The Bonpoint Sample Sale is NOT on Point

By: Jacqueline Munro

After attending the Bonpoint sample sale today I left feeling amazed… Amazed by the fact that people are actually willing to pay that much money for baby clothes that will fit for about a month during which they will be covered in poop, pee, and barf! But hey, who doesn’t want to dress their infant in a multi-hundred dollar onesie………..

For such expensive baby/children’s clothes, I would like so see discounts better than 60% off. With that said though, there was an insane amount of inventory including a lot of cute options for boys and girls ranging from one month to 10 years old! There were cashmere leggings with matching sweaters, adorable little collared shirts, lined winter onesies, shearling vests, winter coats, and plenty of other items. You’re going to have to do some work sorting through everything though because all of the clothes are just “folded” in piles on the tables. Pretty much nothing is hung up, which makes sense given that the clothes are so small, but unfortunately it creates a colossal mess. Oh and don’t go if you need to ask someone’s opinion before purchasing because if they see you making a facetime call or taking photos you will be asked to leave. Trust me, they’ll actually do it. I know from experience.

Overall I rated this sale a 5/10. Unless you’ve got a fat wallet and a lot of cash to drop on baby clothes, sit this one out.

I’m saying “Boooo” to the Jimmy Choo Sample Sale

By: Jacqueline Munro

Overall I was not impressed by the Jimmy Choo sample sale. The sale is taking place at 123 West 18th St. in the Metropolitan Pavilion. If you’re having trouble finding it, just look for the insanely long line of people standing on the sidewalk.

At this sale there were TONS of shoes; I was shocked by the amount of merchandise when I walked in. All of the shoes were organized by size. Each size ranging from 34.5-41 had its own section of racks/tables that were overflowing with shoes. The prices for women started at $200 and went up to $375 plus an additional $200 for any exotics. There were lots of pumps and wedges but sadly there were not as many boots/booties, sneakers, or flats. The sneaker selection that they did have was pretty underwhelming and the flats weren’t great either. There were a few hot pairs of booties, though! Additionally, there were lots of sandals, which is quite unfortunate given that were almost in the month of November. But for all of you snow birds out there, this sale is the perfect place to start prepping your s-winter shoe-drobe. In addition to all of the shoes, there was also a small selection of bags ranging from clutches to large totes, and they’re selling fast! The mens section was decent and all shoes were $150 which is great! How come women’s shoes couldn’t be priced like that!?

Overall I rated this sale a 6.5/10. Although there were approximately a gazillion pairs of shoes, a lot of them were outdated and just down-right ugly. The pricing was okay, but not amazing and the line was absurdly long. I’d say go if you’re a huge Jimmy Choo fan, but don’t expect to be wow-ed by anything.

You can Stop Holding your Breath, the Alexander Wang Sample Sale is Back!

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Alexander Wang sample sale is back and so far it has been *Drumroll Please* INSANE!!!! We were super excited to hear that this sale was open to the public after years of being invite-only, but now all we feel is anxiety!

If you ever make it into this sample sale (the line was 500 people deep at one point) the main issue you’ll come across is the resellers. 260, how on Earth could you let this happen!? We got pictures of hoarders with mile-high piles of bags, clothes, and shoeboxes, and they were grabbing things off the racks so quickly that not even the employees could keep up with them. So even though 260 started off with a ton of back stock, we’re not sure it’ll last until Sunday. Aside from the resellers, the place was a completely disorganized mess. Shoe boxes were everywhere and the staff could barely navigate their way through the clutter. The prices were decent and the merchandise seemed like it was good if you got there first thing this morning, but apparently, all of the bags are already gone, and they are out of lots of sizes in certain shoes.

Overall we rated this sale a 6/10. 260, you really need to get your sh*t together on this one, we had really high hopes. This sale is not for the faint of heart, so unless you’re ready to wait online for three hours, and throw some elbows once you get inside, avoid this sale at all costs.

The Heroine Sport Sample Sale is Definitely Addicting

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Heroine Sport Sample sale is taking place in a tiny showroom between 20th and 21st on Broadway. The selection is small but all of the stuff is really cute! There are about five racks of merchandise including bras, tops, shorts, leggings, sweatpants, sweatshirts, jackets, coats, leotards, jumpsuits, and biker shorts. Although most of the leggings are eccentric colors and/or patterns, there are a couple of nice, classic black pairs that I regret not buying. Prices range from $25-$75 which is good considering their retail prices.

My only problem with this sale is the organization. Although the racks are somewhat neatly organized, they are all tightly packed and the bins with the steeply discounted items are a wreck. I have a love-hate relationship with bins– I love the deals, but I absolutely hate the mess. I don’t understand why brands can’t just put the items on racks and make our lives easier. Overall I’m giving this sale a 7/10. The staff members are super sweet and the discounts are impressive, but as I said, they need to work on their organizational skills a little bit. If you aren’t a piece of s*** like me, and you actually work out, definitely go to this sale for some cute, reasonably priced workout clothes! Or in my case, athleisure.

The 260 Multi Brand Sale is a hit or miss

By: Jacqueline Munro

260 Sample Sale is currently hosting a multi-brand sale including Derek Lam, Cushnie, and Pierre Hardy at its 151 Wooster location. I love multi-brand sales because if you don’t luck out with one of the brands, there are always others that might offer something you like!

At this sample sale, the Derek Lam selection was by far the largest. The Derek Lam (collection and 10 Crosby) merchandise took up most of the first floor. The discounts were mediocre, to be honest, but the selection was fabulous. The pants ($95 for 10 Crosby and $225 for collection) section was superb and there were a bunch of amazing coats ($250 for 10 Crosby and $300-$400 for Collection) and blouses ($85) as well. Sweaters were $150 which seemed a bit outrageous to me, but there were a lot of cute ones. As for Cushnie, the selection was very small. There were almost no gowns and the activewear selection was more plentiful than the dress selection. The discounts for Cushnie ranged from 70%-80% off and the sample pieces were as marked. The Pierre Hardy selection was downstairs and it was pretty big– in addition to the women’s selection, there were a lot of options for men and a few for children too! There were tons of flats and heels but not as big of a sneaker or boot selection. And as if the small boot selection wasn’t sad enough, all of the sizes were on the larger end. So if you have small feet you’re out of luck. The boots were $250, “dress” shoes were $180, and sneakers were $150. These prices seemed a bit steep to me but at least they had good stuff.

Overall I rated this sale a 6/10. It was not very well organized and the prices were a bit steep, but if you’re willing to splurge on some cute pants for the fall, it might be worth checking out.

Coats Galore at the Gerard Darel Sample Sale

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Gerard Darel sample sale is being hosted by Eclipse NY in Chelsea. When I heard about the sale, I had never heard of the brand, so I didn’t know what to expect going into it. But I was very pleasantly surprised!

There is a ton of merchandise at this sale and sizes range from XS to XXL. Out of everything that they had in the showroom, the coats were my favorite. There were tons of gorgeous styles in various sizes for just $250! Now that might sound like a lot, but there were high-quality parkas with mink fur hoods and shearling collars, cashmere coats with fur hoods, and other fancy peacoats. There were tons of cool sweaters and super chic blouses priced at $85. Oh and if you’re in the market for some new pants, you’ll definitely find some at this sale. There were about 10 huge racks filled with different kinds of pants ranging from black leopard jeans to plaid slacks. On average the discounts ranged from about 75%-85% off.

Overall I gave this sale a 9/10. Aside from the great pricing, beautiful organization, and awesome selection, the staff members were beyond kind as always. Eclipse, you’ve done it again! Bravo!!!

A+ for the A.P.C. Sample Sale

By: Jacqueline Munro

The A.P.C. sample sale is being hosted by Eclipse NY down in Chelsea. I love Eclipse because every time I go there the staff members are SO kind and the showroom is beautifully organized. AND, it’s right near the Standard Biergarten so I can go drink my self pity away after I spend a gajillion dollars at their sales.

At this sample sale prices range from about 70%-85% off. T-shirts are $30, shirts are $60, jeans are $60, sweaters are $75, jackets are $100, coats are $175, and shoes range from $80-$130. Overall I am really pleased with these prices. The merchandise includes gorgeous jackets and coats, awesome sweaters, classic APC t-shirts, a s*** ton of jeans, fun skirts and dresses, stylish accessories, and more eccentric pieces like corduroy rompers! For men there are lots of options too — lots of shirts and jackets as well as some cool sweatpants and accessories. I got my boyfriend a stunning wool jacket with a faux shearling collar for $100 down from $690! He told me not to because he has something similar, but I literally couldn’t leave it.

Overall I’m giving this sale a 9/10. Eclipse has been killing the sample sale game lately and I could not be happier about it. Their pricing is spot on, their showroom is neat, their inventory is stocked up, and their employees are a delight. Definitely head over to the A.P.C. sample sale, you won’t regret it.

The Ba&sh Sample Sale Left me with Mixed Emotions

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Ba&sh sample sale was unbelievably hectic, which is no surprise given that it is taking place at 260 sample sale. I’m honestly having a hard time deciding whether or not I loved this sale, here’s why:

For starters, did I mention that I hate 260? For one of their first sample sales I was hoping that  Ba&sh would choose a KILLER host like, I don’t know, us maybe?  But seriously, we all know that 260 prices suck which is such a drag because they had amazing merchandise at this sale. There were so many cute dresses, sweaters, coats, and skirts. The skirts and dresses varied in length and style, and the outerwear ranged from shearling to denim. There were also some super stylish wide leg corduroys, but they were literally designed for women with legs like flag poles. Aside from the clothing there was a small selection of shoes and an even smaller selection of accessories.

So how am I supposed to determine whether or not I loved this sale? I shouldn’t be okay with settling for mediocre prices just because the merchandise rocks. But hey, I guess that’s the name of the 260 game. I decided to give this sale a 7/10 because I did walk away with some great (pricey) finds. But if you’re hoping to walk away feeling victorious I’d get over there quickly because the first day was PACKED! Good luck shoppers. Stay safe out there it’s a vicious crowd.

Alexandre Birman Sample Sale has Gorgeous Options for Everyone

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Alexandre Birman sample sale is simply amazing, I’ve never seen such a heavenly sight. There are a ton of stunning shoes ranging from size 5 to size 12.5 — I didn’t even know brands made shoes in women’s size 12.5! If you missed out on our VIP access to this sale, make sure you purchase the monthly package so that you don’t keep passing up opportunities for early entry to great sales like this one!

This sample sale is taking place in a huge showroom in Chelsea. There is a seemingly endless amount of tables filled with shoes lining each wall, and they are all organized by size. Staff members are stationed at each table and they are more than willing to help you find the right pair of shoes. My favorite pieces at the sale are all booties, but there are also amazing pumps, sandals, and espadrilles. There are lots of classic styles as well as some more eccentric ones. From colorful snakeskin wedges to black suede boots you’re sure to find something you’ll love.

Overall I’m giving this sale an 8/10. The pricing is good, and the selection is unreal. Furthermore, not having to deal with nasty employees or a terrible ambiance like at 260 made everything 100x more enjoyable. Definitely check out this sale ASAP; I have a feeling it is going to be popular and you DON’T want to miss out.

Today we had a preview of the Cosabella Sample Sale which opens tomorrow and early for our VIP customers. The sale features a huge selection of lingerie and sleepwear (you still want to look chic in your sleep).

The sale is organized by different item types, there is everything from wired bras to rompers and in between. Also you can literally “taste the rainbow” since most of the merchandise comes in all the colors of the rainbow. Now let’s talk about the pricing because it is totally amazing. Even better if you find an item with a red tag, it is an additional 50% off the sample sale price (yes – you read that right, an additional 50% off). There is also a decent size range available!

Overall we rated the sale a 9 out of 10. These prices are just too good and everybody is always in need of some new undergarments. If you are a VIP, you are in luck because you can shop the sale early tomorrow AM!
