Frances Valentine sample sale opened its doors today. We got a good peak at what’s available and gave it a solid 7 out of 10. For those who aren’t familiar with FV, it’s the Kate Spade brand for funky shoes. What’s funky? You ask. Shaped heels, poofs on toes. The shoes retail for $450-$550. At the sample sale, sample shoes are $50 (only sizes 7 & 9), stock shoes are $150 and range from size 5 to size 12.
The building with the Frances Valentine sale has another 3 sales going on this week: David Lerner, Rebecca Taylor, White & Warren. So you can kill 4 sales with one trip! Photos & prices & details below. Enjoy!

The Marc Jacobs sale is by far one of our favorites – because the items are simply so beautiful, and the prices drop from being in the sky to being totally attainable. The room was filled with every kind of RTW: clothing, bags, shoes, Ts – stuff for men and women and children in many sizes. Everything was either 80% or 85% off retail, which made the prices amazing!
I bought 4 pairs of socks for my husband for a total of $13.95! That’s a better deal than I would get for horrible product at some random mass retailer. If you have the patience to wait in line, we highly encourage you go to this one.

Oday Shakar is a NY-based designer who probably won the most acclaim through his participation on America’s Next Top Model. He hosted the first Oday Shakar sample sale this week. There were six racks of exquisite gowns (overstock and sample), and while the price range was higher than the ones we are used to, the designs definitely caught our attention.
Most items were in the $1,200-$1,500 range with two racks of short dresses selling for $200 and $350. The coolest part of the sale was that the designer was present for most of the event, so you had the opportunity to actually talk with the mind behind the masterpiece. Call me nostalgic, but there is something special about interacting with the creator of your clothes.
Anyhow, if you have a wedding or evening party coming up on the horizon, this sale is highly recommended. As always, details, photos and prices below. Enjoy!

The Kenneth Cole sample sale is taking place in a garage West of 11th Ave on 50th Street. That means a lot of trekking to the edge of Manhattan from any major subway line. The plus side though is that the sale is in a spacious location (which doesn’t really happen in NYC) with plenty of merchandise and great music. Unlike most sales, I actually enjoyed spending time at the sale and browsing through the merchandise. The room is split into half between merchandise for men and women. Solid sizing selection as well both for clothes and shoes.

We went to meet with the people running the C&C showroom for kids. After explaining about ShopDrop and our users, the owners offered our users early access ahead of the sale start date to anyone with the shopdrop app. The ADD DOWN goose feather coats were selling for $100-$180 depending on size and style. Given the $400-$600 retail tag – the price is truly wholesale. Other brands included AI riders on a storm, Babe & Tess. Check it out now or next week & enjoy!

The Rent the Runway sample sale was unpleasant from start to finish. When I got there, I was greeted by a line that wrapped around the corner! After waiting 30 minutes, I finally got past the doors ready to shop. Unfortunately, the space was way too crowded! On top of having to practically climb over people to just look at the clothing, most of the merchandise was dirty or damaged. Some of it was downright disgusting!
The only positives of the Rent the Runway sample sale were: 1. Everything is organized by size, which makes it easier to narrow your search . You don’t have to scour the store to find your size. Also, sizes ranged from 0 – 22, so there really was something for everyone here. 2. The prices were pretty decent. Non-big-name gowns and dresses were below $100, and big name gowns and dresses were below $200.
We are giving the Rent the Runway sample sale a 3 out of 10. It is NOT worth the wait nor the crowds to go on an endless hunt to find something that is not so obviously worn.
My personal advice: I went to this sale last year, but on one of the last days. I didn’t have to wait in a huge line for damaged clothing, and they had price reductions. I left with 2 really great dresses. If it’s worth anything… save your time and go at the end if you are really in need for some dresses.
Hope we could help! Details and photos below.

Head over to the Scotch and Soda sample sale, if not for the great deals, but for the eye candy! Since this sale had mostly men’s clothing, there were a quite a few cuties shopping. Anyway… back to the sale. I was very impressed with the Scotch and Soda sample sale. There were a ton of great pieces for both men and women, and for both Summer and Winter. The Scotch and Soda sample sale is being held in their showroom, so the place is rather small and can get kinda hot (no pun intended). There are no formal dressing rooms. You kinda just try stuff on whereever. That’s not so bad when you’re standing around a bunch of shirtless men, but if you are the shy type, wear a bodysuit under your clothing.
The Scotch and Soda sample sale got a 7 out of 10 on the ShopDrop scale. The prices were good (most stuff under $40!) and the selection was great! I docked some points for a disappointing accessories section. They had two plastic bins with a few belts and super random items. Their showroom is also fairly large, but they only sectioned off a small area for the sale. They had the space and could have put more items on sale. That being said, the Scotch and Soda Sample sale is totally worth checking out. Head over to Union Square tomorrow, and maybe you will catch the farmer’s market too! Deets below!

Spring and Summer are right around the corner, even though it may not feel like it in New York. We can’t wait to shed off all our layers and show off what we are actually wearing under all these coats. Although the spring season allows for the streets to be our runway, we are not so excited to see some of these current trends. They are here to stay, but hopefully not for long.
Dad sneakers, who came up with this?! We personally just don’t understand this trend. There are so many cute sneakers out there. Even Balenciaga can’t tempt us to surrender to this trend. Why are people giving into this trend? Who really wants to dress like their Dad?
This is another trend we really don’t understand. Plastic was once seen as a “cheap” alternative, but somehow it has evolved from or Diet Coke bottles to designer fashion. We understood the plastic handbag trend. (Guilty of owning the Ted Baker plastic toat.) Why incoporate plastic into your clothes? Doesn’t that make you hot?! (No punn intended)
Plastic? Maybe not so fantastic…
Okay, okay, we were guilty of following this trend as well when it was popular in the early 2000s. However, we don’t want to see it resurface. It is exhusting to have to find the perfect undergarment to make your sheer look “appropriate.” We don’t have time to find the perfect cardigan, or shop for camisoles in 100 colors. No thank you. We just want to wear one piece of clothing and go about our day.
The 3.1 Phillip Lim opened doors this morning. While I didn’t head down there myself, Sample Sale City stepped in and sent a detailed report of her findings. Overall, the sale was devastating, the prices were too high for sample sale shoppers regardless of retail prices. At off Saks, handbags sell for less. In terms of selection, SSC wasn’t too impressed either. Regardless, there was a line out the door.
For women, the cheapest items of clothing sold for $50, and the most expensive $500. For men same range: $50-$500.

Christian Siriano has come a long way from winning season four of Emmy winning reality show, Project Runway. Head over to the Christian Siriano sample sale where he has gowns, cocktail dresses, and accessories. Although the space is small, the selection is big. There’s quite a few extravagant evening gowns that would be perfect for any black tie occasion. The cocktail selection was even more extensive. If you look hard enough you can also find some tops, bottoms, and suits.
The Christian Siriano sample sale received a ShopDrop rating of 8 out of 10. Although the selection was good, the prices were still a bit high. Gowns started at $800 and went into the low thousands. Cocktail dresses started at $200. There were no clothing there below $100. Accessories were the most reasonably priced items. All shoes were $50 and handbags were 50% off. The sunglasses were the best deal at $10 each! The Christian Siriano sample sale is 100% worth checking out! Details are below, as always.
