By: Cristina Matin

The days are getting shorter, colder, and right before you know it, there will be snow on the ground. Visit the Sferra sample sale to get your bedroom set up for all those chilly days in bed watching Netflix. Sferra has high-quality, Italian linen that’ll make any bed cozy. Their style is more classic and simple. This will match perfectly in any minimalist’s home.

Prices were a bit high at the Sferra sample sale but fair for luxury linen. To add a nice touch, there was a representative from Sferra present at the sale to answer any questions shoppers may have. Chelsea Market really knows how to put on a sale! Feedback from the Rodarte Sample Sale

Rodarte Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

Again, we thank our wonderful users for the feedback.

The Rodarte sample sale surprisingly had no line to get inside this time around. Runway styles were marked as priced from $500 – $3,000. Fur jackets and beaded pieces were $2,000 and up. There was a very limited selection for shoes. All shoes were $500, with the exception of one pair of size 8.5 w Superga x Rodarte sneakers for only $75.

One bargain bin was filled with $20 bright-colored tees, while standard colored tees (white, black, navy, grey, pink) were $65. Fan favorite sweatshirts are $80. Sweatpants and hoodies are $90. Tank tops are $45. There was separate tables for pants, knits and accessories, which were all price as marked. Studded belts in black or white were $375. Jeans are $50. We spotted one large gray Coach x Rodarte purse going for $500. Considering that this collaboration is over, this is a hard to find pieces like these. You can also choose from an array of earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and brooches. All were marked with a red sticker at $50. There was one pair of teal Oliver peoples x Rodarte for $100. In all, you can find some great deals if you take the time to look through each piece. One lucky shopper snagged the only $7 lingerie top from the ready to wear rack!

Special thank you to Nykeiko for the detailed feedback.

The Aysha Sample Sale: Maybe for Your Grandmother

By: Cristina Martin

There isn’t much to say about the Aysha sample sale, considering only TWO racks were on sale in the entire store! The selection from those two racks was horrendous. The dresses were very matronly, or reminded you of something the mother of the bride would wear. Dressed were priced at $50 and the jewelry was over $100. That is fair pricing for that brand. On the positive side, there was no line. That should make up for the fact that the elevator took a lifetime to get you to the sale. Word of advice, skip the Aysha sale. Happy shopping!

Channel You’re Inner Olsen Twin at the Elizabeth and James Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

As always, Chelsea Market never disappoints. The Elizabeth and James sample sale is back once more this year. They first came to us not too long ago, in May. Perhaps, September is too early to have another sale. Don’t get us wrong, the sale wasn’t terrible, but the previous was better. The Elizabeth and James sample sale was definitely well-rounded. You can shop tops, bottoms, denim, jackets, and dresses. The sale lacked in breadth. There wasn’t a giant selection for each category. The brand clearly didn’t have enough merchandise to fill the large Chelsea Market space, because half the store was filled with various men’s wear.

We gave the Elizabeth and James sample sale a 7 out of 10. What they had was great, but they could of had more to choose from. Prices were slightly high on the men’s and Elizabeth James items. When attending a Chelsea Market Sale, you have to brave the Chelsea Market crowds. But, they were doing a great job on crowd control. The room was filled, but you didn’t feel overwhelmed. We definitely recommend you stop by and take a look at the Elizabeth and James sample sale. And some advice to the brand: wait just a little longer in between sales. Happy shopping!

Improvements Have Been Made at the Rent the Runway Sample Sale

Rent the Runway Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

We gave the last Rent the Runway sample sale a pretty dismal review. We think enough people complained (including us) to 260 about the quality of the merchandise. For the record, we still found damaged items, but not nearly as many as the last sale. Additionally, we didn’t spot any dirty clothing. Now, maybe they will listen to us about pricing. This is obviously used clothing. Prices NEED to be lowered more. Also, stop pricing things $49.98. It’s tacky. Make it either $49 or $50.

We rated the Rent the Runway sample sale a 5 out of 10. Where they improved in quality and there was no line out the door, they need to improve in price and use of space. This is one of the few sales that offers almost every size. 260 should run this sale out of their Wooster St. location, because it has a downstairs. Breaking up the sizes on two different floors will help east the chaos in store. Again, we found ourselves climbing over people to look through the racks. The other shoppers were vicious too! We were trying to shop and got so much attitude from the other shoppers. It was helpful to have the sale organized by size. It made our search a little easier. We also like that they have have a wide rage of sizes and styles. So you can really find something for anyone and any occasion. Don’t go out of your way for this. Wait for price reductions, or stop in if you have time or are in the area.  Happy shopping!

Shop from the Inside-Out at the Cosabella Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

You spend your life shopping for clothes, shoes, and accessories, but you have to think about getting something to go under all that. Think no further than the Cosabella sample sale, where you can find all your casual undergarment needs. You can shop for bras, underwear, and camisoles. But of course, what’s a sample sale with out shopping for things that everyone can see. At the Cosabell sample sale, you can also find bathing suit, PJ’s, robes, and more.

We rated the Cosabella sample sale an 8 out of 10. Everything was between $5 and $35. There were 7 racks full of clothing and numerous bins. They could have had more variety in sizing, with most items being a medium. On our way out, they gave us a water bottle. How cute is that?! Happy shopping!

To Wear White or To Not Wear White, That’s the Question

By: Cristina Martin

Your entire life you hear you mom say either, “It’s Memorial Day. We can now wear white pants,” or “It’s Labor Day. Gotta put the white pants away.” Well this weekend we face the latter. Many blogs and magazines promote white pants or boots as a favorite during the winter months. So who do we listen to? Mom or the fashion gurus? Let’s investigate a bit further.

After the Civil War there was a rise in nouveau riche. Those who belonged to old money wanted to be differentiated from the nouveau riche since they were considered low class. Old money women set fashion rules within their circle. This way those who didn’t follow were easily identifiable as nouveau riche. Wearing white only during summer months was one of the many rules put in place. In 1894, Labor Day was officially incorporated as a holiday, and society adopted it as the unofficial end of summer.

Naturally, there were society women who told the rule-making society women where they can put their rules. Surprisingly, Coco Chanel was a fashion rebel and wore white all year around. However, by the 1950’s every women’s magazine that mattered scholded women on the fact that white was worn between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Period.

So it’s 2018, what do we do now? Well, if ask my mother, the answer is a very strict ‘no.’ And how dare you for asking. On the other hand, many women’s (and men’s) publications are telling us to break free from those musty, old rules, and embrace white 365 days a year. I guess you need to decide how traditional you are. If you embrace tradition, then hang up the white pants after this weekend. If you are a fashion rebel, we’ll be eying your Instagram to see just how you pull it off. Hey, if Coco Chanel wore white all year around. That’s all I’m saying.

Happy Labor Day weekend!

Wanna Know a Secrete about the Boll and Branch Sample Sale?

Boll and Branch Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

Who knew a linen company can be so interesting? Well before you head out to the Boll and Branch sample sale, let us tell you a thing or two.

Boll and Branch is a luxury linen company founded by a couple in New Jersey. (Yes, cool things can happen in New Jersey too.) They pride themselves in using sustainable materials, and were the first in the industry to be certified by the Fair Trade Organization. This husband and wife then opened their first and only brick and mortar location in Short Hills, NJ. This isn’t the highlight of their careers. It has been reported that three U.S. presidents, both Bushes and Clinton, have slept on Boll and Brand sheets! Are you ready for the secret? Rumor has it that two former presidents slept on these sheets with their mistresses. Well, I think we can almost positively ID one. *cough* Clinton *cough*

That’s enough story time for now. Let’s chat about the Boll and Branch sample sale. The sale featured a bunch of their bedding, bath towels, robes, and even pj’s. The brand retails between $200 – $500, so markdowns were pretty good. However, we do recommend you wait for further markdowns to try to score the best deal. Boll and Branch offer super plush and comfy sheets. If you’re looking to decorate you bed for your next Netflix binge (or next affair, hey we don’t judge) we’ll see you there. Happy shopping!

Squeezing Out Every Bit of Summer at the Prive Sample Sale

Prive Sample Sale

Photo Via Diva’s World

By: Cristina Martin

Chelsea Market sample sales never disappoint! The Prive sample sale featured summer clothing and swim for both men and women. Chelsea Market has a huge space, so there was plenty of merchandise form a variety of brands to choose from. There are racks of swim for both men and women in so many colors. This is the perfect opportunity to stock up for next year, or that tropical getaway in January. The Prive sample sale also had a dresses, tops, cute pants, and skirts. For the gentlemen, you can choose from tops, trousers, denim and accessories. Prices were also very reasonable!

We rated the Prive sample sale a 8 out of 10. Pros were of course the fabulous clothing, huge selection, and affordable prices. The only con was the fact that it is mostly summer, you only have a few weeks at best to use them before the items go in storage. Don’t loose all hope, some items can definitely be used for fall/early winter. Happy shopping!
