metallic jackets, pink fuzzy skirts, and silver tipped cowboy boots. The sample sale was organized by style, not size. The sale featured both men’s and women’s clothing styles, but only women’s shoes, which were kept downstairs in their own room. In addition to clothes, there was a small selection of purses which were shaped as bras!
We decided to give the Helmut Lang sample sale a 6.5 out of 10 due to their large and varied inventory. We were disappointed by the prices but have our fingers crossed for prices adjustments!
