The Karen Miller brand is having it’s second sample sale this year at Clothingline. While I’m not the biggest fan of the brand, I have to admit that prices are quite low. Everything except for the leather items is under $50. There are lots of options for larger sizes (6-12) in clothes and quite a few shoe options as well. The sample sale has clothes for women only – and includes dresses, jackets, tops, cardigans, skirts and pants. A lot of the merchandise is dirty or damaged, so make sure to double check the items before checking out. If you like the British brand, then you still have two days to shop at the sale.
The Jimmy Choo invitation-only sample sale took place at the Met Pavillion two weeks ago. The enormous showroom was completely filled with a massive stock ranging from women’s shoes, boots, purses, scarves, sunglasses, belts, and even a selection of men’s shoes. Prices started at $50 and ranged to $450, a massive discount considering Jimmy Choo pieces often retail for upwards of $1,000.
Most accessories were one size, but the shoes had a massive range of sizing. There was also a variety in purse sizing as well, so smaller evening purses were much cheaper. Check out the photos to see a small range of all the products!
The sale was exclusive and required a pass to enter, and the line to get in went around the block– even for press. That said, the wait was definitely worth it; the sale was extraordinarily busy, but the products were all amazing and worth browsing through.
The event only lasted for two days– three, if you include VIP early access– so if you’re interested in attending private sales like this one, be sure to RSVP and follow the instructions on the app! They come and go very quickly, and invitations can be hard to come by if you wait too long. Well, it happened. As I sit here writing this, I am still in disbelief that not one, but two pairs of Jimmy Choos are in my closet; not the banged up stuff thats unfortunately a risk for high end brand sales, either, but shoes that are practically in mint condition.
I was fortunate enough to score a VIP press pass (I love my job!), so on a cold Wednesday morning, I was huddled in line outside of the sale, with the other “VIPs”, ready to score some sweet kicks.
To be honest, its a mixed bag when it comes to name brand sample sales; they tend to be too crowded, its only basic pieces, or the prices are still astronomically high. Yet, the Jimmy Choo sale was well stocked, the prices are amazing, and the space is huge.
There was also a great selection of purses clutches. It seemed like that had enough boots for an army as well, but the table was too cluttered to get a good enough look.
All in all, its a sale that’s definitely worth checking out, especially if you love labels. The shoes are gorgeous, and the prices are low enough for a few good splurges; everything at this sale is worth the splurge. Check it out- todays the last day!

I must mention SCHUTZ (average retail at $170 per pump) leading the sale and bringing the real heat to a summers end! As soon as I walked in, I routinely snap pictures of any shoe that catches my eye, and after I make another round looking for all my favorite designers. FYI, SCHUTZ had the largest selection available and shined in all the spotlight:

Musings about Miista from Lexi
Last week I boarded the downtown A train feeling comfy and confident in a soft blue shift dress I purchased from Old Navy for the ridiculous price of $8. I always receive compliments on the dress due to its functional combo of both comfort and class. Whenever people ask where I purchased I, they’re usually pretty surprised with the answer.
When I stepped out off of the subway, the bounce in my step imitated that of a deflated beach ball, as I acknowledged my dress, on another girl, walking into the same building that I was. Well, so much for that…
At that moment I realized that if I wanted to stop looking like everyone else, I had to stop shopping at main stream retailers. Just in time for my fashion crisis, cue the Miista sample sale.

I may have been too young to even watch- shhh don’t tell my mother, but growing up all I ever wanted to be was Carrie Bradshaw. And who didn’t? Her effortlessly chic, girly, elegant but eccentric style completely changed the game of fashion. From her famous tutu to her newsworthy Dior Newsprint dress, through her role as Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah Jessica Parker defined the true meaning of fashion- originality!
As a fashion icon, Sarah Jessica Parker is full of endless surprises. The latest: a shoe line. But not just any shoe line. Launched in February of 2014, by Sarah Jessica Parker and George Malkemus III, these new kicks were designed to redefine color as neutrals, inspiring women all over to add a little color, spark and skip to their steps.
Every shoe in SJP’s collection is handcrafted in Italy by the genius hands of a third generation Tuscan shoemaker for maximum luxury and quality.
Reimagined after some of the most classic Christian Louboutin silhouettes, SJP exemplifies the beloved style with an exciting burst of color and unexpected adornments. As another source of inspiration, Sarah Jessica Parker looks to the late seventies for it “was a great time for women’s shoes.”
Sarah Jessica Parker manages to pull inspiration from the finest sources while still staying true to herself and her style. To make these shoes truly her own each shoe features a strip of grosgrain, a type of fabric that is characterized by its ribbed appearance. In some shoes, it is used in hiding a seam up the back and in others, placed in an unexpected spot. Originally used in one color only- the palest and prettiest shade of salmon pink, and now in a few other shades, this really sets the SJP collection apart from the rest.
In Sarah Jessica Parkers own words this “collection is comprised of classic, timeless silhouettes meant to fit into a woman’s life for many years to come”.
Can’t wait to see what SJP has come up with this time! See you all there!
