Minimalist Summer Chic – Eileen Fisher Sample Sale

By: Ashley Randall

Today we had the chance to checkout the Eileen Fisher Sample Sale in the East Village. There were two separate sections, one having regular merchandise offered at a sale price and the other was all sample clothing and accessories.

The Eileen Fisher sample sale offered a minimalistic assortment of merchandise. The racks were lined with limited color such as taupe, military green, and auburn as well as scales of black and white. The Eileen Fisher Sample Sale offered extremely chic and simplistic clothing but had limited quantity.

We rated the Eileen Fisher Sample Sale a 6 out of 10. The clothing was minimalistic and chic but there was limited availability in all the samples, but they did have a separate rack of discounted item from their regular line. The staff was extremely nice and attentive to the customers. The merchandise was priced generally high for samples. The Eileen Fisher Sample Sale embodied minimalistic chic work clothing. If you are looking for a minimalistic base piece and have a larger budget, we recommend you take a look!

A Sneak Peak of the Cushnie et Ochs Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

We stopped by the CeO midtown showroom to get a preview of the Cushnie et Ochs sample sale. The showroom was filled with elegant pieces including gowns, cocktail dresses and casual wear.

You can shop regular stock for 80% off retail. There were also two racks with samples for pre-set prices. What Cushnie did that was really unique was adding a “damaged” rack, where every item sold for $50. If you don’t mind a little alteration or sending a piece to the dry cleaners, you can score some really nice clothes. I also really appreciate that they were honest and separated the damaged clothing from the rest.

We rated the the Cushnie et Ochs sample sale a 8 out of 10. Although it was still a bit pricey, the discount was still significant. They had really beautiful samples and regular stock items. We recommend you check it out!

Posh Furniture at the ABC Home and Carpet Sample Sale

abc home sample sale

By: Cristina Martin

I’m not exactly sure if the people at ABC Home and Carpet understand the definition of a sample sale, because the prices were still astronomical. However, there is a silver lining. The pieces at the ABC Home and Carpet sample sale were beautiful! Discounts ranged from 30 – 70% off. The sale took place on the 4th floor. Everything was on sale, from lighting to bedding.

We gave the ABC Home and Carpet sample sale a 5 out of 10. Yes there was a lot beautiful things for sale, but let’s be honest, who can really afford it?! Okay, let’s say you had some money under your mattress to treat yourself, can you really cram anything else into your apartment? Honestly, the high prices are such a shame, because there were some really cool pieces there. My favorites had to be the little wall desk and the antique cash register. (Shown in the pictures below.)

If you’re in the area, check it out. If anything you can grab a bite at their restaurant, the delicious ABC Kitchen.

The Vintage Chanel and Hermes Sample Sale was Just a Dream

vintage chanel and hermes

By: Cristina Martin

Every girl dreams of owning a classic Chanel suit. With the right heels and accessories, you can take yourself back to an age of glamour and sophistication. Perhaps, add an Hermes scarf to complete the look. Well, you can  turn your dreams into a reality at the Vintage Chanel and Hermes sample sale. At the sale you can find those classic Chanel and Hermes pieces, in addition to dresses and gowns from other notable designers like Zac Posen and Marchesa. Naturally, you can do all this for the right price. Even though this is technically a sample sale, and  they offered items at a major discount, the prices were still high.

As they say… following your dream can come with a hefty price tag. Ha!

We gave the Vintage Chanel and Hermes sample sale a ShopDrop rating of 7 out of 10. Although prices were still high, the merchandise was excellent. They had so many beautiful pieces in excellent condition. In addition to the classic pieces the gowns were to die for, you can get a simple, elegant gown, or an extravagant one. No lines, no bag check! (Hey, that can also be a dream. At least it’s mine!) The staff was tremendous! They were very friendly and helpful with out being overbearing. By the time I left we were all talking fashion, our lives, the weather, you name it! Even other shoppers were very friendly. One of the best sample sale shopping experiences hands down.

If you have the cash the splurge, it’s a great investment!

The Most Coveted Sale of the Year: Jimmy Choo Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

People began to line up early for the Jimmy Choo sample sale. Luckily, we were able to get inside an hour early with a press pass to bring you the scoop. This sample sale is one of the most coveted sales because of the excellent condition of their samples, large selection, and low prices. The Jimmy Choo sample sale also not only restocks, but prices are slashed in half on the last day.

We gave the Jimmy Choo sample sale a 6 out of 10 ShopDrop rating. They had an abundance of men shoes, women’s shoes, bags, and other accessories. I docked some points because although they had a large inventory, I wasn’t impressed with the styles of shoes. The styles were either super extra or basic. For $200 + a shoe, I need to love them. It’s also unfair that they price ALL their men’s shoes at $150 flat. Yet the women’s shoes, their core business, were priced between $200 – $375.

We will be keeping an eye on this sale throughout the week. Stay tuned for an update on the last day, Friday. For now, details and photos are below.

UPDATE: 5/11/18 – Prices went down at 1:30 p.m. The selection was so so, and it went quickly.  I guess the word about last day prices got out quickly.

Clothing for All Seasons at the Elizabeth and James Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

Today we had the chance to check out the Elizabeth and James sample sale before it opened to the public. Held in the bustling Chelsea Market, the Elizabeth and James sample sale had a large selection of both samples and regular stock items. Samples were priced as marked and regular stock started at $39. The most expensive items were the regular stock fur coats. However, if you don’t mind a sample piece, you can score a fur coat for $199.

We rated the Elizabeth and James a 8 out of 10. The prices were fair and the selection was good. The space was also brilliantly organized and the dressing rooms were huge! I had the pleasure of meeting some of the lovely Chelsea Market staff. It is a breath of fresh air to encounter such friendly staff at a sample sale.

Check out the Olsen twins’ line, Elizabeth and James, sample sale as you’re passing through Chelsea Market this week. Details and pictures? “You got it, Dude!”

The Cure to Met Gala FOMO: Rating The Night’s Looks, and How to Shop Them

By: Cristina Martin

Versace stole the show at this year’s Met Gala. The brand dressed numerous celebrities in Versace’s chicest Sunday School evening wear, fitting the theme, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” The Met Gala, dubbed the “Super Bowl of Fashion,” is the perfect (and usually the only) excuse to go completely extra with your outfit. I always praise those who commit to the theme and give it 110%.

Below are the best and not so best looks from fashion’s most famous evening. If you were sitting on your sofa last night wishing you were there, or lusting to own a fabulous piece from one of these designers, I’ll let you know which Met Gala designer runs sample sales. You’re welcome.

The Kings and Queens of Met Gala 2018:
Met Gala Royalty that committed to the Catholic theme.

Best Dressed Queen: Blake Lively in Versace and Christian Louboutin.
There was a huge Versace sale this year, and we are keeping our fingers crossed for another one next year. Christian Louboutin has sample sales, but they are almost impossible to get in to unless you work for the company or know someone who does.

Best Couple: Jeremy Scott and Cardi B wearing Moschino
Global Fashions hosted a Moschino sample sale recently, with mixed reviews.

Best Dressed King: Chadwick Boseman wearing Versace

Honorable Mentions:

Sarah Jessica Parker: This Met Gala Queen NEVER disappoints. Dolce & Gabbana and Jennifer Fisher dressed her this year. We are still praying for a D&G sale… Hopefully our prayers will be answered soon.

Nicki Minaj dressed as the devil by Oscar de la Renta and Tiffany & Co. The Oscar de la Renta sample sale just passed, and happens every year.

Jennifer Lopez: New York’s “Jenny from the Block,” is strutting down the red carpet with a Balmain dress and Jimmy Choo accessories. The cross on Jlo’s dress can be found on Anna Wintour’s first Vogue cover. Nice touch!  A Balmain sample sale is also in our prayers, but you can shop the divine Jimmy Choo sample sale every spring.

Sinful Looks That Had Me Asleep at the Altar:
These celebs did not follow the theme and were just plain BORING!

Worst Dressed: Jaden Smith in Louis Vuitton
Jaden, I guess thinks he’s too cool to to wear something crazy. Not only did he not follow the theme, he looks like he’s going to grab some lunch on his way to  his next meeting. You’re also that self-absorbed that you have to carry around your gold record? This is the ultimate Met Gala sin.

Worst Couple: The Olsen twins. These two are always a packaged deal. They have the same over-sized look every… singe… year… I think I would die and resurrect if they wore something different. The Elizabeth & James sample sale is their brand, and it’s is opening tomorrow.

Honorable Mentions:

Cara Delevingne: Wearing Dior and looking more like a dominatrix rather than a Catholic school girl.

Claire Danes: Her dress contributed absolutely nothing to the theme. She added three colors together and added a feather. I’m hitting snooze button on this one.

The Jenner Clan: Kris (in Tommy Hilfiger), Kendall (in Off-White), and Kylie (in Alexander Wang) were all SO boring! Not to mention that Travis Scott looks like a World War II German soldier. I guess Kim K. was the only one allowed to slay the red carpet that night. (P.S. Alexander Wang has sample sales.)

A Sample Sale Melting Pot: Swell, Nest, and Moleskine

By: Cristina Martin

You wouldn’t think those three brands would be under one roof, but leave it to 260 Sample Sale to have a Swell, Nest, and Moleskine sample sale. I have to say, it was strange grabbing a water bottle for my mom, a notebook for work, and then randomly picking up a candle all in one place.

The Swell, Nest, and Moleskine sample sale got a 5 out of 10 ShopDrop Rating. The best thing about this sale was the price range. This is my first time leaving a sample sale with 3 items for under $25. Notebooks and Swell bottles started at $10. The Moleskine bags and most Nest products were still pretty expensive. You can get a Wood Wick candle at Bed Bath and Beyond for $25 and it will smell nice and burn evenly. The store layout was very strange as well, which made it a mad house. People were pushing, shoving, and getting annoyed if you stood somewhere too long. Even the 260 staff was was noticeably getting frustrated with the crowd. They would say “excuse me” really loud with an attitude as they made their way across the store. The shopping experience was really awful. I could’t wait to get out of there.

If you’re looking for any of these brands for really cheap and don’t mind the madness, then check our the Swell, Nest, and Moleskine sample sale. You can grab a lot at these low prices. I had to wait about 20 minutes to get it. In my opinion, it wasn’t worth the wait. Try to go when there is no line, less craziness, and you will be able to get away with some good stuff!

Channeling Our Inner Carrie Bradshaw at the Manolo Blahnik Sample Sale

By: Cristina Martin

“You can count on one hand the things a New Yorker will wait for. My list includes: the perfect rent control apartment, the chocolate souffle at Le Bernardin, and the annual Manolo Blahnik sale.” – Carrie Bradshaw

You may or may not have the perfect rent control apartment just yet, but you may have been one of the lucky people to get into the Manolo Blahnik sample sale. If you did, boy did you wait! Lines began forming during the early morning hours. Everyone was given a ticket with a number upon arrival. The number represented what group you were in, and when the Manolo Blahnik sample sale officially opened at 11:00 a.m., they let in group 1 and so forth.

I was lucky enough to be in group 9 going inside at around 11:30 a.m. All the shoes were on tables separated by size. When I got in they had a pretty good selection in size and style. The popular sizes were starting to diminish as time went by. Shoes started at $125 and increased in price depending on embellishments. On the other hand, boots started at $300. Cheap for Manolo, but still pricey for sample sale standards.

I gave the sale a ShopDrop rating of 6.5 out of 10. Like I said the selection was good and prices were decent, but it lost a lot of points for being cash only. Who really carries cash nowadays?! More importantly, who’s carrying around hundreds of dollars?! I really liked this ticket system. There is no dreadful line waiting on your feet for hours. You can even leave the hotel an come back with your ticket. Once you get your ticket you wait in a comfortable, temperature controlled room, with outlets. The only thing missing was WiFi. Even though the Manolo Blahnik team tried to make the sample sale experience more enjoyable, it’s still a Manolo Blahnik sample sale, so it was really hectic inside!

Perhaps I’m being too harsh with a 6.5 rating, since the prices and the selection was good. I also really enjoyed the ticket system. But hey, cash only and the fact that it was so hectic inside… It had me frazzled enough to take off a considerable amount of points.

Looking forward to next year!
