By: Ashley Randall

Hello and welcome back to our Sales Styles Series! We are back and this time we interviewed New York based fashionista @the.sales.girl!  Sales Girl is a fellow devoted member of the sample sale community in New York City as well as searching every corner of the internet for the best designer deals. If you were to check out her Instagram on any regular day, you would find tons of screenshots of deals online as well as live photos taken from the best sales in NYC.

@the.sales.girl told us she has been shopping at sample sales since college (I mean it’s never too early to get a good deal). While she started her Instagram based on the fact that the only media outlet providing insight on the merchandise was ShopDrop! She felt like there needed to be more coverage on the products at sample sales. Regarding her screenshots of the online deals, she just wants to help out her sale sisters/brothers! Sales Girls said she devotes around a half hour to an hour each day online searching for designer goodies. She said uses a lot of filters for specific designers and said that Barney’s was her favorite (they save your favorite designers – making it that much easier). She also mentioned Cettire having great finds but it is a pain to search through. Her favorite place to shop in-stores is Barney’s Warehouse and she swears by it. @the.sales.girl described herself as “thrifty as f*ck” and we really couldn’t agree more! Check out below to see her answer from quick questions.

What To Expect From the Hermes Sample Sale

By: Ashley Randall

Calling all the fashionistas in the New York Tri-State Area! If you haven’t heard, Hermes will be hosting a Sample Sale in two weeks! So you better start saving now or apologizing to your significant other regarding your next credit card bill.

We gathered past intel from some amazing sale ladies to give you a picture of what to expect at the sale. Last Fall, Hermes hosted a Sample Sale at the Americana in Long Island. One of our team members attended the sale and said Hermes began giving out tickets at midnight. Apparently the early bird gets Hermes Twill Scarves and Oran Sandals (I mean you can sleep when you’re dead – at least you will be wearing Hermes).

Past Hermes Sales have had shoes, including the coveted Oran and Thalassa Sandals. While we heard from HolyinMundane that there will be Ready to Wear, but there will be no enamel bracelets or silk scarves (we are literally praying to the sales gods that this isn’t true). Also, the sale does not usually feature bags and home. The question everybody is pondering, what are the discounts like? Generally in the past, shoes and accessories were 50% off and other items ranged from 50% to 70%. Another thing about the Hermes Sale, you do not receive the highly notable orange box. Rather, the merchandise is given to you in plastic/clear bags.

What we remembered most, was the strict no photo policy. At the entrance to the sale, the clerks taped your phone. If you lifted as much as the edge of the tape, there was void printed all over it and security swiftly escorted you out of the sale.

No one timed you, which was great while you were shopping, but sucked while you waited in line. They restocked the merchandise every day.

Will you be attending the sale? If so, then stop by and come say hi to us! ShopDrop will be providing coverage on the Hermes Sample Sale so make sure you check Instagram to get live updates!

Philosophy Designer Outlet Sale – Work Women Chic!

By: Ashley Randall

Today we had the chance to checkout the Philosophy Designer Outlet Sale in midtown. The sale had a variety of designers including Philosophy, T TAHARI and Catherine Malandrino.

The sale is extremely organized and run by an amazing staff which are ready to help you right when you walk in the door! While we expected the sale to feature lots of merchandise from Philosophy we were disappointed to find out that there was a limited selection. There was tons of T TAHARI dresses and tops as well as a variety of pieces from Catherine Malandrino. There is a large selection of work appropriate clothing at a discounted price.

Overall we rated the sale a 5 out of 10. While there was a huge variety of clothing, the pricing was not great. If you are in need of any work chic clothing that will both be appropriate and impress the office, you should stop by!

By: Ashley Randall

Today we had a chance to checkout the PRIVE Mens and Women’s Sample Sale downtown inside Chelsea Market. The sale featured a ton of both mens and women’s brands such as Onia, Derek Lam, Vince, and Toms. The Vince shoes were priced at $75 dollars and there were some great finds. The ready to wear pieces from Derek Lam were limited but there were some gems. The greatest find was Onia X WeWoreWhat collaboration pieces for $25 dollars when they are still full priced online. Whether you are lounging on the beach this upcoming holiday or going out to brunch with your besties, a new outfit never hurt anyone. There is also a ton of stuff for the men in your life!

MZ Wallace Sample Sale- Long Line but Worth the Wait

By: Riva Neumann

The MZ Wallace Sample Sale was really great for anyone who loves the brand, besides waiting on line for over an hour. However, after the first day, there seemed to be no line and there was a price drop! On day 1, solid colored bags went for $100 and printed went for $80 but now solid bags are $80 and printed are $60. What. A. Steal!!!! They restocked the bags so there was definitely something for everyone. Wallets were $60, cosmetic bags were $40 and charms and other miscellaneous items were $20.

There were so many bags to choose from and they were all in boxes in two different rooms, one downstairs and the main room upstairs. The boxes were not organized and everything was everywhere but if you go through the boxes you will definitely find something you like. I was able to snag a large printed backpack for $80 so I highly recommend this sale to anyone.

Overall, I gave this sale an 8/10, lots to choose from so head on over!

Sales Styles Series – Interview with @Luxe_Hunt

By: Ashley Randall

Hello and welcome to our new Sales Style Series! Here we will be interviewing some of your favorite fashionistas and sales shopping experts! This past week we had the opportunity to speak with @Luxe_Hunt. If you are not familiar with the user @Luxe_Hunt, she scours every online retailer for the designer deals of the century and links them on her instagram stories. She literally “hunts” for designer goods from Neiman’s to Barneys and everything in-between. If you were to check out her page on any regular day, you would find Balenciaga shoes, Burberry scarves and Prada wallets – all at a steep discount – linked to her Instagram stories. We had the opportunity to ask her some questions regarding her Instagram, how much time she devotes, the sale community and some of her favorite finds!

Luxe_hunt told us that her instagram merely started out as a way to share her great finds with her friends and family. Instead of showcasing her finds, she decided to link the items so others could buy (lucky us)! While Luxe_hunt did not reveal her methods to how she finds all these amazing products, she did disclose that she spends roughly 3 hours a day scouring different sites. The question we were dying to have answered was Luxe_hunt’s thoughts on who has the best sale merchandise. While she explained that sale merchandise goes through different phases. For example, right now in department stores (think Barneys & Nordstroms) they are having discounts as high as 70% off – which is the best you can get. While in the next coming weeks, there will be great discounts at the outlets (think Saks Off Fifth & Nordstrom Rack). Luxe_Hunt also discussed the importance of a Sales Associate and getting them to message you when designer merchandise goes on sale.

Shopping online versus shopping in stores?

  • Shopping in stores, where you can find the best hidden gems

What is your favorite part about the sales community?

  • Group of like-minded people that cheer each other on

What was the best sale find you have ever come across?

  • Brand new black classic Louboutins with the dust bag and all at Neiman’s Last Call – scored for $186!

What is your favorite item purchased within the last year?

  • Gucci Marmont Bag in Blue Crushed Velvet – scored for 50% off!

The Staud Sample Sale is not for the Faint of Heart

staud sample sale 2019

By: Jacqueline Munro

I have never felt so unwelcome at a sample sale before; it’s as if the employees (well one in particular) forgot that I was a paying customer looking to spend money at their sale. It was disgusting the way I was heckled and embarrassed at the door regarding my ability to enter the sale. I am extremely disappointed in 260 for hiring someone like this to manage the special entry hours.

Aside from that dreadful experience though, the discounts were inconsistent. By that I mean some pieces were priced very well and others were a total rip off. They had lots of funky clothing items as well as a few bathing suits. The bags though were my favorite (and only redeeming) part of the sale. They had all of their classics including the Shirley and Moreau. Usually, if brands have their classic pieces at their sample sale, they are weird colors or sizes, but they had a great variety of neutrals and brights, and large vs. small. I was satisfied by the selection, but it was really hard to figure out the prices of the bags which was super annoying.

Overall I rated the Staud sample sale5/10. I was completely disgusted with the way I was treated upon entering the sale, and I was not happy with the organization of the showroom either; It was a complete madhouse. If they didn’t have the nice bags I would have given it a 1, but I’d like to consider myself a generous person.

They Totally Nailed it at the Rails Sample Sale

By: Jacqueline Munro

The Rails sample sale has some of the most impressive discounts I’ve seen at a 260 sale in a while. And not only are the prices on point, but the merchandise is also super cute! I’m really happy that I went to this sale especially because the clothing is in season! There’s nothing worse than going to a sample sale and buying clothing that you cant wear for three months.

There are plenty of current Rails pieces at this sample sale. Some of the shirts selling for $45 at the sale are on their website for $148 right now. There are tons of cute, soft tops, an abundance of adorable dresses, as well as some super fun jackets and bottoms. All of the items are perfect for the current weather situation. I had to restrain myself from spending every dollar on me. In addition to the plentiful amount of women’s clothing, there is a small section for men and children. The kid’s clothes are so cute that I bought my little cousin two shirts that she won’t even fit in for two years (oopsie).

Overall I’m giving this sale an 8/10. The discounts are great and the huge selection of clothing is more than satisfying. Definitely head over to this sale if you’re looking to enhance your summer wardrobe!

Mignonne Gavigan Sample Sale – Statement Everything

By: Ashley Randall

Today we had the chance to stop by the Mignonne Gavigan Sample Sale at 401 Broadway. The sample sale is hosted in the brands showroom so be warned that it is a cramped space. The jewelry is very extra, to say the least. The earrings come in various bright colors with lots of feathers, tassels and jewels. While we were disappointed with some of the pricing of the earrings. The classic “Madeline Beaded” earrings were discounted from $225 to $100, but there were tons of other options for under $50! The Mignonne Gavigan merchandise is beautifully crafted and will most definitely make a statement when you wear there pieces.

Overall we rated the sale a 7 out of 10. The pricing was still high but there was a lot of good accessories. If you are looking for some earrings, necklaces and accessories that are gonna make people say wow, you should stop by!

Frame Sample Sale – Didn’t You Know? Canadian Tuxedos are Back!

By: Ashley Randall

We had the chance to get an early preview of the Frame Sample Sale at 260 Fifth Avenue. The sale officially. The sale officially opened this morning at 10 AM. To start off, Frame makes great jeans as well as some nice tops. We were disappointed to find that there were only six racks of jeans in comparison to last years sale. As well, the prices for the jeans went up an additional five dollars from last year. The sample selection of jeans was limited as well but there were a good selection of tops and outerwear. The saving grace of the sale was the men’s section! Lots of cute chinos and denim for all your men.

Overall, we rated this sale a 6 out of 10. The jeans are $75 dollars down from $295 but there is a limited selection. If any man in your life is looking for a pair of jeans, we recommend you stop by! We are still dreaming about the white jeans with the feathered bottoms and hoping for some reductions in the next coming days.
