Vince Camuto – a mad house with no fitting rooms

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: This sample sale was very crowded and everything was everywhere. None of the racks were organized based on the item- this is the kind of the sale that you just have to look at every single rack. There were tons of customers all over the room, and since there were no fitting rooms, people were just trying on their clothing in public. I would suggest going to this sale- there were tons of gorgeous pieces for low prices.

Merchandise/pricing: Customers were walking out with huge bags filled with clothing because the prices were THAT low. Tops and bottoms were $15, and everything else was $25. There were tons of clothing, but mostly one of each item. I saw that this sale was a majority dresses and blouses. There were only 1-2 racks of pants. There were a lot of cozy and pretty sweaters, some had cool prints on it as well. This sale is worthwhile to go to- you will most likely walk out with tons bought.

Rate: 6/10 Great prices, tons of items- no mirrors or fitting rooms

All things random at the MoMa Design Sale

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: The Moma sample sale had tables in the middle of the room, filled with tons of items. While the room was spacious and organized, this sale was slightly wack. All of the merchandise was so random: from pads of paper to dishes to watches, this sale was very interesting. There were staff members behind each of the tables, and they explained what everything was. All of the items were neatly laid out and displayed, and it was quite easy to find what you are looking for.

Merchandise/ pricing: Most of the merchandise was 60% off, besides for jewelry and watches; Jewelry and watches were 50% off. There were tons in stock of everything, from plates to casual bags. The prices in this sale were great, but retail prices were also not so high. This sale is not worth the trip, unless you need a new clock or notebook. Most of the items were not considered “cute-” the plates were bright red with weird apples on them.

Rate: 4.5/10 Eh merchandise, low prices (but retail prices are not too high either), sweet staff, not worthwhile to attend.

Great finds at the Canali sale

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: The Canali sale was quite overwhelming, but possible to find a lot! The sale’s racks were organized by clothing type; there were racks of suits, sport coats, pants, shorts, coats, etc. On the side of the room, were the accessories: ties, swim, and SHOES. In the middle of the room, there were bins and bins of collard shirts and other shirts. Everything was folded very nicely and was quite easy to find the size you wanted. All of the shirts came in multiple colors as well. I noticed lots of blues, pinks, blacks, and grays.

Merchandise/ pricing: The prices were great at this sale. Sport coats were 70% off, suits 60% off, dress shirts 60% off, sweaters 70% off, and ties $65 if original price was $180, and if over $180- take 60% off. As far as quantity goes, there were TONS of shoes. There were both fancy and casual options, each 60% off. There were many light and dark brown colored shoes, but also funky colors- such as green. There were also tons of suits, ranging from tons of sizes. There were tons of ties as well, in a lot of different colors. The prices and deals were great at this sale, defiantly worthwhile to come if you are due for a new suit!

Rate: 7/10 Great deals, nice space, unlimited options.

The space was very organized and it was easy to find exactly what you wish to purchase. The righthand side of the room was filled with endless accessories. From belts to scarves, the sale truly had it all. All of the clothing was also hung nicely and the staff was also very sweet.

Going (sun)ham for the Sunham Sale

By: Eve Orbach

Home goods brand Sunham’s sale is definitely worth checking out if you’re in the market for items to add extra sparkle to your home✨ Brands such as Vera Bradley, Ted Baker, Lacoste, and more are being featured. Prices range from $4–$40, so you are definitely bound to find some great deals. Most of the items fall under $20! Pillowcases, comforters, shams, blankets, pillows, robes, towels and more are featured.

The best deals of the sale include throw blankets for $15, bath robes for $18, and large decorative throw pillows for $6.

The one downside to the sale was that it is pretty disorganized and honestly kind of overwhelming to navigate. The sale kind of resembles a (slightly) less extreme version of what people’s homes in “Hoarders” look like.

There’s a sweet staff, tons of merchandise, and killer deals (seriously, you might get killed by the mess). I give this sale a 7/10

What: Sunham sale.                                                                                                                                                               Where: 308 Fifth Avenue, 3rd Floor, Manhattan.                                                                                                            When: January 20–24, 2020

The Anthom Sale was Plain 👎

Anthom is offering discounts of up to 80%, but unless if overpriced and underwhelming sales are your thing—skip this one. While the discounts originally seemed promising, a lot of the items are well over $150+. There are, however, a few good deals. This sale features clothes from Anthom, along with other brands that include dim sum, Yune Ho, and H of S.

All types of women’s clothing is being sold, along with accessories such as headbands, jewelry, and shoes. Everything is displayed neatly on hangers and separated by brand. The space is very minimalist chic and everyone working the sale is helpful.

The sizing definitely stays on the smaller size. Some of the items aren’t even sized at all (um, what?).

Ladies, please spare yourself the trip to this one. High priced items + bad sizing= one bad sale. I give this a 3/10 for the exactly 3 items I found reasonably priced.

Notte a lot at Otte

By: Eve Orbach

In the wise words of our follower @actuallychic “Don’t go it’s awful. Expensive and almost no inventory. Lame attempt at getting customers in the store to sell their regular priced items.” Stock at the Otte sample sale includes pieces from brands such as Acne Studios, R13, Golden Goose, Aviator Nation, Mother, and more. Discounts ranged from 60% to 85%. There are also LOTS of non-sale items, which is why I am totally buying @actuallychic’s killer conspiracy theory.

There are tops, dresses, winter coats, shoes, denim, perfumes, jewelry, and more. Clothing is neatly organized by item type. The sizing definitely stayed on the smaller side, and I literally got there the minute the sale opened. (Eek.) The space is cheery and cute and definitely my favorite part of the whole shabang.

The prices are WAY too high for Otte to call this a sample sale. Most of the items are well over the $200 range, and are either too expensive or just plain farty.

For the love of all things that are good in this world, spare yourself. This sale is a massive waste of time. Cash, credit cards and Apple Pay accepted. All sales are final. I give this one a 2/10.

YAY For YIGAL AZROUEL

By: Eve Orbach

According to Wikipedia (yes folks— we are THAT studious) “The Yigal Azrouel woman is effortlessly cool and confident…Yigal prides himself in the craftsmanship; he finely sources original fabrics, furs, and embellishments from all over the world to create the finest products for his customers.” At discounts of up to 90% off on gorgeous pieces! (including ones from the runway!) this sale is not one to miss. There are stunning feminine dresses, edgy leather jackets, and everything in between. Also included is a strong accessories section featuring many styles of belts, shoes, scarves, and bags.

The gowns are definitely the highlight of the sale; the patterns and designs are so intricate. Other highlights are their beautifully made winter coats and stylish heels.

There is a great range of sizes in all categories so extra points for that! Most sample sales are very lacking in this category, so hats off to the good people at Yigal Azrouel.

All items are hung up neatly on hangers and divided by attire and item type (standard, leather, runway, etc.) The staff was very helpful and helped some of my fellow shoppers find some real hidden gems.

Cash and credit card accepted. All sales are final.

What: Yigal Azrouel Sale.                                                                                                                                         When: January 13-16, 2020.                                                                                                                                       Where: 500 7th Avenue, 9th Floor (at the wework 37th entrance).

Wilt and Acrobat: small selection but great finds

By: Gabriella Rose

Set up: The Wilt and Acrobat sample sale was in a very small space, and there were only 3-4 racks total. One rack had a few cashmere sweaters, another had dresses and pants, and another had some shirts and coats. The majority of the items were low in stock – there were mostly one of each piece. Everything was very organized, and it was very easy to find whatever you are looking for. This sale was very hit or miss: it is possible one can find a few great items, but also possible to find simply nothing (due to the low quantity of items.)

Merchandise/ pricing: Each piece was individually marked. The cashmere sweaters were all $40, blouses around $60, dresses around $200, coats around $300, pants around $40, and shorts around $30. The prices were very good, due to the clothing’s amazing quality. There was mostly one of each item, which made it rather hard to shop. There were also no accessories, and no shoes. This sale was very small and everything was low in stock.

When: Wed. Jan 8th- Fri, Jan 10th, 2020

The (Not So) Clever Alice Sale

By: Eve Orbach

When one of the first things you hear upon entering a sale is “the golden rule is to NOT trust the sizing”, you know you’re not off to a great start. The Clever Alice pop up features multiple brands such as Stellah, PORTO, Vivienne Hu, Inizio, Raw Earth Wild Sky, and more at discounts of up to 80%. Featured items include sweaters, skirts, tops, dresses, jackets, and bags. The prices really varied by item and brand, but as a whole I would say the deals were simply 😐.

The sale is organized by brand and clothing item. Every piece is hung up neatly on hangers. The staff is super helpful to the point where I literally didn’t have to carry any item for more than .2 seconds, when it would then kindly be whisked away to the fitting room. The fitting room does not have a mirror inside, so every time I tried something on I had to go out and do a little fashion show in front of every person in the store. (There were definitely a few not too approving looks given to me by some of the other customers, lol. To each their own, guys!)

There honestly is nothing too notable about this one. If you’re in the area it may be worth popping by because they have some good pieces. Overall though the issues with the sizing were pretty frustrating and the deals were by and large underwhelming. Hopefully once the sample sale season kicks back up again there will be bigger and better ones to come!
